For the past fourteen years, Kousei stared at the altar of his mother. He still does feel really sad that his mother passed away when he was eleven years old. What makes him steady and grateful was that at least, even if there is something he's hiding from his friends, he's still fine. The government is hiding his true identity that he is an Atlantian Prince so he could live like a commoner. His brother, Crown Prince Leonardo wrote letters and talked to him via phone when Seto Hiroko, the chosen ward for him while his real identity as an Atlantian Prince was hidden, visits him and gives him the phone.

Seto Hiroko's glad enough that Kousei, even he's staying away from the piano, still clings on it.

Soon enough, when Tsubaki asked him to be with her when a friend of her asked her to let her meet Watari Ryota, everything changed. His life had color once again. He was so grateful that she met Miyazono Kaori, a violinist at that time and her charm flourished deep inside her heart. It was also Miyazono Kaori who forced him back on stage even if he could remember how infamous he became because of his perfect technical skills as a pianist. He had also remembered his Crown Prince brother pushed him to go back to it even if he's miles away. He's also a pianist, too. When he was five years old, his brother taught him many instruments but it was the piano he loved the most. He was thankful to both his brother and Kaori since they helped him move on and take up the piano once again. He was able to compete with other prodigies and returned back as one.

Even so, he had a lot of challenges too when Kaori got seriously sick. Kaori did have times that she almost slipped away from life but still, he didn't leave her. He prayed to God a lot and begged not to take the woman he loved while he's playing the piano. He wanted to confess to her and say to her how in-love he is to her. God answered his prayers later on and upon the time one of his important piano competitions finished, he learned from Seto Hiroko, his ward and piano mentor that Miyazono Kaori survived and will soon be cured from her cancer.

He dashed in the hospital where she is that night. It was also at that time when he confessed to her after he was allowed to get in. "Miyazono Kaori! Maybe I am only Friend A... I... I like you, Kaori! I hope you do feel the same way to me!"

Kaori giggled and stood from her hospital bed and hugged him. "I spoke a lie in April. That lie brought me to you. I was already admiring you ever since I saw you play your piano when you were only nine years old," she said to him. "Now, I just don't admire you. I love you, Kousei."

Kousei held her hand and hugged her, too. He does hope that even if she might learn the truth about who he is in the future, Kaori would willingly accept it.

He's the happiest boy at that time. He had the girl of his dreams.

Months later, the Empire of Atlantis was thunderstruck about the news that Crown Prince Leonardo had an accident. He was rushed in the hospital but he wasn't able to reach it alive. He died inside the ambulance.
Edward Andrews, a Butler in the palace faced the emperor of Atlantis, Emperor Richard III. He took his bow and delivered his news. "Your Majesty, your son, Crown Prince Leonardo... He just passed away. Rescuers found his car crashed on a river in Athena City where he visited his girlfriend. He wasn't able to get out of the car and drowned."

The emperor definitely was surprised by the devastating news. "Did the police found any foul play?"

Edward shook his head. "No sir. We don't know what happened but his bodyguards say that his car disappeared from the convoy. They looked everywhere until they found him and his car in the water."

"This will hurt my son who's living away from here," he spoke up. "Take Kousei home, Edward. It is time for him to go back to where he belongs. He has to face the truth that he had become the new crown prince."
