♔.Chapter 1.♔

♔ SARAH'S POINT OF VIEW ♔

I jolted awake in the sound of the alarm clock blaring, telling me to get out of bed. I groan, not wanting to go back to the building I call school.

"Die! Die! Begone! " I screamed while in the midst of smashing my fist on the noisy alarm clock. When it stopped, I stumbled out of bed and made it to the bathroom.

I wiped the drool away from my cheeks and stripped out of my clothes for a bath. Instantly grabbing the strawberry shampoo, I leathered it on my dirty blonde hair and rinsed, finishing the rest of my bath with a warm daze of water.

For my clothes, I put on my twelve inch uniform skirt and my white T-shirt, topped with my school blazer. I picked my black knee socks and black school shoes to go along with my outfit. I braided my blonde hair into a ponytail, applied eyeliner, and mascara which really complemented my big brown eyes.

I emerged from my room, fully dressed and ready. But I still need breakfast, so I head to the kitchen to grab a piece of toast and a warm glass of milk.

"Morning Mom," I greeted, kissing her on the cheeks. "Morning Dad," I did the same to my Dad who is reading the newspaper.

"Morning dear, " Mom replied, while Dad just hummed in response.

Mom and Dad barely awknowledge my presence, being the busy parents they are. Mom works as an assistant for the CEO of a magazine company, while Dad works as a comic publisher because of his love for comical characters. Maybe that's where I got my talent in drawing. But basically I can draw anything except a tree. I know, how can you not know how to draw a tree?

The branches, that's what's hard.

However, I finished my small breakfast of toast and milk, grabbed my bag and skateboard, and made my way to the door, ready for what's next.

"Sarah! "

"Kylie! "

I rushed to get to my best friend, hooking our arms as we walk continuously to school. It has always been like this. We walk to school together everyday because we'd always be late for the bus. And usually chatter about things not known or understandable by mankind.

Kylie Jones has been my best friend for who knows how long. She is very smart, in fact, she looks at me and always treats me like scum on every exam. She is not just smart, but also attractive. She has this dark brown hair that goes along with any style and alluring green eyes that makes her features glow. She's beautiful, really. And I'm proud to call her my best friend.

"You know, I think Ms Carlisle made you drop on purpose. You were so good in Math! " She exclaimed.

"Oh please, I didn't even answer the square root of 25, 800. " I replied.

"Maybe. But it's because you've been staring at that new Irish fellow all the time," She smirked, "But don't worry, nobody even noticed. "

We giggled hysterically, the school building coming to view.

"Here we go again. " I muttered.

As we enter the building, we walked through the corridors with my skateboard in hand. This school is just your typical high school gig. It seemed like your everyday jungle school where the panthers (school slags), Gorillas (jocks ), ostriches (skinny cheerleaders), and giraffes (smart nerds) all huddled up in one building. And we always know that 80 percent of students here never took interest in education. Typical.

"And here we have to take in the area of Mr Garcia's patio. Now to find the area, we have to study the formula.... " Ms Carlisle trailed off. Having too much of boredom in this lesson, my ears refused to continue listening.

Looking around, I can see Kylie engrossed in the explanation Ms Carlisle was giving us, but the lot of the class were in a bored state of mind.

When all of a sudden, the legendary bell rang, earning a sigh of relief from the rest of the class.

"Now class dismissed, do your homework from page 31 by the end of the week." Ms Carlisle announced, "If I get excuses instead, I'll give you another project to work on! "

Once I got out, I didn't wait for Kylie to go out also since we are going on different classes. Instead, I grabbed my skateboard from the doorway and rode through the hallways, making sure not to bump into anyone as I make my way through the crowd of students.

Reaching my locker, I enter my code on the lock and opened it. I placed all my books in and reaching out for the ones I needed. Finally closing it, I headed out for English class. But on my way there, everything seemed to go slowly when I spotted Darren, the new transfer student from Ireland.

Darren.

Even his name sounds so heavenly, even on my mind. He became so popular because of his good looks. Brown quiff with blonde tips made his grey, Smokey eyes very noticeable. His first day here was last week and he became popular instantly. Irish luck, I guess. Even I didn't get to the popular table when I won that Campus Tourism Beauty Contest.

God, I wish I could just ----

"Ahhh!"

Eventually the fantasies stopped when the Campus Queen, Margaret Teller, bumped into me resulting in my books flying to God knows where. She towered over me, and I could see her three sidekicks behind her snickering.

"Oh my God! I'm terribly sorry, Sandy, " she chirped.

I stood up, grunting as I fix my outfit. "It's Sarah. Your memory is missing. Just like the buttons on your uniform. " I seethed before bending down to pick up the books that lay discarded on the floor. And from my peripheral vision, I can see Darren, amusement present in his grey eyes.

"Well, well, well, seems like we have a talker here. " She smirked, "But I've got things to do and places to go. I wouldn't want to waste energy on garbage like you. " And with that, she flipped her platinum blonde hair and strutted away, her minions in tow.

"Hey Margaret, you need a bigger underwear! Your arse is getting so fat, your panties doesn't even begin to cover it! " I yelled, and do mean every word of it. I mean, her skirt is so short you can see the blue thong she's wearing!

I shook my head in disapproval of the world today. I mean, who makes a string of thread as undergarments?

Margaret Teller is the School President, just your everyday head girl who is bound to bully a girl named Sarah Highland for life. As cheesy as it sounds, she used to be my best friend. Until she became a snob and basically turned into a fake Barbie doll. I mean, her hair isn't fake, it's natural. But her boobs and butt is. Sigh.

Noticing the time, I rushed to my class, only to be stopped by a hand on my elbow. When I turned to look at the person holding me, my brown orbs met up with grey ones. I almost choked on my spit as I recognised the face.

"Hi, uhm, what you did.... that was..... that was hilarious. " He stuttered. I find it cute when he was stuttering, especially with that thick accent of his.

"Oh, uh, thanks. Well, I have to get to class. " I said. Really now?

"Oh, yeah. " he replied, letting go of my arm. "I'm Darren, by the way. "He smiled. Yeah, I know.

"Sarah. " I smiled back. Once I remembered my class, I widen my eyes, earning a chuckle from Darren.

"Well, I best be off. Nice meeting you, Sarah. " He said, finally running off to meet his waiting friends.

Me being the lovesick puppy I am, just made the little "meep" sound while turning around and waddling through the hallways.

I better say thank you to the slag. I joked. Well, it is reasonable since without her big butt blocking my way, Darren wouldn't have noticed me.

Now to Mr William's English class.

"Is there a reason in which you are late, Miss Highland? " Mr Williams questioned when I came in, making everyone glance my way.

"Well, Mr Williams, I was taking a loo in the bathroom when I saw dirt smudged on the mirrors, " I smirked. "Me being the good student I am, decided to clean it since I wouldn't want filth interfering the business between my bladder and I. " I explained, and my teacher seemed taken back. I don't even know how God would give me a useful talent as this, seeing it that I always get away with everything.

He rolled his eyes, "Just take your seat, Highland. "

I obeyed him, strutting to where my seat is, which is beside the window on the far back of the classroom. While Mr William continued his lesson which was cut off because of my grand entrance, I could see the rest of my classmates holding their laughs back. Please, that wasn't even funny.

Not bothering to listen, my mind flew elsewhere. I was engrossed in my own fantasies, of random things I could be. Like maybe a doctor? No, too much blood. Teacher? I do not want to look crazy while speaking when no one is listening. Popstar? Yeah, when you can actually sing.

".....so if Anna isn't a royalty, would she still go out with the man.... " Mr Williams read.

What about a Princess?

I suddenly woke up from my dreamy state.

Princess?! This isn't the 18th century, Sarah.

Has a nice ring to it eh? Princess Sarah.
God, I really need to stop watching Barbie movies.

Reminds me of Margaret.

My thoughts were cut off when a piece of paper hit my head, making me snap my head to where the paper came from.

I rolled my eyes when I saw that it was just Jay, knowing that he would want me to pick the paper up.

I glanced at Mr Williams before bending down to take the paper he threw. Opening it, I read the Egyptian Hieroglyphics that really took a while to decipher. But actually it was just his handwriting that would be mistaken as a doctor's prescription.

Hey, r u gunna go 2 Darren's bday party this weeknd???!

I took a glance at his seat, then shook my head 'no'. As much as I want to, I'm just a nobody after all. I don't have the right to go to a school king's birthday party. That will just be plain weird.

I wrote "how bout u" back and crumpled it before throwing it to him.

Jay picked it up, careful not to get caught. After he read it he turned to my way, then put on a thumbs up, notifying me that he was coming there.

Jay Rogers is also a nobody like Kylie and me, it's just that he doesn't care and he's all fun and games, which got him to be a somebody. I mean, the guy is undeniably good looking and he got the personality of a Jock, only that he just pranks people and doesn't care of the risks.

Surely he got girls swooning over him because of his curly brown locks and crystal green eyes, but he still didn't manage to get to the popular table. He's a somebody, but not popular enough to be like Darren and Margaret.

But trust me, being known all over the school means that there are a lot of people saying crap about you behind your back. So if you'll ask me, it's better being a nobody than a somebody, for that matter. Sigh.

"Hey Mom, I'm back, " I announced the second I came in the house, but no one answered.

I sighed, knowing that they're still at work. Instead I dropped my bag on the couch and skipped upstairs to get dressed.

Once I got dressed in shorts and spaghetti straps, I grabbed my laptop and logged into a certain site, quickly dialing Kylie's number. With a few rings, she answered and the face of my best friend came into view.

"Hey Kyles!" I greeted with a smile on my face.

"Hey Sarah! " she replied.

"Do you still have that calculus book you borrowed from me? I kind of need it now. "

"Year sure, I'll give it to you first thing tomorrow. "

I smiled, "Thanks, you're the best. "

"Always is. But hey, are you going to Darren's party? "

My smiled turned into a frown as I was thinking. "Well, no. What about you? "

"I don't know. They invited me though. But my parents are going to Liverpool to visit my granny. So basically I don't know if I have the guts to go. "

"Wait, wait, wait, wait,.... they invited you?! " I asked, rather surprised.

"Yeah. You and me actually. "

"Do you know what this means, Kylie Jones?! " I exclaimed.

"We're getting to the popular table? "

"No! That Margaret is clearly brewing trouble for us that wants us to go there! "

"Jesus, Sarah, relax! It's Darren's birthday party. Not Margaret's. And she's not going to be there. "

I stopped in my tracks. "Wait, what? "

"You are so outdated, Sarah Highland. She is going to Florida for the weekend."

Well this is a fasinating surprise. Maybe I can go to the party after all.
