Chapter Seventeen: The Punishment
A/n: So, how are all of you? I hope you like this chapter! Thank you!
Being the Crown Prince had its ups and down. That's what Crown Prince Nathan 'Kousei' Arima realized ever since he began his life back in the Empire of Atlantis. His life in Japan was just a memory already.
He still does hope that his brother's around and he still could live the life he really wanted but ever since his death, he had no choice but to adapt to his new life. He never dreamed that the time his friends would know the truth about who he is will also be the time he had lost the person closest to him. His brother had always visited him in Japan without any of the Japanese Media knowing about it since his location is confidential and a secret but he did know that secrets never stay secret. He sat down at the right side of the long, silver table and after that, Queen Adrianna and his sisters arrived. They all sat at the left side of the table until the Head of the House arrived.
At the time Emperor Richard III arrived at the Royal Dining Hall, all of the members of the Immediate Family stood up. "I'm glad to see all of you are present this night. It had been a long time I haven't eaten with all of you in the same time I do eat."
"Forgive me, father. I had been very busy this past few days," Kousei spoke up. "School and Royal Duties take up most of my time."
Emperor Richard III chuckled while their food is being served to them. "You must not worry, my dear son! Your duties are very important. I definitely want to applaud you that you are able to make Lord Kristoffer Devmont to return here at the Royal Castle and at the Palace Grounds."
Crown Prince Nathan 'Kousei' took a sandwich and a beef stew. He looked so pleased that his father became happy for his accomplishments.
"Ten months from now, Prince Kousei, you will begin your political duties while your sister, Jasmine, will marry Lord Smithson," his father said to him.
He looked at his sister who seemed happy that their father agreed with the marriage. He closed his eyes and held on his spoon tight. His father had already allowed his sister to marry someone he doesn't approve of but he isn't the Emperor, yet. He isn't allowed to disagree with their father's decisions.
"When will she marry Lord Smithson, father?" he asked him. His voice was threatening not to crack and make it obvious that he was shocked and hurt but as his father, he knew his son so well.
Richard III took his silver spoon down. "I know you don't approve of the Smithsons since they have a history of rebellion but that was hundreds of years ago. They're loyal to us, now."
Kousei stared at his sister and at the same time, Jasmine was shocked by what he said to her. "I apologize to you. I reckon I was just too surprised. I still need you in my first year as a Political Figure and I won't know what to do at the time I start attending Senate Courts."
Since Kousei apologized to him, Jasmine asked their parents, "Even after I marry, will I still be able to help my brother?"
"You would have to only guide him but not take up his roles at that time already," Empress Adrianna told her daughter. "He had to learn on his own when he begins his roles. You must all remember how your brother began his life when he became eighteen. He needed to keep studying law and he talked to a lot of politicians. He did not abuse his power, too."
Princess Brianna stared at Kousei. "I heard Lord Robert Edwards and Frank Damian Edwards are in front of the Silver Throne Building, begging for your forgiveness."
Kousei finished his meal and answered her, "They sinned against me. They're just begging on air. Frank would have to be punished for harassing my woman and disrespecting me at school."
Jasmine and Brianna stared back at their father while they all watch him stand up and lower his head to the Emperor before he left immediately. Moments after everyone are done, their children had all disappeared from the Dining Hall. Only the king and queen were left inside.
"Kousei is becoming a virtuous and daring man while he mature here at the palace. He is losing his innocence slowly, though," Empress Adrianna began. "What I do worry though was that, he's fearless and formidable. He could easily intimidate many of the people around him."
"Isn't that something important that he really should have had? An emperor should be strong and powerful," he told her while he stand up. "As Crown Prince, he has half of my power. He really should exude a strong aura so that no one would dare make fun of him and underestimate him."
"Those attitudes could give him enemies, Richie," she said to him. "I don't want him to be in any trouble at all."
"Adrianna, you should have learned from what had happened to Leonardo. We cannot avoid that our children will have enemies on their own. We should be guiding them, not hide them," he said to her. "I don't want to lose another Crown Prince."
Adrianna understood immediately. "I really hope he'll be fine."
"He will be. Kristoffer would soon join him," he assured her. He's happy that his wife treated Kousei as her own despite that she isn't the one that gave birth to him.
He is also happy that Kousei loves her as his mother, too.
...
The next day, Kousei returned to the Silver Throne Building. He didn't sleep at the Silver Throne Building that night due to the strong storm that enveloped them. He's wearing his silver royal clothes with gold embroidery when he came back to work on his responsibilities as Crown Prince. He was surprised when he saw Robert and Frank Damian Edwards still kneeling at the wet, grassy fields outside the building.
It annoyed him so much that two strangers are still outside the building where he mostly stays home already.
Igor Forester, Eugene Adams and Mark Margoth had arrived at the time before Kousei thought of going near the father and son who were soaked with rain. He stood in front of them with his staff behind them.
Frank and Robert knelt more at the same time. Their heads touch the wet soil.
"Your Highness! Please forgive us! We won't rebel against you anymore! Forgive me for the time I thought of using you to become a political prisoner!" cried Robert Edwards.
"Please forgive me! I was wrong! I won't touch Kaori Miyazono anymore!" cried Frank.
Kousei just watched them beg for mercy. He still couldn't believe that Frank would definitely lower himself up to him. He remembered how prideful he was at school as if he's too drunk that he didn't even think that he could receive punishment for disrespecting the right hand of the Emperor. It made him angry with him more but he had already pitied his father. Robert Edwards was already punished enough for the crime he had many years ago.
"Igor, inform Chief Daniel Peterson to come here," he ordered him. "Tell him to take Frank in the dungeon and lock him up while his father had to leave and be at the Royal Clinic to have a check up by our Royal Doctors. Lord Robert Edwards is now forgiven. Get them far away from my garden."
He walked away immediately that Saturday morning from them and entered the Silver Throne Building.
Frank Damian held on the grass and cried out, "Your Highness! I am wrong! Please forgive me! I wasn't thinking when I harassed your woman and disrespected you!"
Igor Forester sighed. "You won't get his forgiveness that way. You angered a powerful boy."
"Why was it just me that he forgave? What should my son do more for him to be forgiven?" Lord Robert Edwards asked Igor Forester after he texted Chief Peterson.
"You don't know the prince. He may look kind and angelic but he's a snake in disguise. He's a Royal with power," Mark Margoth said to them.
He stood up from where he was seated and cleaned his face with a white handkerchief. He's grateful that he was already forgiven by the Crown Prince. After that, he looked at his son. "You should have thought twice before staining your hands. Because of you, I needed to kneel here for hours and be punished like you!"
"Dad!" cried Frank.
"I'll wait at the Hospital Wing, Frank! I'll see you later at the dungeons!" his father told him.
