Lost Powers
Ch-31
Wong sighed as he sat on his throne while Jin was reading the letter received from Austin, others reading along. "I can't believe this" Wong spoke in disbelief, "we were so close" he sighed again. Jin kept the letter, "father I think you shouldn't jump onto conclusions.. maybe this letter wasn't sent by the king himself? just maybe someone else sent it"
"Don't be ridiculous!" Wong snapped, his voice echoing in the room. "Who would have the audacity to use the king's seal just to play a joke?" He ran a hand over his temples, frustration creeping in. They flinched then Yoongi spoke, "father why don't you consider Jin hyung's words? We really shouldn't jump onto conclusions right now" Wong shot a sharp glance at Yoongi, irritation evident in his eyes. "What? You too? Are you both questioning my judgment now?" He leaned back in his throne, his gaze flickering between Yoongi and Jin.
"We don't mean that father but seeing your so far relationship, do you really think he will do that to you?" Jin said, concern evident in his voice. Wong huffed, his expression still stern. "You're too soft. You've always been like that, both of you." He paused, his gaze focusing on the letter in Jin's hands. "But you have a point. It seems unusual for Austin to go back on his word like this."
"I heard something" Jungkook said in a low tone, "while you both were fighting, I felt something fishy about his words" All eyes turned to Jungkook, a mix of curiosity and surprise on their faces. "What do you mean, dear?" Wong asked, his irritation replaced with intrigue. Jungkook came in front, "while you were saying that he betrayed you, he was saying the same thing that you sent him a letter. Did you send him something?" Wong's eyes widened; an expression of surprise etched on his face. He had been so consumed by anger that he hadn't even considered the possibility. "No, I hadn't sent him anything," he replied, a hint of doubt creeping into his voice.
"See, I know anyone can't use king's seal but it's not necessary that he was the one who sent it." Jin said, Namjoon pointed out, "did anyone sent you both letters to divide you two?" Everyone looked at Namjoon and then widened their eyes. A tense silence fell over the room as the princes considered Namjoon's words. Was it possible that they had been played? That someone had sent them letters to create discord and tension? The thought was both alarming and intriguing.
While in the Euphoria kingdom, Austin was still thinking about everything. Austin looked up as Amelia and Luna entered the room. He sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Oh, it's you two," he said, trying to keep his frustration in check. Amelia was still upset about what Austin said while Luna was also not feeling so good after he rejected her and Jimin's relationship. Amelia crossed her arms, her eyes narrowing at Austin. "You know, I still can't believe you said all those hurtful things," she said, her voice edged with anger. Luna remained quiet, her eyes downcast. She was still hurt by Austin's rejection.
Austin sighed, "look I am already shaken by everything happened, can we talk later?" Amelia's disbelief only grew. "Talk later? Are you serious? You just said some awful things, and now you want to talk later?!" she exclaimed, her voice rising. Luna looked up at Austin, her expression a mixture of hurt and surprise. This wasn't like him at all. "And what about Wong? He was just using me all along, I couldn't let his children get closer to you. And Amelia when did you became so serious about all this? You hated his son anyways" Austin said, they both looked at him.
Austin's words had an impact on them. Amelia tried to hold back the hurt, but it seeped through in her voice. "You're right, I don't care about his son. But it's not about him. It's about how you discarded me like I don't matter." Her voice trembled slightly. Luna, who had been quiet till now, spoke up, "And what about my relationship with Jimin? You suddenly decided to end it like it was nothing." The room was filled with an uncomfortable silence. Austin avoided eye contact with his daughters, feeling the weight of his words and decisions. The pain and disappointment etched on Amelia and Luna's faces only made him feel worse.
"I know that you both feel like this is wrong, but I am sorry.. I was too angry that I snapped on you Amelia and about you Luna, so I don't want any of you in any relationship with the princes of Rosefall kingdom" Amelia and Luna exchanged glances, their expressions a mix of disappointment and sadness. "So, you just want us to give up on our happiness because you were angry? Is that what you're saying?", Amelia asked, her voice laced with frustration. Luna stayed quiet, unsure of how to respond. Her heart ached for Jimin, but she also understood her father's concerns.
"I know you both are upset but I made myself clear. Luna, you won't meet with Jimin nor Amelia meet with Jin" Amelia's jaw clenched, anger and hurt evident in her eyes. "You can't dictate who we meet and who we don't," she retorted, her voice firm. Luna's eyes welled up with tears, but she tried to hold them back. "But Father... what about my happiness?" she whispered, her voice trembling.
Austin didn't reply and stood up, "I am not repeating" Austin's words hung in the air as he left the room. Amelia and Luna stood there, feeling frustrated and hurt. The door closed behind him with a soft thud, leaving them alone in the silent room.
Luna went out to the lake to become her animagus, she missed Jimin, she thought he might come to the lake as always, but he wasn't there. As she became a swan, she desperately wanted to fly up and find Jimin. However, her injured wings, still mending, prevented her from doing so. She felt a pang of helplessness, coupled with the longing to see Jimin. The lake that they usually met at felt empty without him.
She heard footsteps, she turned around, thinking it's Jimin but it was actually Amelia. "Sorry, did I make your hopes high?" She softly said but couldn't understand Luna's swan language. Luna let out a sad honking sound, her heart sinking at the disappointment of thinking it was Jimin, but it being Amelia instead. She shook her head, the swan's equivalent of a negative response.
"You miss her?" Jin asked softly to Jimin who was standing in the balcony. He nodded slowly, "even though I can go now and meet her.. I am afraid I might make her fall in any trouble after what her father did..." Jin nodded in understanding, his expression a mix of empathy and concern. "I know you're in a difficult position, Jimin," he said, his voice gentle. "It's clear that you care about her, but you're also worried about the consequences of going against her father."
Jimin sighed, "I feel a pang of emptiness. I feel like my heart is aching about something. My wings keep on giving me some signals, but I can't seem to understand what's wrong" he looked at Jin, "hyung, I think something bad is going to happen" Jin's gaze fixed on Jimin as he spoke, his concern growing with each word. He had known Jimin for a long time, and he knew that his gut feelings often proved right.
"What kind of signals do you mean?" he asked, his voice serious. "I don't know.. I can't seem to understand.. Usually when my wings feel something is wrong, they take me to that place where that wrong thing is happening but now, they aren't guiding me anymore.. it feels like is someone blocking them or is there any other reason.. I am so confused"
Jin's concern deepened as Jimin described his wings' unusual behavior. He frowned, trying to make sense of what Jimin was saying. "Have you tried meditating to connect with your wings? Maybe you could find a clue that way," he suggested. "It happened with me before too. You remember that cursed village where that lake was cursed? That cursed energy was too strong, and my wings became like they were blocked, I couldn't fly anymore"
Jin nodded, recalling the incident in the cursed village. "Yes, I remember. The cursed energy affected your wings, making it impossible for you to fly." He paused for a moment, thinking. "But you think something similar is happening now? Someone or something is blocking your wings?"
"It feels the same way, but the cursed energy is different this time. That time it was hard to even breath but this time.... I feel like it's affecting our powers.. have you tried to see future recently or maybe try to use our metamorphosis?" Jin's expression turned serious as he pondered Jimin's words. "No, I haven't tried accessing my powers again. Let me try now."
He closed his eyes and focused, trying to tap into his future sight ability. Jimin watched Jin who opened his eyes with disappointment evident in his face. "Something is strange" Jimin said. "Yes, you're right," Jin replied, a look of frustration on his face. "It's like my future sight ability is being blocked. I can't make any sense of my visions." His voice was quiet, laced with worry.
"What if it's happening with others as well?" Jimin asked with concern. Jin's expression turned even more worried as he considered Jimin's question. "You might be right. We need to check with the others if they're facing the same situation." They went out to others room. Jimin went to Jungkook's room. Jimin knocked on Jungkook's door before entering. He found the younger prince sitting on his bed, looking lost in thought. "Hey, Jungkook," Jimin said, his voice filled with concern. "Can I talk to you for a moment?"
Jungkook turned to Jimin and nodded slowly, "what is it, hyung?" Jimin took a seat beside Jungkook, his expression serious. "I need to ask you something, and it might sound strange," he began. "Have you tried using your powers lately?" Jungkook looked at Jimin, "hyung.. you know I am not allowed to use my powers"
Jimin nodded, understanding the limitations that Jungkook's powers faced. "I know that Jungkook," he said gently. "But I need you to trust me for a moment. Can you try to see if anything feels different? Even the slightest change, or if something doesn't work like it usually does?" Jungkook nodded and extended his hand to make a water tornado only to fail. He wasn't even able to sprinkle.
Jimin observed as Jungkook attempted to create a water tornado but failed. The look of disappointment and bewilderment on Jungkook's face confirmed his suspicions. "It's not working, is it?" Jimin asked, even though he already knew the answer. Jungkook nodded, "maybe it's because I haven't been using them?" Jimin shook his head. "No, it's not just that. I've checked with Jin-hyung, and he can't use his future sight either. Something is happening, and it feels like our powers are being affected."
Jungkook widened his eyes, "Taehyungie" he whispered and went to Taehyung's room. Jimin followed Jungkook to Taehyung's room, where they found Jin trying to comfort a despondent Taehyung. Seeing the despair on Taehyung's face tugged at their hearts. "Taehyung," Jimin said softly as they approached him. "We need to tell you something."
"Jiminie I told you; I am really different" Taehyung muttered, tears forming in his eyes. Jimin's heart ached at the sight of Taehyung's distress. He sat down beside him and placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "Taehyung, listen to me," Jimin said gently. "It's not about being different. Something strange is happening to us. Jin hyung can't use his future sight, and Jungkook can't control water either. You're not the only one affected."
Taehyung shook his head, "I never was able to use my powers. And now it's proved" Jimin's expression softened, understanding the pain Taehyung was feeling. "Taehyung, not everyone manifests their powers at the same time. It doesn't mean you never will," he said, trying to reassure him. "And even if you don't, it doesn't make you less valuable or important. You're our Taehyung, powers or no powers."
Jin and Jungkook joined in, trying their best to comfort Taehyung. "You're not ordinary, Tae hyung," Jungkook said, his voice filled with conviction. "You've always been special to us." Jin nodded in agreement. "Your presence and your personality make you unique. Our abilities don't define who we are. You're more than that."
Namjoon entered the room, "what's going on? I can't seem to read minds anymore" Jimin, Jin, and Jungkook turned to Namjoon in surprise. "You too?" Jimin asked, his voice filled with concern. Namjoon nodded, a look of surprise and confusion on his face. "Yes, I can't read minds anymore. It's like my ability has vanished."
"Can you see ghosts?" Jungkook asked and Namjoon looked troubled by what was happening. "No, I can't see ghosts either. This is unprecedented." They fell into a heavy silence, the realization that all their powers were being affected sinking in. "What about Yoongi and Hoseok? Where are they?" Jin asked. As they looked around, they realized that Yoongi and Hoseok were conspicuously absent. Jimin spoke up, a concerned expression on his face. "You're right, they're not here. Where could they be?"
"I think I know" Jungkook said. They found Hoseok sitting alone by the waterfall, his gaze fixed on the falling water. A sadness tugged at their hearts as they realized he was eagerly waiting for Annalise. Jimin approached him and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Hoseok hyung," he said quietly. "Are you alright?" Hoseok looked up and smiled, "hey bros! What are you all doing here?" Jimin took a seat next to Hoseok, looking concerned. "We need to talk to you about something," he said, his expression serious. "It's important." Hoseok noticed his seriousness and then looked at others, "what's going on?"
Jimin glanced at the others before turning back to Hoseok. "We've discovered something strange," he began, his voice low. "Our powers seem to be affected or, rather, blocked in some way. Jin can't use future sight, Jungkook can't control water, Taehyung feels powerless, Namjoon can't read minds, and my wings are behaving strangely." Hoseok widened his eyes, "what!!"
Jimin's gaze was steady, conveying the gravity of the situation. "It's true," he said. "We've all lost our abilities to some extent, and it's got us worried. We're trying to understand why this is happening and if there's something we can do." Hoseok stared at his hands, trying to summon a fireball like he had done countless times before. However, as he focused his energy, nothing happened. No spark, no flame, just empty air.
Back at the castle, Yoongi stood before them, a look of disappointment etched on his face. "I was helping some villagers with a troll," he began, his voice tinged with frustration. "But when I tried to cast my spells, they just didn't work. It's like my magic has vanished into thin air." The others exchanged worried glances as they listened to Yoongi's report. It seemed as if the mysterious force affecting their powers had struck again. The sense of unease and uncertainty filled the atmosphere.
