Chapter Thirteen - Bubbles

-Aurora-

It had been a few days since we got back from New Zealand and I was still happily in the bubble of being engaged. Staring down at my engagement ring i was in my own head while I was waiting for the toast to be done.  But the happy bubble slowly began to disappear as thought of my mother seeped in and her time as being a member too the family. William warned me of this, the moment where your happiest a image of Mum comes in as a cautionary tale for those taking a chance with us.

"Roe, are you all right?" Liam broke me from my thoughts and I look up at him "You look like you've seen a ghost."

"Liam, what do you want?" I question and his expression turns from concern to confusion

"I don't understand?"

"When we were at your parents house, you asked me to go through the scenarios with what a future with me could look like. What do you want? Do you want to remain in your job as an actor and I will find something independent from the family or do you want to try doing both or give up acting, what is it that you want to do?" I question him.

"Where's all this coming from?"

"I want you to have a choice, we have a choice, I'm 4th in line. When Will and Harry have kids I'll be further down. What I don't want is to assume, and you go along with it and end up miserable and resenting me for never asking you like..."

"Hey, hey, hey." he pulled me into his embrace

"I don't want to lose you like i lost her, I couldn't bare it, not again." there was a soft pop of the toast being done.

"Come on, sit down. I'll finish your breakfast and we'll talk." He sat me down on the sofa and then went and buttered the toast ad brought it over with some orange juice, setting it on the table. "Roe." he took my hands

"I want to marry you. That's what I want. I want you to be my wife and I want to be your husband. Either way someone sacrifices something. While it's true i love acting not being a actor is not the end of the world. Acting is not my only talent, it's not my only passion but there is only one you. I'm sure that I can find to work my acting into the new chapter in my life, whether that is setting up a school, events, charity that like the cinema and television benevolent fun or something along those lines.

Yes I know that you could step back and not become a non working royal member. That through sheer determination you would make it work, but i also know even though you could do that the you would be half the person you are. You are a perfect mixture of independent and family centred. Keeping the balance of who you were born as and who you want to be would be. You are so many things and quirks and mystery. Aurora I want to do this, my choice is you." he explained to me with such conviction,

"You're sure?"

"Completely. Even if that mean taking duchy 101." he laughs "A joke Catherine made when we were talking."

"Liam, once we announce. Everything will change, all the respect we've been given in our friendship, in our relationship it will amp up. The normalcy we've been given...poof." I made the gesture with my hands

"But just think of what we've done with that? We've been able to get to know each other as friends, then as a couple. We're lucky of all the stuff we've been able to do. But we'll be even luckier with everything to come. Please believe me when I say I'm ready, the bad and the good. I assure you." I took a deep breath my fears some what settled at least for now

-----------

Liam and I met with Granny, Grandpa, Dad and Camilla at Buckingham Palace to talk about the wedding. The two of us had been engaged for a week, but I had warned Liam that even before our engagement was announced there were things to be done, conversations to be had with my family and then with his.

"I'm glad we're all here, it gives us a chance to congratulate the two of you in person." Granny smiles resting her bag to one side and coming over to us. I leant down and kissed her cheeks as she held my hands. She then did the same with Liam who looked a little shell shocked. Then came Grandpa.

"Well done, my girl." he kissed my head then shook hands with Liam. Camilla was next kissing my cheeks and then going to Liam. Then there was my Dad who looked like hewas trying not to cry as he lifted my hands and kissed them. No words were exchanged between us as he moved onto Liam.

"We want to hear all about it don't we?" Dad spoke as we all sat down to have some tea and sandwiches. So we told them each talking about the trip in general and then going down to cathedral cove. Once we had finished reliving our story I knew that it was down to business.

"William. I'm not sure how much my granddaughter has told you about a royal engagement and a royal wedding but somethings do needed to be discussed before we announce." Granny stated

"Aurora's told me, yes." Liam nodded

"The announcement will be made from Clarence house and subsequently following that Buckingham Place will release a statement of jubilation with that details to follow." Granny went over what was to happen. "I have already commissioned the official documentation for the engagement. As there are a few things that would be helpful to know before hand. Have you talked about your future after marriage?" Liam and i look at each other then back at Granny.

"Yes, we have at length. I am willing to retire from acting career on my marriage to Aurora. As it stands I still have a few project I would like to do during the time of our engagement. For later release after." Liam answered. My family nodded

"What about the wedding venue? You have your pick." Dad inquired

"We had two in mind though we haven't picked one. either St Georges Chapel or Westminster. Granny am i right in assuming the advice you gave to William about friends and family first, politics later can apply to us as well?"

"Of course my dear, your wedding belongs to the two of you. Now about residence, Liam its customary that upon engagement at least you move into the security and protection that we provide. Renovation were made to key parts Kensington as you know, it will provide for a secure base while you are in London, though we have yet to make arrangements for your return to St Andrews." Granny replied

"Liam has already had a thought about that, he recently found a more gated place that should serve us fine when I return to university." I smile at my fiancee

"Well that settled. William I hope you don't mind if I have someone arranged to come and see you to give you a quick lessons on what will be expected of you."

"Of course not. How to be a royal 101." Liam and I chuckled

"Yes, it is quite like that."Dad and Camilla joined in with our amusement

"They have you sussed Lilibet." Grandpa smirked

"moving on." Granny had a look of amusement on her face "Did you have any thoughts to who would do Engagement photo's, a exclusive interview, where to have your press photo's?"

"We came prepared Granny. Catherine has graciously accepted to do our engagement pictures, we hope that Sir Trevor McDonald would do the interview, we were thinking Frogmore house for the press roll call and the interview" She seemed impressed though hardly surprised given I always like to be prepared. "Granny I just had a thought, the wedding would be in your jubilee year. It didn't click till now. Maybe we should..." I turned to Liam about to say postpone when granny cut in

"What nonsense." I turned to her "I love the idea of a jubilee wedding. I am more than happy to have it during next year, so I suggest you remove that thought and guilt from your head." that shut me up. Liam cleared his throat and i looked to him.

"It was also Aurora's wish that the main residence would be at Windsor. Ma'am."

"Liam i also joked that it should be a new build." I felt like I was already pushing it with a jubilee year wedding

"That sounds like a perfect wedding present, don't you mama?" Again my thoughts were cut off by a member of the family. This time it was my Dad talking to granny "The Duchy of Cornwall could cover most of the expense."

"But Dad with a royal residence there are certain expectations how it should be decorated."

"Aurora my dear, if it would make you feel better you could do as I." Granny offered "Have one as a work place meant for those of a functioning of a royal member." Maybe I shouldn't just think for a while because anytime that I do someone says no you can do something else, which is what I'm grateful for but then i'm just so confused.
