3

Crescent POV

It's been about two years, meaning I'm 4 years old now, and I have to say, they were so fucking boring! Proper, proper that, this is how to hold this cup or glass, even which silverware to use! I knew it was important, but I didn't realize how many different things I would have to learn!

I got so bored at the lessons that it wasn't even funny. I ended up destroying some dishes they wanted me to use but nobody mentioned it, I think they took pity on me or something. Though after these two years I noticed something very important, I was finally tall enough to reach the damn door nob! Well, my tendrils are, but same thing. So that's exactly what I'm currently trying to do.

My tendrils barely reached the nob, but turning the nob was another story. Cross always puts the seat I sit on when eating away when it wasn't time to eat and everything else was to heavy to move. I frowned and tried to jump which kind of worked. Only kind of since I was stuck clinging to the nob, then the door started to open and caused me to yelp.

I clung to the door as it opened and I pretty quickly realized that Cross was the one to open the door. He was carrying my breakfast as well. I knew I had been caught right away but I was still stuck, so I let go of the handle and landed right on my butt which hurt, "Ouch...." I sniffled a bit, it didn't hurt to bad but my body was still little.

I  heard Cross sigh and look up to him as he says "You realize I have to report this now, right?" I wiped away the forming tears as something bubbled up, "I wanna go out! I don't care if it's just in the castle! I've been stuck in my room for four years!" I wanted to leave, I didn't care if it was just around the castle at this point.

Thankfully, Cross seemed to understand and nodded a little, "I see... well, I'll ask Nightmare later then." Yes! I might be able to leave! "But for now we have breakfast and then morning lessons." No! I suppose it's better then before though... with a groan I get up to go eat my food and asked how many more lessons there were.

"You'll be learning the basics until you are old enough to begin training in magic. Then you'll be taught combat, swordsmanship, various weapon techniques, and then more after the logistics and means of fulling the empire." That was a lot, and sounded overly complicated... but, "That will start when...?" I had no clue what age magic training was supposed to start.

I looked up at Cross waiting for an answer which I thankfully didn't have to wait for. "Well you're four years old now so your ageing will slow to a crawl so.... A few hundred years?" Cross seemed a little unsure as I stared at him blankly, a few hundred years? Cross could probably feel my stare, "Give or take." That's supposed to make me feel better?! "That's forever away!" I was horrified, I didn't wanna wait a few hundred years!

Cross seemed to not feel any sympathy though, "Really? Huh, I guess for a human yeah. I'm a few thousand years old myself so it's not that big of a deal for me." I stared at Cross, a few thousand years old...? "You're old." He's practically an old man! "Says the baby bones." Hey! "I'm not a baby! I'm little sure, but not a baby!" "You're technically a toddler." I stuck out my tongue in response to Cross' statement, very maturely obviously.

Cross chuckled a bit and sat my breakfast down. I tanked him and immediately started to eat it, food is life, I don't care what anyone else says. I watched as Cross began preparing the days lessons, which I wasn't looking forward too, though the reading should be fun at least. Though... "When are you going to talk to Papa about me leaving my room? I don't wanna be stuck in here forever!"

Just the thought of being stuck in my room for hundreds of more years made me feel like crying. Though I was completely confused when Cross said he already talked with my dad.  "When did you...? You've been here the whole time!" Cross hadn't left the room since he entered it! I blinked when Cross said he had made a clone when I was eating, he can make clones? "You can make clones? Since when?" Seriously, I've never seen him make any before.

"I'm a ninja." I stared at Cross, he's a ninja? Since when? "Can I be a ninja??"  I wilted when he said I couldn't officially become a ninja, but then I realized a key word, officially. Does that mean...?  "You said not officially, does that mean I can be one unofficially?" Cross didn't verbally answer but he did smile and wink! That means I can become a Ninja! Eventually, and not officially, but a ninja non the less!

I found myself smiling even as Cross started the lessons for the day, I was to excided not too! I even sat through the lesson without a single complaint, which was a new record. At the end of the lessons I was picked up which caused me to look at Cross in confusion before lighting up when he asked if I was ready for a small tour "YES!!" You bet your life I'm ready!

I was practically bouncing in Cross' arms as he opened the door and walked into the hallway. I looked around in excitement and curiosity, happy so see the outside of my room.  The castle seemed to be a dark and gothic theme with the hallway lined with lanterns that were alight with purple flames. "How come the fire is purple? I thought fire was orange? Or blue or white...." Never heard of purple fire though.

I turned to Cross as he explained that they were magical flames, "Really? That's so cool! how does it work?" I was curious, was it runes of some sort, a persons magic? I wanted to know but all I got was a "Magic" from Cross which made me pout as he continued to show me around the area. It wasn't the whole castle but it didn't matter, by the end I was a happy 4 year old, I had finally seen outside my room after all!

__________

I'm now 6 years old and I have a pretty happy life. Sure the lessons about the princess things were boring, but they were also important, and they weren't the only lessons I have. Cross had been giving me 'super secret ninja training' in his words and I found it fun! Well, it wasn't so much as as training as me trying to sneak up on Cross and him teaching me more subtle things that didn't need magic.

Today seemed to be a normal, peaceful day but for some reason I felt like something was... off. I couldn't figure out why it felt off though despite me trying to figure it out. Things went normally, until lunch came. At first things were normal, Cross went to get my lunch as usual, however, that's where things ended. Not even 5 minutes later a group of people broke in and grabbed me and rushed out the nearest window.

I was so confused, and it didn't register what was happening until I heard the alarms a few minutes later. By then, I was gagged and under some guys arm, which was uncomfortable as hell. I also wasn't very happy while also kind of being, well, scared. This was also about the time that they began talking, and I think one of the... 'grunts'? asked what the drop off point was, at which point the person carrying me replied with "About 5 miles ahead. Once we get this brat to the Fells, we'll be set for life." Apparently I'm worth a lot of money...? Also that's assuming you aren't killed for kidnapping me in the first place, idiots. The same 'grunt' asked if the 'leader' thought that the 'Fells' would kill me, and the response? "Who cares, long as we get paid."

That, didn't sound very good. I'm 6, even if I lived before I wasn't ready to die again... I want to grow old and live forever with Cross, Momma, and Papa. I didn't wanna go to the fells, I wanted my family! Or just to be somewhere that wasn't here! I felt a weird feeling and shifted a bit onto to notice that I seem to be glowing...? Apparently I wasn't the only one who noticed either if the "Shit! Bitch is trying to use magic!" was anything to go by.

I however ignored them and continued to move around to at least try and make it harder for them. The weird feeling grew until at some point it seem to explode? I saw what looked like magic seemingly explode from my body, causing the guy to be forced to let me go and the ropes to be shredded. However, that also meant I was now free falling from somewhere up high and let out a muffled yelp. I'm not really sure what happened next but I somehow fell through a portal and into a pool, landing with a big SPLASH!

Thankfully as a skeleton I didn't need to breath, because I had no clue how to swim. I couldn't even swim as a human. I ended up at the bottom of the pool but made my way to the side to try and use my tendrils to climb out. I must have been on the deep end or something because my tendrils couldn't find the edge, but I did find a ladder that I was able to use to climb out of the pool.

As soon as I was out I took out the gag to look around and hopefully figure out where I was. However, when I looked around I didn't recognize anything. "Um.. Hello? Is anyone out here? I'm lost..." I felt panic start to bubble up, I was alone, didn't know where I was, and I was starving... I could potentially die out here, and I don't know if anyone knows where I am... Before I could get too deep into my panic I heard a female voice call out, "Hello...?"

I turned to the voice, perking up a bit. It was a human women, maybe around 26 years of age? She was standing in the doorway of what I assumed to be her home... "Um.. Hi..." I felt a bit embarrassed but I was 6 so who cares? I'm allowed to feel embarrassed! The lady asked if I was okay so I nodded, "Yeah, I'm fine, just..... lost..." and hungry and lonely and scared, but I don't wanna admit that so...

She seemed to frown, did I say something wrong? "Did you fall into the pool? Come in and lets get you dry clothing, my daughter's old clothing should fit you." So I didn't say something wrong! "Um... okay... My names Crescent, as in the moon..? What's yours?" Stranger danger is supposed to be a thing but... well, apparently not when you could potentially die. Also I didn't wanna be alone, and felt safe around her too despite my nervousness... "I'm Chara." Chara...? Don't the Chara's normally die? That's what Cross said... "Nice to meet you, Chara!" I gave her a smile.

After that it wasn't long until I was changed into clean, dry clothes and for Chara to give me food so I could eat as she washed my clothes for me. After eating, Crescent put the dishes in the sink and sat on Chara's couch, not really sure what to do or how to get ahold of someone from back home.... Chara ended up walking in a few minutes later to ask if I was feeling alright.

"I... don't have a way to get ahold of anyone back home to tell them where I am... Some people just kinda took me, and I ended up falling through some sort of portal..." I frowned a bit, trying to hold back tears. I wanted to go home, but I can't because I don't know where home was.

Chara seemed to think about it before she spoke up again, "... Do you know your parent's names?" My parents... names? I... don't think I know Momma's, but... "I know Papa's name?" I wonder why she's asking? "Okay, what's their name, sweetie?" Oh, maybe she knew where home was? "Papa's name is Nightmare!" I don't know why Papa had a scary name, but I love him anyways. Chara seemed to nod a bit, "Oh, okay, hmm.. they sound familiar." I mean... "Papa rules over the Nightmare Empire." Pretty sure Papa made it, too.

I saw recognition flash in Chara's eyes, "Ah, that's probably why, I'm sure they'll fine you soon." She gave me a smile, but I frowned and hugged my knees to myself, putting my head on top of them. I wanted to be found now, I missed Momma and Papa and Cross!

I bit back a yelp as Chara sat next to me and gently pulled me onto her lap. I was fighting tears as I tried not to cry. I wasn't a baby, I should be able to handle not have Cross, or Momma, or Papa at my side 24/7! I didn't have them as a human, I didn't have anyone as a human! I should be able to handle myself being alone for a while, so why did I feel like I was dying?

I heard Chara say it's okay to cry, and she's right! But.. "I'm not a baby, I can handle not having Cross, or Momma, or Papa nearby." I hope... Even though I wanted them back like yesterday. I wasn't sure who I was trying to convince, Chara or myself? Either way, my voice didn't sound too convincing. It certainly didn't convince Chara, who spoke up with, "It's okay to be upset when you've been thrown into a random universe away from your family." As she gently patted my skull, trying to comfort me.

I don't know why, but after hearing that, my bones started to rattle as I silently started to cry. Chara pulled me closer to her and just let me cry. I don't know how long I cried for, but I do know that I was exhausted from everything and fell asleep in Chara's arms... she hoped she was found soon...
