o. do not feed the kitten

IVY PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE PAYED MORE ATTENTION TO THE KITTEN SHE HAD GOTTEN FOR CHRISTMAS, but she didn't. She did feed it of course, she wasn't cruel. But it turns out that maybe she shouldn't have let him roam free among her common room. Karfiol loved people and there was nothing she could do about it. There was a major problem; people kept feeding him.

The cat had only been at Hogwarts for four months but he seemed to be every Hufflepuff's favourite treat receiver. The poor boy was fatter than a watermelon. It didn't help that she only recently became aware of what her housemates were doing as she had been feeding him more than enough. But luck seemed to love Ivanka Parry, of course this wouldn't go the way she wanted it to.

There wasn't even anything good about her morning as in the shower she realised her feelings for Percy Weasley.

__________

"He would never like me back. We're barely even friends." Ivy said to Leo, as they sat on the grass just talking. "Why did my heart suddenly decide to fancy bloody Percy Weasley?"

"The heart wants what it wants Ivy." Leo told her. "Go for it, how bad could it be?"

Ivy looked at him like he was joking. "We could go back to how we acted before. All arguments and glares. I don't want that."

Luke approached them, sitting next to Leo and casually flinging an arm around his shoulder like he had been doing for months now. "Seems like you two were talking about something important."

"Actually you got it all wrong love, we were talking about how Penelope Clearwater didn't show up to her rounds last night with Ivy." Leo replied, looking up at his friend.

"Yeah apparently she ditched me for Juliet." Ivy quickly caught on. "Speaking of Juliet, I saw you speaking with her this morning Leo. Do tell."

Leo smiled. "It was nothing, honest. We were just talking about certain people."

"Only the good things though?"

"Always the good things with them." said Leo, leaving Luke completely confused.

"With who?" He asked, tilting Leo's head to face him.

Once he realised what he had done, he jerked his hand away but continued to look deeply in his eyes.

"Just someone." But Leo had visibly perked up.

Ivy rolled her eyes. "Quit it you saps, we have to get to history of magic."

Ivy Parry was not creative and conjuring up a collar with a specific warning to not feed Karfiol was kind of difficult. This was the only way her cat could become a normal weight again; she was certain he wouldn't want to walk through the castle twice a day.

"So he's your cat?" A third year exclaimed. "I tried to get people to stop feeding him but they wouldn't listen. How'd you come up with the name Karfiol anyway?"

"My mother is Bulgarian you see, and whenever she says the word cauliflower, she always pronounces it wrong, in English I mean. And she bought me the kitten. The first thing I thought of was cauliflower because he was all white and fluffy." Ivy rambled. "He was kind of like a sheep. Thankfully, he doesn't have as much fur."

"That's so cool!" He responded with his eyes widened. "My mum won't let me have a cat because my dad's allergic. I've got an owl though; her name is Crescent because she always demands more treats when there is a crescent moon."

Ivy smiled at him. "Aren't you the seeker who took over Luke after he quit?"

"Yep that's me. I'm Cedric Diggory but you seem cool so you can call me Ced." He gave her his hand to shake.

Ivy returned it. "I'm Ivy Parry, the best Hufflepuff perfect you'll ever meet. But maybe one day you'll be a prefect, if so, you'll have beaten me."

"I'll keep trying to stop people from feeding your cat. But I don't know how much it'll work out." Cedric sighed. "People don't tend to listen to a third year, even when they are their house's seeker."

"Knowing that you're trying is enough."

__________

"So who does Leo talk about when he's with Juliet - Merlin I hate her?" Luke asked Ivy at dinner, where Leo was not around, hoping that she would cave and give him answers.

"Quite a few people actually." Ivy lied, clicking her tongue. "You'd be surprised how many people they actually like."

"Ah come on Ivy! I'm desperate here." Luke complained.

Ivy smirked. "Oh I get it now. You want to know if Leo's said anything about you, don't you?"

"Who wouldn't? Though I'm sure you'd love to know what Percy says about you." said Luke as he tried to convince Ivy to tell him things.

"He talks about me?" Ivy asked quietly, blushing but she quickly shook her head. "Why would you know if he did or not? Stop playing mind games, there's chicken drumsticks!"
