Now there's a huge divide when it comes to Fairy Tail.

I genuinely like the series, but that doesn't mean I don't have issues on it. This will cover a lot of spoilers so be warned.

A complaint a hear a lot about Fairy Tail is its female characters, mainly Lucy being just pure fan service and useless. Honestly, I don't mind fan service just as long as it isn't constantly happening, and if the characters are actually doing something other than fan service like Erza as she is the strongest woman and one of the best looking characters. And Lucy is actually useful with Celestial Keys and Celestial Dresses, I love that in the Edolas arc that she was shown to be capable on her own with just a whip she had been giving by one of her Celestial spirits.

The biggest complaint is of course the whole power of friendship, but a lot of anime does this just in different ways. The big thing about Fairy Tail is that the guild members see each other as family, and the series shows just how far the members are willing to go to save/protect/or fight for their family regardless of blood or not.

The series actually has a surprisingly large number of deaths, that takes large impacts on characters, for example the death of Frosch, the exceed of the Shadow Dragon Slayer, Rogue caused the whole dragon attack at the end of the Grand Magic Games arc. (Though despite not happening as Natsu prevented the death of Frosch)

On the topic of deaths in the series, I do wish Makarov stayed dead as he was pretty damn old and just before his 'death' he made Erza the new Guild Master, he is a cool and great character, being also a great father figure to the member, but I would've preferred if he died at the end instead of being a fake out death.

And well, that's really about all I gotta say about Fairy Tail. I think it's a good action anime that does have its fair share of flaws.
