KLAUS STEFAN AND DIANA trudged through the Smokey Mountains. Stefan was carrying Ray whilst Klaus and Diana were walking alongside him flirting with each other. Stefan was watching them with a troubled expression, "Can you stop flirting with my sister. It's disgusting."

They both looked at him, "She's my mate. I can do whatever I want," Klaus snapped. Diana placed her hand on his arm and he subconsciously calmed down before smirking.

"You okay? Is Ray getting heavy?"

"I'm fine," Stefan grumbled.

"You sure about that? You know we've been walking for quite some time now. If you need some water or a little sit-down..."

"So he gets the offer? My feet are killing me," Diana complained.

"I don't know why, I did make you change those dreadful heels." Klaus snickered.

"They were not dreadful they were gorgeous. But yes my feet hurt. Nik, carry me," Diana said holding out her arms for him. He sighed and turned around and she got on his back with a smile, she thanked him by kissing him on the cheek.

"You know I get that we're, uh... stuck together but if we could maybe just skip the chitchat, it'd be great. I'd rather you go back to flirting with my sister," Stefan denied interrupting their flirting again.

"So much brooding. Your self-loathing is suffocating you, my friend," Klaus teased.

"Maybe it's 'cause I'm a little tired of hunting werewolves. We've been at it all summer," Stefan mumbled the last bit but they picked it up.

"Thanks to our friend Ray here, we've found ourselves a pack," Klaus agreed as they reached the pack and Stefan walked forward and dropped Ray on the ground.

"Ray! Oh my God! What's going on. Who are you?" A woman rushed up and knelt beside the dead man.

Diana jumped off of Klaus' back and walked up to a large rock and sat down. Her nerves were back. They subsided when she was near her mate but they came back now even though he was standing now even ten feet away.

"The important question is who am I," Klaus said. "Please forgive the intrusion. My name's Klaus."

"You're the hybrid," The girl stuttered out.

"You've heard of me. Fantastic," Klaus smirked.

Whilst Klaus was explaining everything Diana dozed in and out of strange dreams.

She was standing in a blue and purple hazy space. In the distance, large mountains stood as tall as the sky. Diana looked down and she seemed to be standing in what looked like a lake but the water didn't even reach her ankles.

A flash brought her from her confusion and what looked like a memory played in front of her. A woman with raven hair stood over a baby with a man with equally black hair. Screams were sounding in the distance.

"She has to go. She's not safe here." The man spoke. The woman nodded and looked back at the baby in her arms.

"I'm sorry sweet Diana. We love you very much. We'll see you soon little warrior."

Their faces were blurred significantly so the only thing Diana could see was their hair before there was a flash of rainbow colours and she was sitting on a doorstep crying. The door opened and her adoptive mother looked back at her astonished at the sight of a baby.

The memory faded and Diana looked around frantically, "No! What was that. Who were those people."

"All in good time little warrior."

"No! Tell me now!" Diana started feeling lightheaded and she drifted away from the eerie place and awoke with a gasp with Klaus looking at her worriedly. Stefan had left to go find Ray whilst he stayed with his growing army. The full moon was almost at its peak and Diana breathed heavily.

"Diana Love are you ok? I've been trying to wake you up for the past twenty minutes," Klaus told her.

"Get away from me," Diana demanded pushing him away with great strength as her eyes glowed brighter by the second.

"Ana?"

As the moon reached its peak, Diana screamed as her bones began to twist and turn at strange angles. Her screaming continued as Klaus' eyes widened. He couldn't comprehend how she was shifting like he did not even two months ago.

Diana looked up from her position on the ground and her eyes were as red as lights even her pupils. She eventually calmed down and was standing tall on all fours her clothes shredded at her sides. She was at least 5'2 and as black as the night. Klaus was shocked.

He walked closer to her lightly not wanting to scare her. She stood still waiting for him and he placed his hand on her head and ran his fingers through her fur. He didn't have to bend down and she snuggled into his leg.

Something in the distance alerted her and her head snapped in that direction.

"What is it, love?"

She ignored him and ran off in that direction leaving him bewildered and stressed. Diana ran through the woods not knowing why. All she knew was someone she loved was in trouble and she sped in their direction.

Her paws thundered on the floor and she skidded to a stop and knocked Ray off her little brother who was wrestling with the crazed werewolf with Damon, watching.

She barred her large menacing fangs at the man who growled at her. He gulped and bowed in respect. She disregarded him and circled him like prey. Ray whimpered in fear as she placed her paw on his back and pressed down crushing his bones. Diana looked up as Damon and Stefan were ready to attack her.

She rolled her eyes and seamlessly shifted back. Their eyes widened significantly as she turned back naked.

"Good Gaea that was painful. Hi twinsy. Steffie," Diana greeted the open-mouthed people, "Are you going to stare at me or hand me a jacket." Stefan handed her his jacket.

Diana rolled her eyes before kissing her brother on the cheek, "I missed you, Dames."

Diana sighed before walking off leaving them speechless. She came to the clearing where Klaus was just ripping one of his hybrids heart out.

"What happened here?"

Klaus looked up and sped over to her embracing her in a hug and breathing in her scent. He parted from her and looked at the dead bodies.

"They failed."

"I'm sorry, baby."

"It's not your fault," he replied bringing her over to the rock and cuddling with her while they waited on Stefan. He soon entered the clearing and asked the same question Diana did not even ten minutes before.

Klaus grew angry as he left Diana's side and he picked up a bottle, "They went rabid. Some of them I killed. The others just bled out. In the end... They're all dead."

"I did everything I was told," he screamed throwing the bottle at the nearest tree. "I should be able to turn them. I broke the curse. I killed a werewolf. I killed a vampire. I killed the doppelganger."

Diana got up and took his hand in hers effectively calming him down, "You look like hell," Klaus grumbled.

"Last I checked, I'm dying... and you don't want to heal me," Stefan replied. Klaus looked at Ray's crushed body in confusion.

"Diana killed him. She didn't have a choice. I failed you I'm sorry. Do what you have to do."

Diana nudged her husband in her brother's direction and he picked up a bottle, "It should have worked," he bit into his wrist and his blood dripped into the bottle, "Bottoms up," He handed Stefan the bottle. "We're leaving. It appears you two are the only comrades I have left."

Diana sighed taking his hand before they walked to the car in silence.

Later that night Diana was in the bathroom at a hotel brushing her teeth when Klaus walked in.

"What are we going to do now?"

"Right now we are going to sleep. And in the morning we're going to see a witch in Chicago," Klaus said as she finished up.

Diana simply nodded, "Maybe she can find out what the hell I am. Because it's not a witch vampire hybrid."

Klaus chuckled as she exited and laid on the bed under the warm cover in thought. She drifted off to sleep and by the time Klaus came out of the bathroom she was snoring lightly. He kissed her head and crawled underneath the cover turning off the light.
