"Jimin!" comes an urgent call from his soulmate that has Jimin scrambling to sit up in bed at the tone.

They had a day off, which meant most of the members were either resting (as Yoongi obviously was, evident through the heavy snores echoing down the hallway) or partying with friends (as Jungkook most certainly was, evident through the gibberish he had texted Jimin — Typical of a drunk Jungkook).

Seconds later, Taehyung frantically bursts through the door and all but jumps into bed beside Jimin.

"Look! Look!" He cries, shoving his phone a little too close to Jimin's face and making the other go cross-eyed.

"Ahh, my eyes," Jimin grumbles, snatching the phone from Taehyung's hand and keeping it a good distance from his eyes.

"What's this?" Jimin asked, brows furrowed at the picture of princess Diana and Jungkook edited side by side.

"A theory!"

"A what—?"

"It's a theory about our Jungkookie."

"What about him?" Jimin asks, eyes shifting from the screen to meet Taehyung's.

"Apparently, some people think that Jungkook is the reincarnation of Princess Diana."

There's stunned silence that meets Taehyung's words. For a solid five seconds, Jimin only stares at Taehyung, blinking rapidly as if struggling to digest what Taehyung had just said. Then, he burst out laughing, hunching in over himself and allowing gravity to tug him down onto the mattress.

"P-princess Diana? And our Jungkookie?" He wheezed, clutching his aching tummy.

Taehyung nodded vigorously, unfazed and began to spill out the theory he read minutes ago on the very post that was on his phone screen.

"Yeah, listen. They’re saying that Diana died on August 31st, 1997, and Jungkook was born on September 1st, 1997. People think there’s a connection."

"Lots of people around the world were born on September 1st, 1997," Jimin pointed out, his laughter slowly dying down, "heck, I wouldn't even be surprised if a minute after Diana's death, somewhere around the world, a baby was born."

"Diana was afraid... terrified of microwaves!" Taehyung cried, throwing his hands into a fury of gestures as though trying to prove a very important point, "So is our Jungkookie!"

Jimin raised a brow, "are you trying to convince me that Jungkook might actually be Princess Diana, reincarnated?"

"I know! I know, this is insane. But, like… what if?" Taehyung asked, face suddenly turning serious, and he looked at Jimin with wide eyes. "What if it's true? What if Jungkook really is Princess Diana, reincarnated?"

Jimin stared at him, blinking slowly. "You can’t be serious."

"I mean… just think about it!" Taehyung exclaimed, sitting up. "Diana's death date and Jungkook's birth date! The scar on their cheek! Their irrational fear of microwaves—"

"That's not evidence enough!" Jimin cried.

"Jungkook has a heart of gold. He's fun-loving. He's fucking gorgeous. He's kind!"

"Still not evidence enough," Jimin piped in.

"Fine! Then we need proof!"

"And how exactly, Mr. Kim Taehyung, do you plan to get proof of the same? Unless you have ties with some spirits in the spiritual world, I doubt you're gonna get any documents of reincarnation!"

"No, no. Not that kind proof. Like...we observe him! We keep a very close on him and analyse his every move."

"That sounds creepy," Jimin pointed out.

Taehyung remained undeterred.

"We find links. Through observation! What do you say? You ready to find out if our Kookie was once Diana, the Princess of Wales?"

"This is ridiculous," Jimin sighed, "but fine, I'm in."

"Operation princess kookie starts now!" Taehyung said, sounding so serious that it made Jimin snort at just how absurd it was.

And it was in the name of this very mission that had the maknae line occupying the couch, Jimin and Jungkook cuddled up together on one end while Taehyung was sprawled out on the other end, watching a movie.

And not just any movie.

But one that Taehyung carefully picked out after a quick and thorough research on the plot line.

The story?

A mom killed in a tragic car crash, leaving her two beautiful sons behind, a five and a seven year-old.

The reason?

A video on past-life regression therapy showed a therapist explaining how people often carry unexplained fears and emotions from their past lives into their current one. Taehyung had immediately pounced on Jimin, claiming that if Jungkook reacted emotionally to the movie, it could possibly mean that unconsciously, he was being reminded of his past life that ended pretty tragically.

Jimin swore he wasn't as invested in the mission as Taehyung was. Curious, yes. But definitely not invested to the extent that Taehyung was.

Jungkook, unaware of the masterplan, relaxed on the couch as the movie played.

As time ticked by, the plot began to thicken. Jungkook's eyes were already filled with unshed tears as the mother desperately tried to flee from the scene, the car shooting down the street.

Jungkook couldn't help a gasp that slipped past his lips when the driver of the car lost control over the vehicle, causing the car to flip over.

"No," Jungkook cried, startling Jimin and Taehyung went wide-eyed.

"No, no. Her c-children," Jungkook sobbed, not even bothering to cover how upset he was, "please...please tell me she doesn't die."

Jimin tugged the distressed man close, kissing the top of his head.

"Calm down, baby. It's only a movie," Jimin whispered, comfortingly.

He met Taehyung's gaze over Jungkook's head. The other was grinning as though Jungkook's reaction was a huge achievement.

A soft sob pulled Jimin's attention back to Jungkook. The scene had now shifted to the funeral of the mother with the two boys crying over her closed coffin.

"My emotional bean," Jimin whispered fondly and couldn’t help but softly smile as he rubbed Jungkook’s arm in comfort.

Taehyung, meanwhile, pulled out his phone and started typing in the Notes app, as if documenting evidence.

Jungkook cries during car accident scenes = possible Princess Diana trauma.

Jimin glanced over and saw Taehyung’s note, biting the inside of his cheek to keep from laughing. Taehyung’s dedication to this absurdity was hilarious.

As the movie ended and the credits rolled, Jungkook wiped his face and sniffled, clearly still emotional. “That was… so sad,” he whispered, his voice thick with emotion.

Jimin kissed the top of his head. “I know, baby. I know.”
