"Australia huh?" Your friend asked for the hundredth time that day. "I still can't get over how cool that is!!" She squealed.
You roll your eyes, "It's cool, but it means I'm going to be stuck with my dad for almost three months in a foreign country." You sigh.
As soon as your father had hung up the phone, he had stomped upstairs and yelled at you to pack your things. So here you were, packing your things and talking to your friend on speaker.
"Yea.. Well, look on the bright side! At least they speak English in Australia!" Your friend pointed out cheerily.
You sigh, "I guess..." You mumble, carefully checking to make sure that you had packed everything.
You gave a satiated nod and quickly zipped up your bags just as your father started yelling for you to "get your useless ass down here because we're leaving".
"I have to go." You sigh.
"Right! Good luck (y/n)!! Call me when you get to Australia!" She said, you could practically hear the cheerful grin on her face.
"I'll try..." You mumble, already dreading the upcoming commute with your father.
Slowly, made your way down the stair to your father, who was impatiently tapping his foot, glaring daggers at you.
You do your best to ignore his hash look, flashing him a forced smile before being ushered out to the car.
You cross your legs, avoiding eye contact with your father, who sat across from you staring at his computer.
The car engine rumbled and took off, familiar scenery whizzing past the widows. You take an extra moment to take in the familiar sights, knowing you wouldn't see them for several months. Every tiny detail suddenly felt to significant, like the neatly cut flowers, or the way the street was slightly uneven in places.
Nobody spoke, leaving the space to be filled by the soft hum of the car and the angry tap of your father's fingers on his keyboard.
Traffic dragged along like always, making the trip take longer than usual. Once the car finally pulled up to the airport, grey clouds hung overhead.
You step out of the car, stretching before grabbing your bags. You watched your father fold up his computer and step out as well, he didn't bother with his bags, instead letting his attendants take them. You follow you father out to his private jet, and climb aboard.
Sinking into the plush seats of the plane, you avoid looking at your father aside from a few brief glances in his direction.
Outside, dark clouds boiled, but no one seemed concerned about bad weather. You sigh, flipping through your phone a few time before putting it away.
After what seemed like forever, the plane finally rumbled to life and began its lift off procedures.
You yawn, your eyes growing heavy. There was something about the gloomy skies, the rumble of the airplane's engine, and you early wake up that soothed you.
Before you knew if you drifted off to sleep.
***********
You were a princess, sitting in her castle, boredly flipping through pages of her book. Suddenly the castle shook, causing the book to fall from your hands.
Annoyed, you stood up and walked to the window to see what all
The commotion was about. You peered over the ledge for several seconds when suddenly a hideous and deformed dragon burst up, catching your dress in its mangled claw and dragging you away from the castle.
You scream, squeezing your eyes shut when you felt someone shaking your shoulder.
"(Y/n)! (Y/n)!! Wake up!!"
Your eyes snap open and your flew up. Next to you was an attendant who wore a rather worried look on her face.
"Finally.." She let out a relieved sigh. "Your father is starting to get annoyed, I suggest you get out there!"
"W-we're already here?" You ask, eyes widening, you hadn't realized that you had slept that long.
The attendant nodded nervously, "You were out for a long time miss (y/n)" she said, giving you a shaky, and forced smile.
You nod, not really listening to her, instead collecting your things and mentally preparing yourself for the verbal beating your father was going to give you. You collect a few bags and make your way to the door.
As soon as you stepped out of the plane, a warm breeze tickled your face, running through your already messy hair. Your eyes trail over the new scenery.
Anywhere that was t paved or built on was simply covered by dust and sad, bony shrubs. Everything seemed run down and out of date.
"I guess that's why dad's here..." You mutter, noticing your father, who was surrounded by a paparazzi already.
You sigh, turning your gaze back to the wasteland. "So this is Australia...."
