Marinette P.O.V.

"Tikki, transform me!" I yelled, as I stood in a closet I'd found after running out of the dining room from Heartbreaker. Tikki flew into my earrings and I frowned as my dress disappeared, changing into my Ladybug suit. Listen, being Ladybug is something I love and enjoy, but this meant I had to fight Adrien! I didn't want to fight the love of my life, especially not because he thinks I rejected him!

Quickly, I opened the closet door and ran into the hallway. My classmates, including Maman and Papa, were visibly hiding behind scattered plants and furniture, so I placed my index finger in front of my lips, signaling for them to be quiet. Papa was holding Maman behind a couch when he saw me. At first he looked extremely confused, but he quickly changed his expression to determined, and he nodded his head. I returned the gesture and ran to the dining room. 

Inside, Adrien, or Heartbreaker, was yelling in frustration and tossing things all over the room. I clenched my teeth in hesitation, then grabbed my yo-yo.

It's going to be hard to do this without, Chat. I mean, I'm all the way in China while he's probably in his civilian form somewhere in Paris, I thought as I threw my arm back, preparing to throw my yo-yo.

Heartbreaker saw me just as I was about to throw my yo-yo at him, and he aimed his the black rose toward me. I furrowed my eyebrows and dodged just in time, falling into a summersault. A growl came from Heartbreaker as I was quickly back on my feet, better than ever. 

"Where's Marinette?" He asked through gritted teeth. I swallowed hard, trying not to cry as I saw the one I love in pain.

"She's gone, Heartbreaker. You almost hurt her, so she had to leave," I replied, and jumped onto the table that had fallen on it's side. He looked down, seeming to be in thought, and I took that as a chance to capture him. I launched my yo-yo at him, preparing to wrap it around Heartbreaker, but he caught me off guard as he caught it with his hand.

I gasped as he began to enclose his hand tightly around my yo-yo. Then, cracks began to form and rays of light visibly began to shoot out. My heart raced and raced as I saw my only weapon, my supposedly unbreakable weapon, crumple into a pile shattered pieces before me. 

"That's what you get, Ladybug, for rejecting me, too," Heartbreaker whispered, giving me the most infuriated look I'd ever seen before. I stood there, a mix of emotions flooding through me. 

Rejected him? As Ladybug? When? How? I-I don't ever remember that. Was he confusing me with someone else? I thought as I fell to my knees in hopelessness. That was my only weapon, my only chance at beating him! How was I supposed to purify him without it? Oh my gosh, I can't even call out for a Lucky Charm! 

"W-What are you talking about?" I whispered, not even bothering to look up at him as he floated above me. An amused grunt was audible, making me more terrified and angry.

"Wow, you're almost as oblivious as Marinette!" He yelled, chuckling, "Do you realize how many times you've rejected me during our battles?! I've tried so hard to get you to notice how much I'd truly felt for you, but all you did was push me away."

Trying as hard as I could to piece everything together, I looked at him, seeing all of the anguish, the hate, the remorse, the anger he had been burdened with. 

"Battles?" I asked, and stood up. 

"Yes, Ladybug," He snapped, "the battles, every time we had fought against Hawkmoth back in Paris. Don't you remember, I mean, it was only a few days ago we fought against Volpina! Wow, you really need a refresher." The sarcasm in his tone made me more and more confused. What had he meant about 'every time we had fought against Hawkmoth?' 

The only person who fought along side with me against Hawkmoth and his Akumas was...

"Chat..." I breathed, barely believing it myself. Heartbreaker laughed, and my insides tossed and turned, my brain twisted and stumbled.

"It's about time, Bugaboo," He said, his voice matching Chat Noir's. I nearly fainted on the spot. If Adrien was Chat, then that means.... 

Oh my god.

"Adrien. Listen to me very carefully. You need to come down to me, and stand right here," I whispered, pointing at the floor right in front of me. He crossed his arms and Hawkmoth's symbol appeared once more. A tear fell down my cheek as I pushed every thought I had running around my brain out.

Adrien slowly floated down, standing right in front of me. I took a deep breath and looked into his eyes. The emerald green eyes I had come accustomed to so much were different. They were darker, and more distant, making me nervous.

Then, I did something I never imagined doing. I grabbed Adrien's cheeks, and pulled him into a kiss. At first he seemed hesitant, trying hard to push back, but he soon melted into it.

Chat Noir had been under the control of an Akuma before, so this shouldn't be too different right? After all, I didn't have any other way to help him, so this was my last shot. If it didn't work, I was all out of ideas, and China would fall victim to his power.

Adrien slowly pulled away, breathing heavily. I looked into his eyes questioningly, and saw them go from the dark emerald they had changed to, transform into the wonderful, cheerful light green color I loved.

"Ladybug?"

I closed my eyes and wrapped my arms around him in pure happiness. Adrien was taken aback, but quickly returned the hug. My heart raced and raced, and my legs went numb as I cried in the happiness of my love, Adrien, returning.

"I'm here," I whispered reassuringly, a smile spreading across my face, reaching from ear to ear. That's when I remembered, my yo-yo.

I sadly released Adrien, who was still wearing his light pink suit, and ran over to the scattered pieces of what was left of my weapon. How was I supposed to fix this? How was I supposed to purify the Akuma that was still haunting Adrien's physical body, even if his mental body returned.

How was I supposed to fix anything?

(A/N Oh boy well that just happened. Next chapter we'll be seeing Marinette fully react to Chat being Adrien, so don't go afar. Anyway, thank you for reading Chapter 16! How will Adrien return to his true self? Gee idk. Buh-bye!)
