"I REALLY don't understand why you're dragging me to this stupid thing," Diana complained to Alaric. Earlier this morning she was rudely awoken by the sound of her phone ringing. It was Alaric saying that he needed her to go to something.

It wasn't till she arrived at where they were supposed to meet did she realise that they were going on some tour with Jenna and Elijah. Diana was pissed that Alaric had woken her up for a stalking mission.

"I'm bringing you here so I don't look like a jealous ass. Plus you know Elijah," Alaric responded.

"You don't need to look like one. You're acting like one," she retorted. He rolls his eyes as they walk up to Elijah and Jenna.

Diana smiled at them as Jenna introduced them, "Elijah these are my friends Alaric Saltzman and Diana Salvatore."

Elijah looked at Diana who walked up to him and hugged him, "Miss Salvatore and I have already been acquainted," Diana smiled at Jenna, from under Elijah's arm, who has raised eyebrows at their closeness.

"I can see that," Jenna said giving Diana the 'we need to talk' look as she separated from Elijah but still stayed close.

"I got your message about walking Elijah here through the old property so I thought Diana and I would come along," Alaric smiled. Diana could tell that it was fake.

"I didn't want to be here," Diana bluntly shrugged causing Alaric to glare at her. "But where to next," she continued.

"I'm quite curious about the freed slave property owners. Some say the descendants of the slaves are the true keepers of American history," Elijah said trying to hide his amusement for the situation.

"Well I only brought the surveys, I have that list in the car though. Just give me a sec," Jenna replied rushing off to her car.

"Alaric Saltzman. You're one of the people on Elena's list of loved ones to protect," Elijah spoke when Jenna is out of range.

"So is Jenna," Alaric responded somewhat angrily.

"You don't have to be jealous. I don't pursue younger women," Elijah replies jokingly looking down at Diana slightly before up to Alaric.

Diana giggled as she says, "He likes fossils like himself." Elijah smiled fondly at her.

"It's a joke Ric lighten up," Elijah said, he patted him on the shoulder and then walked away.

"I'm so glad you made me come now," Diana laughed.

"Shut up Ana."

Diana was now at the grill sitting next to Damon's blood bag glaring at her in hatred. She wished she could snap her neck without anyone noticing but that would be impossible due to the number of people in the grill.

"Other than the lecture in the history of Mystic falls, did you get anything out of Elijah?" Damon asked taking a sip of bourbon.

"No, it was boring," He sighed but his jealousy showed in his next sentence, "Of course Jenna thinks he's charming."

Damon seized the opportunity to tease him. "You sound jealous." He then turned to Andie, "Does he sound jealous to you."

"Kinda do," She said nodding as Diana smirked thinking of all the ways she could kill the news reporter.

"Maybe we shouldn't talk about this here," Alaric nodded his head towards Andie subtly.

"Andie, she's been compelled not to divulge my secrets. Haven't you?" Damon asked putting an arm around the back of her chair and kissing her.

"My lips are sealed," she said pulling away.

"This is too weird," Alaric mumbled.

"More like revolting," Diana commented. The doors swung open and a large breeze blew into the Grill.

Jenna and Elijah walked in laughing, as Damon said to Ric, "Ah, there's Jenna with her new boyfriend," They walked up to them and Damon plastered on a smile, "Hi."

"Hey guys," smiled Jenna who walked a bit ahead of Elijah.

"So I heard you two had quite the meeting of historical minds today," Damon commented happily.

"Yeah, I guess you could say that," Jenna beamed.

Diana mumbled, "More like an hour of my life that I can never get back." Elijah chuckled quietly.

"As much as I'd like to continue, I have papers to grade," Alaric said falsely and Diana saw right through the lie as she snorted.

"Liar," she muttered so only he can hear.

"No, you know what? We should continue this. Let's have a dinner party," Andie suggested as Diana rolled her eyes at the obvious compulsion by Damon.

"Ooh, my girl full of great ideas." Damon praised acting as though he didn't make her say that.

"Diana and I'll be happy to host. Say tonight maybe?" Diana's head whipped around to look at her brother.

"Who says I'm going?"

He looked at her sternly, "You are."

She rolled her eyes but agreed. "It's good for me. Jenna?" Andie asked.

"I don't know if tonight works..." Alaric began as Jenna said, "I'm free."

Everyone turned their head towards Elijah who had yet to speak, "It'd be a pleasure."

"Great," Damon smirked.

As she arrived downstairs the doorbell rang. Damon opened it only to make a disgusted face. When Diana looked at who it was, she nearly walked back upstairs. John Gilbert stood at the door with a small smirk on his face.

"Who invited the waste of space asshat?" Diana called.

Jenna walked into the hall and saw him and she looked at the twins in disgust, "Who invited him?"

Diana shrugged and shook her head. "I wouldn't invite someone who is stupid enough to invite themselves to my home especially when they know I don't like them."

John looked at her, "Last I checked this wasn't your house little girl, it's you brothers."

"I may look calm but mentally I have killed you 15 times 15 different ways," Diana smiled fakely. Jenna chuckled wholeheartedly.

"John. Suprise. Leave," Damon said bluntly.

"When Jenna told me she was coming to a dinner party for Elijah, I decided I couldn't miss out on all the fun and games."

"So you invited yourself? Why couldn't you have waited for an invite like a normal person? Oh, wait you wouldn't have gotten one," Diana replied smugly.

"There's not going to be any games tonight, John. It's just a friendly dinner party." Ric said.

"What he said," Damon added stalking off. Diana hearing her phone ring excused herself and walked into the parlour to get it.

◊◊◊◊◊◊◊

"Ana," Damon shouted from the dining room after everyone was sitting there in silence for about 2 minutes.

Diana had gone upstairs to change her shoes and to get away from John.

"I'm here, gods," Diana grumbled entering the dining room. She sat beside Elijah and smiled.

"You look beautiful," he complimented sincerely making Diana smile.

Before Diana could reply, Damon jumped in, "Elijah stop making goo-goo eyes at my sister."

"Damon. Shut up," Diana said with a fake smile that says I'll-kill-you-in-your-sleep-if-you-continue-talking. Damon sighed and Diana relaxed.

"It's fine Ana," Elijah told her, turning to Damon, "I'm just paying her a compliment, even though your sister is very attractive she's not mine to admire." Damon noticed that he was slightly disappointed by this but made no comment.

"Elijah I love you but shush," Diana warned. Damon looked irritated and confused.

The table was now quiet. Jenna and Andie had finished their conversation and Alaric and John stopped glaring at each other. Jenna broke the silence, "I hate to break it to you Damon, Diana but according to Elijah your family isn't a founder of this town."

"So I went to all those stupid parties for nothing," Diana grumbled quietly causing Elijah to chuckle.

"Stop being dramatic, it can't have been that bad," Elijah joked back lowly.

"It was. God I wish you were there to actually see it and scare off half of those annoying Founding Family boys."

Elijah smiled at her gently.

"Hmm, do tell," Damon said bitterly.

"Well as I mentioned to Jenna earlier, a faction of settlers migrated here from Salem after the witch trials in the 1690s," Elijah informed. Diana smiled.

He always was the history nerd.

"Over the next hundred years they developed this community where they could feel safe from persecution," Elijah continued.

"Because they were witches," Jenna whispered like it was a big secret.

"Yeah but there's no tangible proof that there were witches in Salem," Andie countered.

"Tell that to the witches that burned at the stake," Diana said taking a sip of her wine.

"Andie's a journalist big on facts," Damon jumps to Andie's defence.

"Well in those days there was an anti-witch hysteria. It broke out in the neighbouring settlement so the witches were rounded up. They were tied up to stakes in a field and, uh, burned. Some say you could hear the screams miles around us. They were consumed by the fire. Could you pass the..." he tilted his head, indicating the bread rolls.

Diana took the plate and handed it to him before Jenna spoke up, "I wouldn't repeat this to the historical society," they all laughed.

"It's starting to sound like a ghost story to me," John said.

"I can arrange for you to be a ghost story if you keep talking," Diana threatened and Jenna snorted into her wine glass.

"So why do you want to know about the location of these alleged massacres?" Damon questioned suspiciously.

"You know... a healthy historians curiosity of course," Elijah responded with a smile. Diana knew he had a double meaning behind it.

"Of course," Damon smiled.

◊◊◊◊◊◊◊

They now finished dinner and they were talking amongst each other. "Would anyone care for some Cognac, I have a bottle. I've been saving it for ages," Damon said suddenly with a smirk. Diana frowns knowing he's up to something.

"None for me thanks, 9 bottles of wine is my limit," Ric declared, Diana chuckled.

The sound of a chair scraping against wood sounds and everyone looks to Andie as she says, "The gentlemen should take their drinks to the study."

Diana snorted, "Number 1- That sexist so I think I might join. Number 2 - Damon shouldn't be going, he's not a gentleman," Diana said with a smirk. Damon glared at his sister and shook his head at her earlier comment. She pouted and he looked at her sternly.

"I must say the food was almost as wonderful as the company," Elijah complimented looking at the women.

"I like you," Andie laughed causing Diana to roll her eyes.

Damon and Elijah walked into the study and Diana stayed to help clean up.

Jenna shoved some dirty plates at John, "Here you are gentleman, make yourself useful."

"Here, here, put me to work," Alaric said with a mild desperate look on his face. Diana and Andie walked into the kitchen and Jenna followed them.

"So Ana what did Elijah mean when he said 'She's not mine to compliment'?" Jenna asked suggestively. Diana chuckled as Andie nods her head.

"I used to date his brother," she said vaguely. She didn't want to mention that she was married to him in fear of being overheard.

"No way," Andie exclaimed in shock. Diana hums and nods her head.

"What was he like? Is he as hot as Elijah?"

"He is romantic and sweet. Serious daddy issues but very caring," Diana says with a small smile. "And yes he is as hot, blond hair, blue eyes, very good in bed." she joked. The two girls laugh and tease her. Their joking manner reminded her of Rebekah and how she would tease her about Nik.

"I thought Elijah had a crush on you," Jenna shrugged.

"Definitely not," Diana denied. It would be absolutely absurd for Elijah to like Diana.

Their joking was abruptly cut short as Diana's phone rings and she excuses herself to answer.

"Hey, little brother. Enjoying your mini holiday," She asked. Stefan started rambling and Diana frowned, "John trying to do what? Why does he even have that?" she grabbed Alaric and Andie and quickly went to the study.

She opens the door and Damon and Elijah look at the three in confusion. Diana almost sighed in relief that her brother hadn't tried to dagger Elijah yet.

"Gentlemen we forgot dessert," Diana spoke.

Andie walks up to Elijah, "Elijah."

"Miss Star," he responded handing his drink to a scowling Damon. As they left Damon slapped Alaric on the arm and they had a silent conversation that ended in Damon being completely confused. Diana walked up to him and slapped him over the head for his stupidity. She then walked over to the desk and wrote something showing it to him.

Alaric made a gesture towards her and Damon rolled his eyes in annoyance. Diana slapped him and looked at him with the we'll-talk-later look. They walked back out and Diana once again reclaimed her place at the table.

"Sorry dessert is taking longer than expected, I usually just unwrap food," Jenna joked bashfully before walking back into the kitchen.

Andie turned to Elijah, "So I know this is a social thing but I...I would really like to ask you a few more questions about the work you do here." she stuttered slightly.

He smiled, "I'd love to answer."

"Great...That's so great. Ric, could you do me a favour and get the notebook out of my bag?" Andie asked.

Alaric nodded and walked off towards her bag as Damon turned to Elijah, "Elijah did John tell you he's Elena's uncle/ father?"

"Yes, I'm well aware of that," Elijah answered politely.

"Of course she absolutely hates him so no need to keep him on the endangered species list," Damon elaborated with a smirk. "You'll be doing us all a huge favour," he finished.

"No Ric, the front pocket, on the... You know what excuse me guys," Andie rushed towards Alaric to retrieve the notebook herself.

"What I'd like to know, Elijah is how you intend to kill Klaus?" John inquired.

Diana tensed next to Elijah and he glanced at her briefly as she snapped angrily, "What I want to know is why you're here no one likes you, you're a bloody pest that keeps coming back and everyone just wants you to go away."

Sure, Diana, was mad at Klaus for snapping her neck but she didn't want him dead. After all, she still had unresolved feelings for him.

Damon's eyes widen at his sister's outburst. Elijah's eyes bore into Diana's back as she glared heatedly at John who gulped in fear.

"Gentlemen, there are probably a few things we should get clear right now. I allow you to live solely to keep an eye on Elena. I allow Elena to remain in her house living with her friends as she does as a courtesy. If you become a liability, I'll take her away and you'll never see her again," Elijah warned trying to diffuse the tension.

"Look at that John you finally became useful. Go ahead be an annoying liability like usual," Diana teased with a smirk. Both John and Damon rolled their eyes at her.

Andie then walked back into the room, "Ok, my first question is when you got here to Mystic Falls..."

Andie was however not able to finish her sentence as the sound of a chair scraping against the wood and the sound of a man groaning. Diana gasped, Elijah had been daggered by Alaric and he was desiccating with grey skin and dark veins running over his body.

"Are you serious? Do people seriously have a death wish? For Hera's sake do you want Elena to die, he's your only chance. I may not like her but I want my bothers happy," Diana babbled grasping Elijah's face and looking him over. Alaric thankfully hadn't left the dagger in so he would wake up soon.

Ignoring her, Ric looks at Damon, "Now get rid of him before Jenna comes back with dessert." Damon nods with a shocked look on his face. Diana shook her head and stormed out of the room leaving Damon to look after her with a slightly pained look on his face.

◊◊◊◊◊◊◊

Diana stood on her balcony looking at the stars. After everything that happened at dinner, Elijah had woken up and went after Elena which led to him being daggered again and this time with the dagger staying in. Damon sauntered into her room and frowned walking out onto the balcony.

"Hey."

Diana chuckled bitterly, "Hey? That's all you have to say to me."

Damon sighed, he hated it when his twin was mad at him, "Look I'm sorry but Elijah was a threat."

"He wasn't a threat Damon he was my friend and you couldn't get along with him so you shoved a dagger in his heart." Damon winced at his full name, she usually called him by one of his many nicknames.

"Ana, I'm truly sorry, I didn't know they were going to dagger him. I already had given up," Damon admitted shamefully. Diana sighed at his guilty expression and hugged him.

"It's fine Dames, watch the stars with me?" she pouted and he nodded looking up as she let go of the hug.

"You used to love looking at the stars when we were human," Damon mused.

"I have nyctophilia," Diana uttered. Damon looked at her weirdly.

"God is it contagious, I thought vampires can't get sick."

She slapped him over the head, "No dumbass it's the love of darkness or the night," his face made an 'o' shape as they looked back up.

"Anyway, I'm going to talk to Stef. I love you, Ana," Damon announced pressing a kiss to her forehead.

"Love you too Dames." she smiled.

Once he walked out of her room she sighed and held onto her necklace looking back up to the stars thinking of the one person that was always in the back of her mind.
