You Have An Anxiety Attack

A/N: This is just a random Imagine I've thought of to put together, I haven't had that creative urge to finish off my Camille one as of yet but it'll come soon. This Imagine I relate to, I wrote this to sort of in a way express what I face on a regular basis and show you how I deal with it. Prince's character in this for you will be himself...but in real situations for me he's a voice, sometimes music that plays through my head that calms me.

The scenario I'm using for this Imagine is based on a real life situation I've had.

*Your POV*

Today is a big day for you, your boss called a few minutes ago telling you to prepare for the higher up bosses from the head quarters coming in to make sure your restaurant is running up to standard. They will conduct tests, on the restaurant itself, your boss, the staff and you. You physically feel sick, all you want to do is call in sick and not go in but then your boss will automatically know the reason and you will get into trouble.

You stare at yourself in the mirror, practicing your breathing techniques your doctor taught you. You have anxiety that you control well but when it comes to these visits by higher up authority at work it really throws you off balance, you look at your chest that's starting to go red and blotchy that always does that when you get nervous and anxious. You grab a wet towel and squeeze it out until no more water is dripping, you dab the cool cloth over your heating chest while repeating calming words to yourself.

"You can do this. You've done this a thousand times, you've been in this company for six years you should be used to this by now. Don't over think this." You say calmingly while staring at yourself in the mirror.

You look up and see someone standing in the room with you. You see your fiancè staring back at you with a serious expression.

"What's going on?" Prince asks.

You look up at him then look back at yourself in the mirror.

"I have the DM and SM's coming in today...they're doing tests on the establishment." You sigh, tossing the wet towel in the sink.

Prince comes up behind you and wraps his arms around your waist, resting his chin on your shoulder. You look up at him in the mirror once more to meet his gaze, his eyes trail down to your reddened chest.

"Wow you're red. Are you really that nervous?" He asks.

You turn to face him.

"Yes I'm nervous. The last time they did tests I was at my old restaurant, which was one of the best in the state...now I'm at a new one that isn't doing so well at the moment. Something always goes wrong when they go their to do the tests, what if I do something wrong? I'll let the team down...I'll never forgive myself." You sigh and cover your face.

Prince reaches up and grabs your hands, pulling them away from your face. You look up at him, he kisses your cheek.

"Y/N...remember why your boss asked you to be at that new place?" He asks.

You didn't say anything, you just stood there and stared at him.

"Don't get quiet on me I want to hear you say it." He demands.

"He asked me because I was one of the best employees at his old restaurant..." You say.

"That's right, and who told him to ask you?" He asks, raising an eyebrow.

"The higher up bosses from head quarters..." You say looking down.

Prince places a finger under your chin, lifting your face to meet your gaze with his.

"Yes. The people you're afraid of are the ones who believe in you...the ones who think you have great potential. You are over thinking this. Just take a deep breath and treat this day like a normal shift...except maybe make sure everyone is staying on top of the criticals." He reassures you.

You take a deep breath and nod. He smiles and pulls you into his arms, you just melt into his arms.

"I believe in you, you will achieve that A for your restaurant I just know it." He says proudly.

"Thank you, baby." You smile.

"There's that smile. Now get going, don't want you to lose a mark for being late." He says.

You collect your things and get going. The whole drive to work you just think about all of the things Prince said over and over in your head as motivation. Once you get to work you tie your hair back, clock on and get to work. Your boss is running around like a headless chicken, not making you anxious at all...

You go to check the criticals, you were halfway through them when the DM and SM's arrive. You run out the back to the kitchen to make sure the chefs were changing the expiration stickers on the condiments containers and discarding expired products.

"Benny. What are you doing? I've asked you three times to change the stickers! Do you know how many points we lose if there's expired stickers on fresh condiment containers?" You ask frantically.

Benny just looks at you with a weird facial expression, he looks at the other staff.

"And you can't leave the bacon on the bench...it's meant to stay in the fridge. That's the wrong coloured tongs for that type of food also, we will get a whole grade down for cross contamination. Guys we really need to get it together if we wanna pass." You say sternly.

You see that no one was budging to move to do anything about these issues so you go to do it by yourself, you were only able to do one thing which was putting the bacon back in the fridge when the DM and SM came out the back.

"Y/N, it's nice to see you again. Aren't you meant to be out front?" DM asks.

You froze, you know there's another 3 criticals that could get mark downs but could easily turn into mark ups if staff actually bothered to do their job properly. But you weren't cooking today you were just serving customers, all you could do was smile and agree.

"Ahh yes. I was just giving feedback on an order." You nervously respond and make your way back out the front.

For the next two hours the DM and SM were watching your every move, if you thought you were doing something wrong...they wrote it down. They came up to ask you questions about sales targets and fire evacuation procedures, you froze during the fire evacuation procedure part but thankfully got that right. The nerves and anxiety were killing you, but they sat your boss down to give him the results and leave.

Your boss looks frustrated, you furrow your brows and walk over to him and sit across from him.

"What did they give us?" You ask, afraid of the response you're gonna get.

Your boss looks up at you then looks away.

"Jay...don't ignore me, what did they give us?" You repeat.

"They gave us 58%...we needed a 65% to pass. We failed." He sighs.

You slump back in the seat, you couldn't believe the score. You knew you all were having a shocker of a day and it was really busy but you didn't think it was that bad.

"Show me." You say.

Jay passes you the document of the results. The document outlines what went right and what went wrong, all you looked at was what went wrong. You looked at the expired stickers on the condiment containers and wrong coloured tongs causing cross contamination part which caused you to get angry.

"I knew it!" You gritted your teeth.

"What?" Jay asks.

"I told Benny to change those because I couldn't and he didn't! I went to go do them but they arrived while I was doing them." You yell.

Jay looks at you and sighs.

"Y/N, it's not your fault." He says.

"Yes it is. He wasn't going to do it, he early doesn't care but I do. I should have just kept going while they were here but I stopped, went out front. God I'm such an idiot." You say starting to hyperventilate.

"Woah woah, take it easy. It's okay. You did your best, most of us did." He tries to reassure you.

"Obviously it wasn't enough, now we failed because of me. Now we could get shut down." Tears fall from your eyes as you get up and go to the staff room, grabbing your bag and car keys.

"Y/N, where are you going?" Jay asks.

"I need some air." You say.

You get in your car and start driving, you couldn't believe the way the day turned out. Believing that everything would turn out good, it was a lie. Three simple things you should have done but didn't do cost the restaurant it's reputation and could possibly get shut down, all the pressure of it all was getting too much for you...you couldn't breathe.

You arrive home and get out, running inside. You walk in, hyperventilating. Your weakened knees buckle beneath you and you fall to the ground. Dropping your keys and your bag, it's dark but you didn't care. You literally couldn't breathe, thoughts were racing through your head...

"I'm such a failure, why haven't I been fired yet? I can't keep doing this...I hate feeling like this all the time...I just want it to stop..." You thought to yourself.

You jump when you feel a pair of hands on your shoulders, you look up and see Prince sitting beside you on the floor.

"Hey...hey, it's me. Y/N, what happened?" He asks.

You just look up at him and let it all out, you break down into tears as he pulls you into his embrace. The only thing that can be heard in the house is your sobs and Prince's 'Shh I'm here'.

After a good ten minutes of unleashing your sobs onto Prince you slowly pull away from him, you look up at him. He's looking at you, patiently waiting for you to explain what's bothering you.

"What happened?" He asks softly.

"We failed...or I should say...I failed them." You say softly.

"Y/N...you didn't fail them." He says, staring at you.

"I did." You say through tears.

"Tell me what happened." He says.

You explained what happened, from when you showed up to work from when you got the results and left. Prince sighs and takes your hands into his.

"It's not your fault, it shouldn't be anyone's really but if there's gotta be someone to blame it's gotta be the staff in the kitchen for not listening to you the first time about the criticals." He says.

"I shouldn't have said anything at all, I should have just changed everything myself and all of this could have been avoided." You say.

"You weren't out back today so technically that wasn't allowed. You did the right thing informing them, if they didn't do what you asked them to do after telling them three times that's on them, not you." He states.

You just stare in a space.

"Did your boss blame you?" He asks.

"No..." You sigh.

"Exactly, he said the fail had nothing to do with you." He says.

You furrow your brows and look up at him.

"How do you know that?" You ask.

"Jay called telling me you had run off, he got worried. And wanted me to tell you to stop beating yourself up about this and prepare for the retest." He says.

"Retest?" You ask.

"Yes." He nods.

Your eyes widen.

"Wait this can only mean one thing..." You gasp.

"Your restaurant isn't getting shut down. They saw how hard you all were working today and want to do a Retest during a non-busy period. A chance to redeem yourselves." Prince smiles.

You smile and gasp, Prince chuckles and wraps his arms around you.

The Next Day you went to work and had the retest. Your restaurant got 85% getting a B grade, you never felt so proud and happy. You and Prince went out to celebrate your success with dinner at one of your favourite spots. That day was the hardest day for you to deal with, but knowing there will always be someone there for you keeps your mind at ease.
