Opinions on fight scenes
Now, fight scenes are big in anime, huge even.
What makes a fight scene great to me, is the meaning and stakes behind it all. Like a battle of contrasting ideals, revenge, to protect or to win, not one that's just a clash of fists.
Some of my favourite fights are:
Tanjiro vs Rui (Demon Slayer) this fight is basically the ideals of family. Tanjiro's being of love, whereas Rui's is through fear and torture.
Deku vs Todoroki (My Hero Academia) the two are perfect foils for each other and this fight had the chance for the two characters to change. this fight is more of an endurance match, with Deku constantly breaking his fingers and breaking them even further, and Todoroki constantly using his ice, causing him to suffer from frostbite. The best thing is that Deku is trying to save Todoroki from his past and have him fight at his full power so Deku can prove his worthiness of being All Might's successor.
Deku vs Stain (My Hero Academia) another battle of ideals, however the two are almost similar with the idealism of being a hero, but the two do have their differences, Stain wants to purge the glory hungry heroes, who he deems as 'fakes' in order reform society as it ruins the ideals of All Might.
Now, of course I'm sure some of you are curious about my opinion on Dragon Ball fights as they're the biggest in anime. To be brutally honest, nowadays most of them are a clash of fists with a character with random superpowers against another character with random superpowers, this making it feel rather stale and empty to me, as they're just beam clashes and a volley of fists colliding with each other.
That's really all I can say for fight scenes, what's your favourite fight scenes? What makes a good fight to you?
