Chapter Nineteen: Lord Smithson
A/n: So, how are all of you? Hopefully you like this book! Thank you!
Miyazono Kaori brought Tsubaki and Watari Ryota at the Silver Throne Building. When they got there, they were definitely still flabbergasted how huge and enormous it is. They are still amazed that their friend lives there ever since he went home in the Empire of Atlantis. The biggest room is obviously the Silver Throne Room which is immediately seen in front of the garden because of its silver pair of doors with wings engraved on it. She took a deep breath and lead her friends at the east of the building.
Tsubaki could observe that the building had a lot of violet and silver banners with the Crown Prince's Silver Coat of Arms. The Coat of Arms of the Crown Prince is a silver Phoenix and encircled with one star on each side. She can also observe that there are a lot of servants cleaning. There are significant people walking around the palace and most of them talk about politics and about the Crown Prince's many achievements through the years.
There are a lot of paintings and statues around the East Wing of the Building. A few minutes later, Kaori stopped walking when Princess Brianna saw them after she got down the grand foyer. Miyazono Kaoru lowered herself and curtsied. Watari and Tsubaki did the same thing to her.
"Oh! Lady Kaori! It's good to see you!" Princess Brianna spoke up.
"What is it, Your Royal Highness? We're about to go in the Royal Visitors' Room upstairs," Kaori answered her.
Princess Brianna grinned in happiness. "It's really good we met here. Kousei wanted you to wait in the Royal Piano Room. I saw him earlier. He went to me immediately and I really can say, he's a bit worried you saw him in a place you don't need to be in," she said to him. "He hopes he can lighten your mood."
Tsubaki and Watari grinned in happiness while Miyazono Kaori's cheeks went red like strawberries.
Princess Brianna left them after Miyazono Kaori thanked her.
"I told you, Kaori. Kousei will always be Kousei. Well, we both don't know where the Piano Room is and it seems you know it," Tsubaki said to her.
"Yeah. I think we should go now," smiled Kaori.
Tsubaki and Watari followed her walk at the grand foyer which is draped with a violet carpet. Upon the time they reached the second floor of the Silver Throne Building, they all could feel the aura of power and weight of the crown. They were also very amazed that the second floor has a mix of the old and new. The second floor contains the offices of the Crown Prince's Royal Advisers, the Office of the Crown Prince's Personal Butler and The Office of the Crown Prince's Secretary.
It's also where the Royal Visitors' Room and Royal Piano Room is located. The two private rooms of the Crown Prince are at the east side and a bit isolated from the many offices. The walls of most of the offices inside the second floor are made with glass while the two private rooms were made of stone and are filled with hieroglyphics. They could also observe that all of the rooms have air conditioners and filled with lots of computers, phones, documents and people around. Even if there are a lot of offices inside, the room is just enough to accommodate all of the offices and is wide enough to carry lots of people.
"This is really surprising. I can't believe Kousei lives here," spoke Watari Ryota. "Does he really work here?"
Kaori grinned happily as she take them inside the Royal Piano Room. "He always stay in the piano room playing musical pieces to release his stress. He's mostly very tired and exhausted after a whole day. His staff always learn he's around when they hear the sound of the piano."
Eugene Adams smiled at Kaori.
"So, the Prince had asked you to wait inside, then?" he asked as he open the door of the Royal Piano Room.
"Uh... Yes," she smiled at him.
"He'll be back here after two hours," he said to them as she and her friends enter the Royal Piano Room. "He needed to be in a meeting with a fellow Crown Prince inside the Silver Royal Throne Room."
...
Kaori took a deep breath and sat at the black couch near Kousei's bookshelf which are filled with musical books and other important books. There's also a huge portrait of the Immediate Royal Family hanging near a window. A beautiful garden of lavender and white rose could be seen by the window. A gold curtain covers it up slightly. Watari Ryota and Tsubaki Sawabe were at awe when they saw Kousei's piano inside. It's deep black. A Silver Phoenix is carved into the music desk, too.
"He's always here to play piano when he's very tired?" asked Tsubaki as she stand near the piano's keyboard.
"Yes. He's here before he goes to sleep inside his chambers," Kaori said. "Even so, his servants had told me that there's only one thing that he never was able to eliminate from his attitude. They were sure he got it from his time in Japan."
"It's probably sleeping under the piano, isn't it?" asked Tsubaki.
Both girls laughed after that when they remembered what Kousei always do in Japan.
Watari Ryota sat beside Kaori. "I hope he's happy to see us."
...
Two hours later, Watari Ryota stood up from the couch and opened the window behind him. He had noticed that the sky is already darkening. "What does he always do on weekends, Kaori? Does he still work on days like this?"
Kaori was about to answer him when the door of the Royal Piano Room opened.
"I heard it, Watari Ryota. I can answer you," Prince Kousei said to him with a huge grin on his face.
They immediately gave their respects to him by curtsying. While they were giving their curtsy to him, they could hear him ordering Mark Margoth. "Inform my father that my Japanese friends are here. I would want them to stay here rather than find a hotel outside the Royal Residence."
"Yes, Your Highness!" Mark took his bow and left instantly.
A lady servant wearing a plain silver glossy dress closed the door for him after he entered the Royal Piano Room. He sat on the piano stool a few seconds later. Watari Ryota and Tsubaki Sawabe stared back at him again. Seeing him after two years that they didn't meet shocked them. Kousei's oozing with strong aura and authority. The Kousei they knew was the boy who's frail and depressed.
Kousei chuckled when he stared at his childhood friends who were both speechless after he's inside the Royal Piano Room.
"Forget how you feel right now in front of me. I know you felt it. Everyone does," he told them. "Both of you are my friends."
Tsubaki spoke first. "You're really a prince now. It's as if the boy we met was a dream. We're happy though that you still possess some attitudes you had when you were with us."
"Well, to answer Watari Ryota's question, every Saturday, I'm outside the Palace Walls and the Phoenix Walls to walk around and communicate with the commoners. It was just today that I don't have that much responsibilities since my sisters took them for me as I had business here in the Palace," he told them.
They remembered the boy he tortured inside the dungeon after he spoke about the business he's talking about.
"In the weekends, I still have responsibilities. After I was done with it, I am allowed to do anything I wanted like playing chess, practicing fencing and piano, reading books in the library and dating Kaori," he added.
Miyazono Kaori's cheeks became puffy when Kousei said that. "You didn't need to say that!" she spoke up.
Kousei took her in his lap and hugged her. Watari Ryota and Tsubaki Sawabe felt a bit uncomfortable by how he acts already. He grew bold and very showy of his love towards his lover ever since he returned home. Kousei and Kaori were flirting at each other and were about to kiss when Igor Forester knocked on the door. "Your Highness! Lord Hermes Smithson is here! Where should you meet him, Your Highness?"
Kousei's ear itched after he heard the name. "Is it Princess Jasmine's suitor?"
Kaori stood up at that time from his lap and knew immediately that she has to guide their friends out of the room so that her lover could talk to Igor Forester without any distraction.
Kousei stood up and let his secretary inside the Royal Piano Room. He stopped Kaori from guiding his friends out of the room.
"I have some other business. Tell him to come back tomorrow," he informed him. "Get him out of here!"
...
Igor had just got out of the room when they heard a commotion outside the Royal Piano Room.
Kousei went out of the room and closed the door. It was at that time that he found out that his bodyguards were stopping Lord Hermes Smithson from stepping inside the Silver Throne Building Level Two since he wasn't given permission to enter it.
"I have to talk to him! That Crown Prince brat! I have to talk to that boy for my future and for his sister's future!" screamed Lord Hermes.
Kousei's bodyguards kept on holding him to prevent him from going inside the second floor.
"Let him in," he spoke annoyingly. "Get inside my piano room. I'll talk to you. That's what you want right?"
His bodyguards took off their hands off him and after a while, he followed Kousei inside the Royal Piano Room.
"Kaori, Watari and Tsubaki," he began to speak after Lord Hermes Smithson enter the Piano Room, "Can you get them inside the Silver Royal Visitors' Room?"
Kaori took a bow to him and curtsied after Lord Smithson kneel before him. His friends were absolutely flabbergasted and shocked by how someone obviously older than him will kneel down in front of him.
Lord Smithson's blue eyes were staring at the red carpet that covered half of the entire Royal Piano Room.
"I'm kneeling before you, Your Highness. I know you have friends here. I want them to be witnesses of what I will do," he spoke to Kousei.
Kousei's friends stopped walking at that moment and they only watched him stand before Lord Hermes Smithson. "You know that I can't move freely around others I don't like to see how I treat men I have no absolute trust, isn't it?"
"I have heard that the reason why we can't marry yet was because you haven't given permission for me and your sister to marry! I came here to beg for your forgiveness for the sin of my ancestors! We won't retaliate anymore!" he said to him. "Please allow us to marry after your father reintroduce you when you become eighteen! Your Highness!"
Kousei could not move the way he wanted to act. His friends are around and he doesn't want them to be afraid of him.
"Who told you where I am?" he asked him.
"Princess Jasmine begged me to come to you," he informed him. "She informed me that you are here."
"How can I trust your loyalty?" he asked him. "How can I make sure that your family won't bring shame to our family?"
"I won't hurt your sister, Your Highness! We would always uphold the Royal Constitution and obey it! We swear to offer our lives to you and obey your orders!" he promised him.
Kousei closed his eyes. He knows that his friends might feel bad and culture-shocked by what he's about to do. It's traditional in the Royal Family that the one who really approves the marriage was the Crown Prince and not the Emperor. The Emperor can agree or disagree to influence the decision of the Crown Prince towards the engagement.
"Kiss my right hand and right feet," he ordered him.
He stared at his friends who were surprised by his decision.
Lord Hermes Smithson obeyed while he's kneeling before him. He took his right hand and kissed it. He took off Kousei's right shoe and black socks to kiss it, too. After he was done, his hands were on a fist.
Kousei felt glad that he knew how to really humble himself. "Lord Hermes Smithson, vow to me that you won't hurt my sister."
"I won't hurt her! I swear!" he answered him.
"Be happy with her. You can marry her," he answered him as he put back his shoes.
"Thank you, Your Highness!" Lord Smithson stood up in joy and took his bow to him before he left.
