Chapter Two: The Prince's Dilemma

Simeon yawned, hovering his hand over his mouth to try to cover it. "Sorry about that," he apologized, thinking yawning was a bit rude.

"It's okay," the smaller angel reassured. "By the way, Simeon. . . Have you been getting enough sleep? You normally don't yawn as much as you did today."

"I haven't," Simeon admitted. "I suppose there has been something on my mind."

Luke tilted his head slightly to the side. "What do you mean?"

". . .Nothing important." Simeon didn't like to lie, but he didn't want Luke to worry. He briefly thought of Y/n laughing at his poor excuse of a joke, and a light red dusted his cheeks. He shook his head slightly to clear his thoughts. If I continue down this road, I won't be able to return.

"Yoo-hoo, mister angel!" Witch B called out to the passing angels. "Come here for a second, please!"

Simeon glanced at Luke before deciding to go over. He smiled brightly to be friendly. "Hello miss, is there something we can help you with?

Witch B smiled deviously. "Yes, there is actually."

Luke eyed the witch suspiciously. "What is it?"

She brought out a identical bottle to the one she gave Mammon earlier. She rubbed the glass gently with her thumb. "You see, I was going to give this to my friend but she doesn't want it. It's a herbal remedy for sleeplessness, and I think you could use it. I hope you don't mind that I overheard your conversation."

"It's alright," Simeon accepted her apology easily. "Are you sure you want to give it to us?"

"Of course! Here, why don't you take it?" Witch B encouraged, practically shoving the bottle into his arms. "Here, here! Free of charge, of course!"

Simeon stumbled back a bit due to the forceful shove. "U-Uhm, thank you very much miss."

"You're very welcome! Drink it all for the full effect, okay~?" She giggled. "Bye bye now mister angel!" She quickly ran off, leaving the bottle with them.

"That was strange," Luke noticed. "I don't think you should drink that, Simeon. She's a witch, it might be poison or something."

Simeon inspected the bottle in his hands. "I'm sure I'll be fine," he comforted. "Let's head back. I'm sure Solomon is wondering where we are."

"Is that what you're worried about?" Luke sighed, shaking his head ever so slightly. "Sometimes I think you're too trusting of people in Devildom."

"Goodnight Luke, Solomon," Simeon chirped, in a considerably better mood than before. "I'll talk to you tomorrow."

Solomon waved goodbye but Luke hesitated to leave. He lingered in the doorway. "I really hope you're not seriously considering drinking that remedy that witch gave us, Simeon."

"I don't see the harm in it."

"Please just consider not drinking it," he requested worriedly.

Simeon smiled. "Of course. Get some rest, Luke. Maybe you'll grow taller."

"I'm not short!" Luke squeaked. "Goodnight, Simeon!" He retreated back to his own room.

The taller angel closed his door after Luke left. He yawned again. I'm going to drink it, he decided. If there is something harmful in it, Solomon will find a way to help me out. I'm sure of it. He immediately picked up the bottle from his desk. He carefully pulled the cork out of the bottle, placing it down.

He lifted the bottle to his lips, letting the liquid into his mouth and down his throat. His adam's apple moved slightly as he swallowed it all down. After he was finished, he gently put the bottle down next to the cork. Simeon wiped his mouth with a handkerchief he had on his desk and got ready for bed.

As Simeon laid in bed that night, blankets pulled up to his shoulders, he started to wonder if he should've thought drinking the remedy through. It tasted bitter, and he could still feel a little bit of it on his tongue. After a few minutes, he wished that he listened to Luke and maybe asked Solomon to check if it really was a herbal remedy. Maybe. . . Maybe he really was too trusting.

What would Y/n say? He sighed quietly to himself. Closing his eyes, he drifted off to sleep much more easily than he thought he would.

.-.-.-.-.-.

"Wake up, your highness! We have a big day ahead of us!" A cheerful voice chirped, stirring him from his slumber.

Simeon slowly blinked his eyes open. He sat up at the same pace, gazing around the much more larger room than he was accustomed to. He felt the plush bed underneath him curiously. He didn't recognize anything except Luke, who was standing by the bed eagerly. "Luke."

"Yes, your highness?"

"Where are we?" He inquired. "Why are you calling me that?"

Luke tilted his head to the side. "What do you mean? This is your castle, and it's only respectful to address you that way because you're a prince."

"A prince?" Simeon awkwardly laughed. "I don't think I'm a prince."

"Huh?! Are you still asleep, your highness?" Luke gasped. "This isn't good. We must call the physician immediately! Today is the day of the ball, and you must be in tip-top shape your highness!"

Okay. This was getting weird. "Is Diavolo on this prank?"

". . .Diavolo? Who's that?" Luke frowned. "And nobody would prank you, your highness. You're a prince, after all."

I'm a prince? The last thing I remember is- Ah, this must be a dream. How silly of me. Perhaps I shall play along. "Nevermind then. Shall we go prepare for this ball?" Simeon stood up, leaving the comforts of his very comfortable bed.

Luke smiled brightly. "Of course!"

"One thing, though, Luke. . ." He trailed off. "Uhm, why are we having this ball again?"

"To find you a suitable partner! Don't worry, your highness, I'll be there with you to help you look!"

"Wh.. What?. . ."

Oh no.
