Chapter Six: Go The Distance
A/n: I hope you like this chapter! Thank you so much!
Also, I'm going to call Kousei's friends as the Wonder Trio. Hope you like my nickname for them when they're together in one group.
Well then, on to the story! :)
Tsubaki and Watari Ryota were both surprised to see Miyazono Kaori waiting inside the Embassy of the Empire of Atlantis in Japan. The pure white embassy looked like a Greek Temple with lots of huge pillars. They are all required to wear formal clothes to meet the ambassador of Atlantis.
"You're here, too?" Tsubaki asked Kaori.
"I don't know. There was a letter sent to me that I have to go here," Kaori answered her. "We were asked to go and meet the ambassador today, three days after Kousei left to go back to his home country."
"We're at the Embassy of the Empire of Atlantis. If we are all summoned here, does this mean this is about our association with Kousei as his friends?" Watari Ryota spoke up.
"Maybe. What are we all doing here if not because of him, right?" Tsubaki spoke up. They all laughed cheerfully as they walk in front of the embassy.
...
They all began to get inside the embassy together minutes after they are complete already. They are met by the Atlantian Ambassador, Eugene Matthews in his office. He smiled at them and gestured them to sit at a white couch. After they all sat down, Kaori asked him, "Why are we all summoned here, sir?"
Eugene Matthews sat down at the couch and faced the friends of Prince Kousei to tell them a vital information.
"Prince Kousei's father, Emperor Richard III had ordered me to take you in the empire and join the young prince in his mourning. He would want you to come in the Royal Phoenix Palace and visit him tomorrow where you can stay until after the prince is crowned as the new Crown Prince. I hope you accept the offer of the emperor," he said to them. "He knows that the prince needed people who could help him carry the pain. He had lost his older brother."
Kaori smiled and said to him, "I'm willing to go. It's a responsibility of his girl to go to him when he needs me, right?"
He was happy when he heard Kaori accept the offer and so, he waited for the answer of Watari Ryota and Tsubaki. "We're going, sir. We want to know how he is."
He closed his eyes and upon the time he blinked them open, he thanked them. "The emperor will be glad. Thank you for accepting."
"Sir, can you tell me how close Kousei is to his brother?" Tsubaki asked him.
"I don't know that much about their personal closeness but as I have heard, the people of Atlantis knows that both of them are very important individuals as they're the lead heirs to the throne since they are the direct descendants of Emperor Richard III. Ever since Kousei was born, for nine years in his stay in the palace before his mother chose to go home, the late Crown Prince had taken care of him and showed his love towards him," he informed them. "Prince Kousei had looked up at him and he admired his brother so much."
After that, a female woman wearing black, entered his office. She faced Kousei's friends as well and asked Eugene, "What are you all talking about?"
"They just asked about the prince's past," he answered her.
"I heard so," she spoke up. Her blue eyes stared at the curious eyes of the three young adults in front of her. "I'm close to Crown Prince Leonardo and Prince Kousei, his younger brother. I'm Lady Jessica Olives."
"Do you know anything more about the late Crown Prince and Prince Kousei? We want to understand our friend and what he's going through right now," Watari Ryota asked her. He could see how fair and bright the female Atlantian is. She's wearing pearl necklaces and a very bright dress.
"Crown Prince Leonardo loved the younger prince very much. He taught him the piano alongside his mother in Atlantis and had always been at Prince Kousei's back in his whole childhood. What Prince Kousei knows now, as a prince, was all because of his brother," he said to them. "His love for his brother brought a bit of jealousy from their sisters but still, they all loved the youngest member of the Phoenix Dynasty. Their lives were all at peace until the youngest prince's mother got sick badly. Prince Kousei had to be here in Japan alongside his mother. A young prince cannot stay without his mother but now that she had passed away, he's totally Emperor Richard III's responsibility."
Kousei's friends all gazed at each other's eyes after they have heard about Kousei's past.
"I hope he's fine, Your Highness," Kaori spoke up with a tone of anxiety.
...
Two days after the Wonder Trio were told that they're going to go in the Empire of Atlantis for the sake of Prince Nathan 'Kousei' Arima, they have arrived in front of the Golden Royal Palace where the Phoenix Royal Family reside.
Princes take up the surname of their mothers while princesses officially don't have surnames since when they get married, they get the male's surname instead.
Upon the time the Wonder Trio got out of the limousine, they were at awe when they saw the huge and wide palace where Kousei was born and is currently living in. They were able to see glimpses of huge statues, pillars and hieroglyphics adorned all over the palace.
From the distance where they are, Watari Ryota was able to spot Kousei who's being followed by some women wearing grey servant dresses. He's still wearing black. He entered a huge room and disappeared after that with the Royal Servants leaving one by one after Kousei's inside the silver room.
They were welcomed by Princess Brianna, Kousei's eldest sister. She's a beautiful, nineteen-years-old young adult. She's currently wearing a traditional Greek Dress. Edward Thomas was also with them at the time they took Kousei's friends from the airport. Most of all, they went at the back of the Royal Palace where cars are allowed to park rather than at the front where the Emperor's Throne is located. Edward took a bow to her and stood up after that.
"Welcome to the Phoenix Royal Palace, Prince Kousei's commoner friends. Before you get in, remember not to touch anything. Everything inside is a UNESCO World Heritage," she said to them. "Also, even you are foreigners and had not been curtsying around my younger brother for six years, now that he's back here, as a male descendant of the Phoenix Dynasty, you have to curtsy even you are his friends."
They all understood and so, they began to follow her around the palace until they stopped in front of a huge silver pair of double doors engraved with a huge silver star.
"Your Highness, Prince Kousei Arima, are we allowed to enter the dominion of the late Crown Prince?" she asked Kousei who could very well hear her from the inside while he's standing in front of the glass casket of his brother. Ever since he got back in Atlantis, he had always locked himself up inside the Crown Prince's Silver Throne Room. His tears would only stop at one time and the supposed scheduled burial was extended a week more after Kousei got back home.
"Princess Brianna, I want to be alone," he answered her. They could all hear him crying inside the silver throne room.
"Your friends from Japan are here," she explained to him. "The emperor... Our father knew how depressed you are right now. He chose to get your friends to be with you while you are at your darkest. You have to know that you aren't just the one who's hurt after our eldest passed away. Jasmine and I... We are also hurt that he's gone despite that we aren't close and the two of you are like twins when we were all small children."
He walked and opened the heavy double doors alone. Upon the time the silver doors opened, Kaori immediately took him into her embrace.
Kousei began crying on her shoulders. He hugged her back and after a while, his sister took him into her embrace, too.
"I can't believe he's dead. I wasn't able to be with him and I had been away for years!" he cried.
