Jessica:
"Think this is enough food?" I asked Skyler as we brought more food out to table.
Thank goddess Rosette made me get a full set of plates and cutlery.
I wiped my hands on the towel I had slung over my shoulder. I was desperately trying to keep my black cocktail dress free from any crumbs before dinner.
"Luna Jess..." Skyler huffed as he rushed into the dinning room with another decanter full water. "...If these men eat all of this, I will not be surprised." He chuckled.
He wiped his hands on the towel he was holding. He matched me with his dark indigo wash jeans, and black button shirt. He wore a silver chain around his neck that had a Letter 'R' pendant.
I spun around and frowned. "Luna? Really?" I laughed as I played with my necklace from Eli. The necklace and matching earring set are my favorite accessories.
Skyler shrugged. "Might as well get used to it LUNA Jessica."
I shook my head side to side. "Guess you're right." A small smile grew on my face. Being called Luna meant I was growing into the roll.
Looks like I'm winning.
It didn't take long before Ryan and Eli showed up. They informed us that Rosette would sit this dinner out since she's waiting on word from the guards about Vik's whereabouts.
Everyone seemed so confident that he was fine, but I had a strange feeling about it. I couldn't imagine Ember or Eli ever leaving me without a word for this long.
"Ryan! Stop it!" Skyler slapped Ryan's hand away from the biscuits sitting on the table. I chuckled when I saw Ryan glare back at Skyler. I was peering at them through the doorway in the kitchen.
"Sky... I'm starving. No one will notice." He whined. Grabbing Sky around the waist, and pulling him in closer. "Fine... If I can't have the biscuits..." He whispered into his neck.
I heard Skyler giggle as I quickly left the kitchen to find Eli. No reason to spy on their cuteness when I can have my own.
Where's my snuggles?!- I said in my head, hoping Ember might hear me.
If the amazing Ms. Charlotte can talk to wolves then so can I right?
I crashed into Eli as I made my way into the living room. "Sorry Eli." I giggled as I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him in close to me. "I was missing you." I looked up into his perfect blue eyes with the gold sparkles flashing in and out.
Hello Em.
He smirked down at me, watching as I bit my lip in anticipation, before smashing his lips against mine.
His kisses were never quick. He always took the time to explore every inch of my mouth, savoring my flavor.
Leaving me completely dazed for a moment.
I heard Skyler clear his throat. "Um - The door?" He looked at us, raising an eyebrow while Ryan laughed.
Knock knock
"OH!" I quickly made my way around Eli to the door. I turned around one last time raising an eyebrow at Eli. "Play. Nice." I pointed my finger at both Ryan and Eli.
Ryan pretended to be offended while holding a hand to his chest. Skyler jabbed an elbow into Ryan's side. Eli crossed his arms and huffed. I rolled my eyes before plastering on a smile.
"Ember LOVE Ezren! Ember play nice Mate!"
"Thanks Em." I said out loud as I smirked. Honestly, I have the best Wolf Mate.
This is my moon sister. We're supposed to bring peace. I repeated the mantra in my head. I must get on her good side.
I opened the door to reveal a smiling Asher and, a not frowning Charlotte.
I guess that's better than before right?
"Thank you so much for coming over!" I swung open the door and ushered them inside.
"Not like we could turn down an invite from the Princess and her crew..." Charlotte mumbled under her breath.
And there it is.
Asher shot her a glare causing her face to turn a shade of pink. Looks like Asher would like her to behave herself. Interesting.
"Thank you so much for having us...." He looked around the room with wide eyes. "Is there where you and your Leadership live?" He looked over at Prince Eli.
He cleared his throat. "No. This condo belongs to Princess Jessica and I." We moved to the living room, each of us taking a seat on one of the two couches. I sat in Eli's lap on the chair in the corner.
Bad idea, I could feel his excitement from our kiss earlier.
Not. Now. Eli.
It went quiet for a moment. I glanced over at Skyler. He gave me an odd nod which I assumed meant "give them a tour".
"Would you two like a tour?" I stood up excitedly. "We are nearly finished with the master bedroom." I looked over at Skyler who smiled.
Good, Nod Confirmed.
Asher smiled big. "Okay Princess, but, I really don't think anyone is going to believe this back home." He chuckled while squeezing Charlotte's hand. "Dinner with the Prince and Princess of the Easter Realm in their home." He shook his head side to side.
I laughed and even Eli smirked.
Skyler had a silly frown on his face. "And what are we Asher?! Do we mean nothing?"
It was silent for a moment.
Then we all busted up laughing.
Except for Charlotte, she smirked.
You could feel the tension slowly leaving as we continued laughing and throwing jabs at each other. Eli, Ryan, and Asher seemed to click almost instantly, warming my heart. I felt quite accomplished already.
I knew they would all get along. Step one, Accomplished!
We all stood up and the Boys followed their noses to dinner table, but I pulled Charlotte by the arm , keeping her in the hallway.
I had finally finished a painting of the moon goddess and some of the places I saw in my dream. I desperately wanted to share them with someone who understood. I hoped with a little bit of alone time, Charlotte might open up.
"Hey Charlotte. I know the boys aren't going to last any longer for a tour, but I'd really love to show you something. Do you mind?"
She furrowed her brows at me and shrugged. "Lead the way your majesty..." I sighed at the way she said 'Your Majesty', but continued down the hallway. "...It's not like you could really hurt me anyways."
I whipped my head around as we made it to the end of the hallway, I glared at her for a moment. My hands on my hips. I had so many different things I wanted to say, but this invisible force seemed to stop me. I played the scenarios in my head and nothing I wanted to say would end well.
Charlotte stood with her arms crossed over her chest. "Are you just going to stand there staring at me all day?"
I sighed, moving my hands to my sides once again. "You know, when the Moon Goddess told me I had some Moon Sisters, I - well - I felt so happy not to be alone in this..." I stared into her eyes, looking for something other than disdain. I noticed her eyes soften slightly. "...I know we started off on the wrong foot, but, I do believe there's a reason the Moon Goddess is trying to bring us together."
I stood there for a moment waiting for some response. She cleared her throat and ran a hand through her hair. "So- what's in here?" She said with a small smile. Not one rude remark, no stiff body language.
Good. We're moving forward. Baby steps...
I smiled proudly. "I want to show you some of my artwork I've done recently. I was inspired by my dreams of the Moon Goddess. I thought you might find them familiar." I turned back to the door and slowly opened it.
I lead us into the room which now had a drawing table and painting table. A wall full of shelves that held my art books, drawing pads and supplies, paints and small frames. The huge open window which faced the whole Pack was glorious. You could see everything in a pink-orange tint as the sun was setting.
"Mate OK?" I heard Ember in my head.
I wish I could talk back. I tried to send a flurry of happy feelings back in hopes Eli wouldn't come storming in looking for me.
I watched as Charlotte moved towards the first painting. Her eyes were wide as she lifted her hand to touch it, but quickly stuck in back down at her side.
The painting was of the Moon Goddess, Reena. Filled with Gold and Silver paint, the contrast against her Chocolate skin tone and her beautiful bright eyes. Truly she was something otherworldly.
I moved closer to Charlotte, trying not to interrupt her thoughts. That's when I suddenly noticed her. All of her.
She was wearing a black knee length pencil skirt, but it had a tear on the side that wasn't mended well. Her button down White blouse looked a size too big, and her pumps had scoff marks. They didn't look very comfortable either.
She ran a hand through her short brown hair and I could tell it needed a trim. She could probably use a proper manicure, and a little makeup on her eyes would really make them pop.
She was the Gamma's Mate of their pack. From everything I've learned, I was under the impression all females behaved a certain way. We were expected to look a certain way. She's obviously something different. Her pack must have different expectations.
"Wow Princess..." She startled me out of my thoughts. "...These are really amazing. I know all these places. I've seen Reena in my dreams for the last 5 years and you captured her essence perfectly."
My jaw dropped. "Five Years!" I gasped after I said it. How could this be? "I thought maybe you had to be 18 before she came to you."
Charlotte moved to the large window at the front of the room looking down at the pack land around us. "Not at all, I've had these abilities since I was a teenager. I was the chosen one in our pack, but, this time it was different." She mumbled that last part. "I'm not as powerful as the others before me." She sighed and looked over at me.
My jaw still hung open as the words she was saying. I shook my head side to side. "I'm sorry Charlotte, but up until last night, I thought I was the only one like this. No one here knows much about my abilities except that they resemble those of Princess Reena."
Charlotte knit her eyebrows together. "Princess Jessica, Do you not know the History of the Chosen Females from the Southern Realm? Those chosen by the Moon Goddess, herself, to protect those outsiders who can't protect themselves?"
I shook my head side to side, embarrassed that I don't know much about any other realm. I've been so focused on learning how to be the perfect little Princess and planning this coronation that I haven't given any other realm much thought.
What kind of leader doesn't know about the world around them? How am I supposed to lead a pack or let alone an entire realm?
Charlotte searched my eyes, almost like she couldn't believe it herself. "I'll give you the short version..." She moved to the couch near the shelves where Eli usually sits while it watches paint.
Did I clean this couch since the last time we-
She quickly sat on the couch patting the seat next to her.
Oh well too late now.
I sat down slowly, almost nervous about how close we were sitting to each other.
She took a deep breath in, letting it out in a huff as she relaxed a bit. "So, for as long as anyone can remember, the Southern tribes have always belonged to one pack. The Moon Lily Pack. We have always been a small collection of outsiders from other realms. Most of us displaced because of War..."
She fiddled with the end of her skirt as she continued. "In the beginning, one female was born to one of the tribes and this female was born with great powers. Powers that we all knew came from our fabulous Moon Goddess. This female would become the protector of the tribes. She would keep enemies at bay, and become the spokesperson for our pack. She never took a mate as it was thought pregnancy weakened their powers..."
She looked over at me as she ran a hand through her hair again. I could tell she was getting nervous as she spoke. "There was one problem though. Every female would eventually go mad. The power would become too much for their bodies to handle and they would eventually have to be put down. Until Princess Reena."
I sat still as ever, almost afraid to breath. I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
She swallowed hard, ran her hands through her hair again. "Princess Rena was different. She seemed to have a great handle on the Moon Goddess abilities. She found a friendship in your realm, soon all four realms seemed to be in a state of peace. Once she was murdered, no female was chosen, until me."
"And me?" She nodded her head in response.
We sat in silence for a moment before she spoke up again. "Ezren is going crazy in there without me." She chuckled. "He's so hyper all the time."
I chuckled with her. "Oh really? Rosette says Vik is the same way."
She stood up and turned towards me with a small smile on her face. "I hope I will have the Pleasure of helping you train Princess Jessica."
I stood up and linked our arms together, she stiffened and frowned but didn't pull away.
Baby steps...
"I would love that Charlotte. Does that mean you plan on staying?" I looked over at her with a shy smile on my face. I would love to have her train me, but I didn't want to get my hopes up.
She had a small smile on her face when she looked down at me. "Perhaps."
Get Charlotte on my side, even if she doesn't absolutely love me. Step two, Accomplished!
I opened the door and ushered her out first. "I would love to learn more about these chosen women and your realms history. This is all still new too me."
She turned and furrowed her brows at me. "What do you mean? Are you Human?" She whispered low, leaning in closer.
I laughed. "No, but, I might as well have been. My parents went rouge before I was born and kept this whole werewolf world a secret until just a little while ago."
Her eyes went wide.
I giggled. "It's the truth. I've only been in this realm for a few months."
She shook her head side to side. "And now you're the soon to be Luna of this Pack and Princess of the Realm..." She let out a breath. "What could the Moon Goddess be thinking?" She mumbled as I rolled my eyes.
She shrugged. "What?"
Well, we went quite a while since her last rude comment. Baby Steps...
We turned the corner and stepped into the dinning room.
I headed straight towards my seat next to Eli who was laughing loudly with Ryan and Asher. I glanced back at Charlotte who stared at me with her RBF again. I shot her my sweet smile back.
It's ok Charlotte, I know I'm growing on you.
"Hey Beautiful, where were you?..." Eli pulled me by the waist, bringing me close to him as he sat at the head of the table. I couldn't even sit down. He took my hand in his and kissed up my arm.
I swear you'd think I was gone for hours. I chuckled as I bent down and kissed his forehead.
"I swear Jess, I warned the guys not to eat everything." He looked up at me with worried eyes as I glanced at the nearly empty platters of food. I laughed.
"Whoa! Was it good? Did you guys like it though?" I stared at everyone around the table, an excited smile spread across my face.
Asher spoke up first. "It was delicious Princess Jessica. I would live a very happy life if I could eat like this everyday."
I chuckled as Charlotte swatted his arm. He faked being hurt. "Ah come on Kitty. You know you're better at kicking ass than you are at cooking."
Charlotte rolled her eyes at him as we all laughed.
This dinner party went better than I thought it would.
Sean:
Just keep running.
Don't stop.
Rosette...
"Mate..." Vik said softly in the back of my head as I kept running.
"Stay with me Vik!" I yelled in my head as the tears began to fill my eyes.
What's wrong with Vik?!
What did that witch do to me?!
Flash back:
After shifting and running as far as I possibly could, I found myself on the other side of the city. I was screwed with no clothes and few places to hide. I finally came across some old clothes in a donation drop off and tried to make my way through the city.
My anger was gone but it was replaced with sadness.
That's when I noticed the female following me. Watching me. I assumed she was a scout for some rogues and figured she'd sense my royal blood and move on. Instead, she persisted.
I don't have time for this.
"Vik what is with this female? Is she human?"
"Female have power Sean."
I furrowed my brows. Power?
"A female like Jessica?"
"No. Vik thinks Witch."
I rolled my eyes. Witches are so damn annoying. They think they are so powerful but their power is nothing compared to an other magical creature on this earth.
"They only have power in large numbers right Vik?"
"Yes."
Let's just get this over with.
I quickly turned down an alley way and waited for her to follow me.
Like I expected she turned the corner right away and I growled low in my throat. Intending to scare her a bit. Instead she stood tall right in front of me, arms crossed.
She didn't look much older than 13? She wasn't much taller than Rosette. Her long black hair and pale skin with deep, dark eyes made her look not quite human. She smelled of magic, a magic too powerful for this tiny little girl.
"Who is this female Vik?"
"Something not right, Sean..."
"You and your stupid little wolf don't scare me." She spoke just above a whisper.
She quickly placed her hands on either side of my face and I instantly felt a sharp pain in my head.
It spread down my back and through my limps. Every muscle twitched as I tried to take control of my body again.
"VIK!" I roared inside my mind. "SHIFT!!!"
I heard a whimper, "SEAN!!!" He roared back.
He sounded far away. What's happening?
I fell to my knees roaring out loud.
I felt as if my soul was being ripped apart. My heart was breaking. I shook and thrashed as the pain continued to ravage my body.
She finally let me go. Cackling like a mad little girl. "Stupid wolf. Tell your alpha to be ready, we're coming for him." Her voice sound cold and harsh even though she still had the high pitched voice of a child.
I sat on the hard, cold concrete, teeth still chattering as I watched her walk towards the opening of the alleyway. "Wh-What di-d you d-do to m-me?" I could barely form the words as the pain still pulled through my body.
She smirked at me. "Just a little taste of what we'll do to your Prince when we get our hands on him." She turned on her heel, throwing the peace sign up in the air. "See you around stupid little wolf." She seemed to walk through a shimmering wall disappearing into thin air.
Who knows how long I sat there before the pain subsided.
"Vik? What happened? What did she do to us?"
No response.
"Vik?"
"Vik- N-not know. Vik need m-mate. P-please..."
I shot up at the sound of my wolf's voice.
"Just hold on VIK!"
End flash back
Keep Running...
I roared as the pain in my legs grew.
"Vik! Let me shift! Please..."
"VIK!"
I tried to smell my way to through the forest but I couldn't. I had to rely on my visual memories to continue towards the castle, but after many wrong turns, I finally found my way to the main road and ran as fast as I could down the road.
My wolf senses are fading.
My wolf strength is fading.
My Wolf is dying?
"VIK!!!" I roared inside me.
Tears streaming down my face as I finally saw the castle gate.
"Sean... Vik- Vik- n-need mate..." His voice barely a whisper in my mind.
My vision blurred as I fell to the ground. I heard voices. The guards?
I felt my body go limp on the ground.
"Kitten..." was the last word I spoke from my lips as I sent visions of Rosette through my mind hoping with the last of my strength, that Vik would hold on just a little longer.
A/N:
