Chapter Twenty- One: Half The Truth

A/n: Hope you like this new chapter!

Kousei slept all through that morning because of his sickness. He had been in constant pain and his body was too heavy for him. He couldn't eat solid food that day, too. The nurses always come and go to his room to give him medicines every four hours. They also make sure that he eat some soup, at least. It was that day as well when Empress Adrianna visited him in his room. Tsubaki and Watari had no chance to inform him that they know about the truth that day even if the emperor had allowed them to inform him about the reason his brother took his own life.

Three days later, Mark Margoth had informed them that the Prince is looking for them and they want to see them in his Royal Chamber at the Silver Throne Room.

At the time they reached his room, they were happy to know that he is slowly recovering even if he still does feel cold and cough at the same time. His fever had lowered down and he felt fine for a bit but the Royal Physicians still advise him to remain on his bed. He can't get out and work strenuously again. They gave their respects to him by bowing and curtsies.

"It's good to see you again," he said while he cough.

"Why have you asked us to meet you here, Your Highness?" she asked him.

Kousei took a deep breath. His father visited him two days ago after he passed out because of so much fatigue. He caught flu due to it that he pushed his body to the limit. He remembered that his father allowed his friends to finally let him know the truth behind his brother's suicide. "You know the truth about my brother's death and why he commited suicide. Can you now tell me?"

Tsubaki was about to answer him when Lady Kaori Miyazono rushed inside and held her hand to stop her from talking.

"Tsubaki, let me tell him the truth! I have to make sure that he won't do something strange when he learns the truth," Kaori told her.

"Kaori, it was us that the Emperor asked to inform him about the truth," Watari Ryota said to her.

"You told me about the truth long ago in a letter. If you were allowed to inform him the truth, that's my cue to come in. I have to do my responsibility as his lover," she said to them. "I know him better than you, now."

Kousei sat on his bed and coughed painfully. He was annoyed that they are fighting who should tell the truth to him. "This concerns my brother! Can't you just tell me why he took his life?"

"Do not think of revenge when I tell you," cried Kaori. She's afraid that he might do something so careless after learning the truth. She looked back at him and tightened her grip on his hands. "It's not their fault why your brother took his life."

Kousei felt nervous but he vowed to her that he would choose to obey her. If he disobey her, it might destroy their relationship. "Yes. I vow to you that I would not think of any kind of useless revenge."

Kaori took a deep breath. "Kousei, Crown Prince Leonardo was in Japan six years ago to visit you but while he was there, he discovered that Lady Veronica continued her affair. She was still flirting with Prince Felipe of Spain."

"We discovered that they kept their relationship a secret but that secret was uncovered by your brother. They married weeks after the late Crown Prince Leonardo's burial," Watari Ryota added.

"Everyone believes though that their fling isn't connected to the suicide of your brother," Tsubaki told him.

Prince Kousei closed his eyes. He couldn't believe that his brother took his life just because of a pathetic woman and a frivolous reason. Even so, when he remembered that they mentioned Prince Felipe, he suspected that they had only uncovered the tip of the iceberg. He also does not suspect Lady Veronica. To him, she would not be able to hurt his brother but he does suspect that his brother's connected to the Spanish Prince, Prince Felipe. Prince Felipe is a treacherous man and someone who also seeks the throne of the Spanish King.

"Thank you for telling me," he told them. "Do not investigate further or you might run on something political. Unfolding and unravelling the truth behind it isn't done yet. You only knew half the truth. Everyone only discovered half of the truth. It isn't associated with Lady Veronica's marriage to Prince Felipe. I'm sure my brother won't kill himself because of her."

Kaori watched him cough. She had asked him to lie down his bed and rest once again. After that, it was her who dismissed them so thay he could finally rest. While he lay down his bed, she asked him, "You believe it's not because of Lady Veronica, Kousei?"

"That is a pathetic excuse to take your life. I am sure my brother had some deeper reason he took his life. I am afraid of what I might discover. I don't even know if I should pursue learning the truth. I might run into a dark secret that only Prince Felipe and my brother know about," he answered her.

"Go to sleep. If you want to uncover the truth, you have to recover. You have to be strong again to finally break the mystery of his death," Kaori said to him.

"Thank you," he said to her while he wrap her by his arms. "I love you, Kaori."
