The Purple Pursuit - Part Two
*Your POV*
The Following Morning...
You got up and went back to your own apartment, you had meetings with clients today. You got dressed and ready for the day, today was meant to be big. You're finally going to get the opportunity to design for some of the big clients that you've been fighting for, your name is getting around being one of the best designers around.
You go to grab your bag and Prince's invitation drops out, you stare at it before picking it up. You sigh then shove it in your bag, at this point you don't care about his shenanigans, work is more important. On the way to work, Prince's music plays on the radio, you scoff.
"Nope." You say.
You just decide to turn off the radio, you arrived to work and walked up to your office. Your assistant, Amy, greets you with a smile and coffee.
"Good morning, Y/N." She greets.
"Good morning, Amy. Are you ready for today?" You ask her.
"Me? What about you? You're the designer honey." She says.
I laugh.
"That's true. I am nervous, I've been working towards this for awhile. I just hope I get it." You sigh.
Amy walks up to you, she puts her hands on your shoulders.
"Look at me and listen to me. You'll do great, I believe in you. If you believe in yourself everything will play out the way you want it to." She says.
You smile at her.
"Thank you, Amy. That means a lot." You say.
You walk to your desk and start organising your portfolio. Amy brings over a large bouquet of roses along with a card, you stop and slowly look up at her.
"Aww Amy, you shouldn't have. I don't swing that way." You smirk.
"They're not from me, silly. They're from some guy for you. There's no name..." She explains.
You shrug your shoulders and begin to drink your coffee.
"Oh wait, it's just an initial...P?" She says.
You spit out your coffee, luckily not on your portfolio or your clothes. You turn to her, and look at the card.
Miss Y/N,
That's right, I found out your name. Your little friend, Billie, has quite the mouth. She pretty much told me your whole life story but I stopped her after she told me your name and job. I want to hear about you, from you. So I hope you're still coming tonight, I thought you would like these so I came and delivered them myself on the way to a meeting. See you tonight. - P
"Oh Billie...my poor friend." You sigh.
"Billie? Is she okay?" Amy asks.
"No. She's in trouble." You say.
"Why? What happened?" Amy questions.
"Nothing yet, but she'll be begging for mercy when my hands wrap around her tiny neck." You say with an innocent smile.
Amy smiles and laughs nervously. You look at her and laugh.
"I wasn't being serious. This is from a guy, but Billie did play a part in this and she is in trouble. She should have stayed out of it." You admit.
Amy relaxes and giggles.
"Billie's probably just being a friend, looking out for you." She says before checking to see if your portfolio is complete.
You think about what she said for a second, that can't be true though. Billie is madly in love with Prince though...so why is she helping him get to you? Unless she's that star struck she doesn't even realise, poor girl. You shake your head and grab your folder and drawings.
"Lets go." You say.
You and Amy head to the meeting, you think about all your talking points in your head during the car ride there.
*Prince's POV*
I pace back and forth watching a team set up the place for tonight's party, they turn to me for approval. I rub my chin while looking at my surroundings then turn my attention back to what they were just doing.
"Mm...yeah that's good. Thanks fellas." I say.
I hear Tony calling me in the distance.
"Hey, Prince." He says.
"Hey, man. What's up?" I ask.
"Everything's coming along perfectly. Is there anything else you want done?" He asks.
I think for a moment, then a smirk appears on my lips.
"Yeah. Tonight when my beautiful guests arrive. Keep the pretty blonde preoccupied so I can talk to the other one." I say.
"Keep Billie busy while you talk to the friend?" Tony repeats.
"Yes." I nod.
"Okay. Can I ask why?" He asks.
"Because I want to get to know her, she didn't give me a chance last night. There's something about her that draws me to her." I admit.
"Alright man." Tony says.
"Thanks, Tony. I'll see you later." I say before heading towards the main foyer.
I admire the poster that was put up, I nod at the crew.
"Pretty good boys." I say.
*Your POV*
You and Amy were back at the office celebrating the fact you got the clients you were after, the clients you were working so hard for. The meeting was a success and your design projects start next week, you and Amy were just sitting down and going through some fabric samples.
"I think this would be great for that chair we spoke about earlier. That could go in the living room." You say, jotting down the idea.
"Yes. I like that fabric, in that colour too?" Amy asks.
"Hmm. I don't know, I'll play around with colours next week. We should call it a day. It's been a big one but successful, you have a family to get back to." You smile.
"I shall see you next week then." She smiles before getting up to leave.
Once Amy leaves you take a deep breath and sigh. You had a big smile on your face, everything is coming together. You went I go call your best friend, Billie to tell her the news then saw the flowers.
"Crap!" You say out loud.
You scurry to get out the invitation, you look for what time the party starts...it started two hours ago. You look at yourself in the mirror.
"Cannot be bothered. He better be happy I'm even showing up at all let alone late!" You say before sprinting to your car.
You drive to Paisley Park, once you put your car in park you sit there for a moment. You look at the big property before you, thinking maybe he didn't even notice you're not even there and should turn around and just go home. But screw it, you got out and made your way to the main door.
You walked inside and heard his music playing, there were people everywhere. His band members were mingling, Billie was with one of them. You kept looking around but...no Prince? Maybe he's not even here?
You practically searched the place top to bottom which took quite a long while and started to grow frustrated that you couldn't find him anywhere.
"So sick of these games." You muttered to yourself.
You decided you wanted some fresh air so you walked outside, you walked out and looked up at the sky. You stared up there for what felt like hours, you even smiled. It was nice and peaceful, you turned to go back inside and saw someone sitting down. It was Prince, and boy did he look beyond pissed.
"Prince..." You say.
He doesn't say anything, he just stares at you. His burning stare makes you feel a little uneasy.
"How long have you been out here?" You ask.
"An hour and a half." He finally answers.
Now you weren't the one to say anything, you were actually shocked that he waited around for you...and somewhat felt bad that he's been wasting his night waiting for you.
"I figured that if you didn't show up with Billie, you'd still be at work just for a little while longer. So I waited a little while longer, and you still weren't here...so I gave up and just been sitting out here ever since." He admits.
There was one emotion that you thought you would never feel, especially with him...but hearing those words come out and watching his blank expression is making your heart break a little.
