Chapter Eleven: Goodbyes and Promises

A/n: So, Miyazono Kaori and Kousei's childhood friends are about to go back in Japan in this chapter. Hope you like this chapter! Thanks for the support I am getting from all of you!

Arima Kousei arose from his bed the next day. That day is very bittersweet for him since he would be seeing his friends go back home while he stay in the Empire of Atlantis. It would take long for him to go back in Japan. He's also grateful that his father accepted Miyazono Kaori as his girlfriend. After she talked with his father that night after he was given the silver crown and announced as the new and official crown prince of the empire, Kaori promised him that she would talk to her parents and convince them to live in the Atlantian Empire.

Edward Thomas moved the black curtains off the windows of his room and took a bow at him, "Rise up, Your Highness! Your Majesty is waiting for you to dine with him alongside your friends before they leave."

Kousei sat in his bed and took a deep breath. "Thanks for waking me up, Edward."

Edward grinned joyfully. "You look like your father now. I still remember the time he was just as old as you."

Kousei was surprised by what his butler uttered. "How long were you serving the dynasty?"

"I've been serving the dynasty where you belong since I was twenty-five years old, Your Highness. I've been serving the Phoenix Dynasty for thirty years, now," he answered Kousei. "You can say that your father respects me very much as well that he trusted me to take care of you."

"I hope you can keep on taking care of me, Edward," he told him. "Were you able to get married?"

"I was never able to be married. I chose to take care of the different generations of the Phoenix Dynasty," Edward answered him. "Well, your highness. Enough talking about me. You have to prepare already and get out to eat with your family and friends."

Kousei smiled happily and thanked him. Edward left his chambers immediately to give the newly crowned prince privacy. He took a bath for five minutes and after he was done, he opened his drawers. At the sight of the clothes inside it, he took a deep breath after he saw that most of his clothes consisted of violet, gold, silver, blue and black formal clothes. There are also a lot of uniforms just like the white uniform of the Atlantis Air Force and the blue uniform of the Atlantis Navy. He would also be wearing a black or green uniform for the Atlantis Ground Force. At that time, he knew that he wouldn't be required yet to wear too formal clothes and so, he chose a simple, blue long sleeves, white necktie and black slacks. He wore his eyeglasses and a gold watch after he was finished wearing his clothes. He went out of his room after he was done preparing. He was welcomed by his servants inside the Silver Throne Building. The Silver Throne Building is now his official residence ever since he had become the new crown prince of Atlantis. It was his personal butler who joined him who guided him to go at the Royal Dining Hall. Upon the time he was finally inside the Royal Dining Hall, he saw his father sitting in front of all other guests who were all waiting for him. He sat at the left side of his father. Like he expected, the food on the table were mostly vegetables, fruit and fish.

Since Emperor Richard III's with them, Kousei's friends and sisters did not need to show respect in front of him. "I'm glad that you know what to wear today."

"Father, you know that I have lived here for nine years and I just grew up in Japan for five years," Kousei replied back to him while they all sit on the gold table. "Even so, I believe that my palate had to get used to Atlantian Cuisine again."

"I'm sure you'll love eating salads, soups and fish again, Kousei. You ate enough noodles and meat in Japan. Now that you're back here, I'm sure you would love eating healthy again," chuckled his sister, Princess Brianna. "I do remember that you were eating carrots like a rabbit at our farm when we were kids. You were six years old at that time. You didn't even ask Edward to cut it or peel it."

Kousei's cheeks became red in embarrassment while his sister spoke that to them. "Can't we just eat? I'm hungry now," he said as he cheerfully hold Kaori's hand. He remembered doing that when he was a child and his stomach was grumbling after he had lessons from his tutors.

Kaori sat beside him and whispered, "I'm yours, Kousei. I hope mom and dad would agree with me that we live here in Atlantis."

His Japanese friends laughed a bit, too after they heard his sister speak like that to him. Tsubaki and Watari Ryota had a difficult time eating with them while the Atlantian Royal Family were eating their food silently. The Royal Family were all eating so elegantly and prim. Their utensils doesn't even make any sound at all and they had also noticed that they were eating soup slowly, too.

Tsubaki watched Kousei take a deep breath. He took three slices of carrots, lettuce, dory, and two slices of bread and placed it on his plate where he began organizing it into a dory sandwich. He put a dressing on top of all the vegetables and fish and cut it in half. When he was done, he began eating his sandwich. He looked satisfied with his breakfast and began loving the food that would always be his meal every breakfast again. Breakfast in the Royal Atlantian Family consists of salads, fresh fruits or sandwiches.

Tsubaki tried to copy it but Seto Hiroko, who's eating with them too, noticed that she's having a hard time creating her own dory sandwich, and so, she chose to help her make it.

"Thank you, Seto-san," she told her.

"That's fine," she told her. "I'm used making dory sandwiches anyway."

They finished the meal with a vanilla ice cream and drinking water while Emperor Richard III and Queen Adrianna ended their meal with black coffee.

...

Several minutes after breakfast in the palace, Kaori, Tsubaki, and Watari were taken to the airport. They took Kousei in their arms. They hugged him tight and said their goodbyes after they arrived in front of the airport. Kousei is with his sisters, his personal butler and three bodyguards.

"I'll miss all of you!" cried Kousei while they enter the airport.

Reporters, and photographers weren't allowed to ambush interview them. Bodyguards surround Kousei and all of the people that took his friends inside the airport terminal.

...

"Kousei, we're sure that you will be a good crown prince. Besides, you have your sisters who would teach you how to act as one, anyway, right?" Tsubaki said to him a few minutes later after they're comfortable inside the airport terminal that's filled with a lot of people.

"As the older sisters of the crown prince, it is our responsibility to support the crown prince while he's still a minor," Princess Jasmine informed Tsubaki.

Kousei felt calmed after he heard his sister spoke that up to his friend. He's still nervous about his new role. It's all thanks to his family that he knows that he won't go out of the track since his father hired intelligent and wise teachers to educate him in politics and the Atlantian Constitution. While Tsubaki, Kousei and Jasmine were chatting, Kaori was left behind sitting on the bench, drinking juice. She's with Princess Brianna who borrowed her time to talk to her.

"Kaori, are you sure you want to convince your parents back home to go here and be naturalized?" Princess Brianna asked her.

"Mom won't be naturalized, though. She's half-Atlantian. She still does hold an Atlantian Passport. I do believe, only Atlantians were allowed to have dual citizenship in Japan as of now," she answered her. "Dad and I had to be naturalized. Princess Brianna, as his girlfriend, I had to support him. He needs me."

The oldest sister of Kousei grinned happily at her. "May God bless you, Miyazono Kaori."

Kousei stood in front of them. At the same time, Miyazono Kaori ran and wrapped her arms around Kousei's arms. "I'll come back with my mom and dad, Kousei! I promise that to you!"

Kousei hugged her back. "I'm glad to hear that, Kaori."

It was difficult for Kousei to see his friends and girlfriend leave the Empire of Atlantis. With Kaori's vow, his heart is in peace. She promised him that she would come back with her family.

"You don't look that much broken anymore, brother," Princess Brianna said to him. "I'm delighted enough to see you smiling brightly."

"You know that I'm in a relationship," he explained to her while they walk out of the airport after they said their goodbyes to Kousei's Japanese friends. "I hope she comes back. I don't want our relationship to be broken only because of nationality."

"I'm sure she will come back, Kousei. For now, you have to focus on your studies and your new job here in the empire, okay?" Princess Jasmine said to him cheerfully.

Kousei nodded. "Of course. Thank you!"
