*Your POV*
The Next Morning...
You were gathering your notes into your brief case for today's important meeting with the client that could cost your job, this client happens to be an old friend of yours as well. You stayed up most the night trying to come up with ways to convince this client to come with your firm, you were a nervous wreck but the talk you had with your husband last night was keeping you sane.
Speaking of the handsome devil...
"Are you ready baby?" Prince asks.
You close your eyes and take a deep breath, you open your eyes and feel Prince's strong arms being wrapped around your waist, pulling you into him.
"You'll do great. I believe in you, remember...you were chosen this task for a reason." He whispers in your ear before kissing your cheek.
You take a deep breath and exhale, you look at yourself in the mirror and make sure you're dressed perfectly for the meeting.
"You look fantastic so don't even start." Prince reminds you.
You look over at him and smile.
"Thank you, baby. I'm just so nervous." You sigh.
"I know. Just breathe, it'll come to you naturally. Be confident." He says.
"What about you? You have your meeting today about releasing the album." You say.
Now it's his turn to get all nervous, he takes a deep breath and runs his hand through his glorious hair. Usually you don't go for men with long hair but Prince...his hair is god like. All you want to do is run your fingers through it, it's just heavenly.
"It'll be fine. Once this albums released I can just focus on the New Year's concert." He says.
You nod and walk up to him, fixing his shirt and turning his necklace around the right way. You finish off by planting a soft kiss on his lips, you can feel him smile on your lips before pulling away.
"You're so cute. Now go, I don't want either of us to be late." He says.
You grab your briefcase and start heading down to the foyer, Prince follows. You both get your car keys when Jerome comes strutting out.
"Are you both heading out?" He asks.
"Yes, Jerome. Y/N has her big meeting today and I have mine as well." Prince says.
You furrow your brows.
"You're still here? Don't you have some poor girl to annoy?" You ask.
Jerome snickers.
"No, Y/N. Actually Morris and I have some work to do today." Jerome says.
"Then why did you ask if we were both heading out?" You ask.
"Because I wanted to know if your manbag wanted to join us." He says pointing at Prince.
Prince rolls his eyes and looks at his watch.
"Oh look! It's a quarter to get out!" Prince says sarcastically, shooing Jerome out the door.
"I'll be back by dinner honey. Gimme a kiss." Jerome says leaning into Prince.
"You better start walking towards your car or I'll be backing my ass up against those lips of yours." He warns.
Jerome's eyes widen and he runs for his car. You couldn't help but laugh, Prince turns to you and pecks your lips.
"I love you. I have faith in you, you'll do great today. I'll see you tonight." He smiles.
"I love you more, good luck with your meeting." You smile and head to your car.
At The Meeting...
You walk in and sit down, what a view from the window. The nerves start to kick in, your boss has been trying to get this client for over a month. Your firm has quite the reputation and is one of the best around, but you'll need more than a reputation to get this client. A client who happens to be an old friend, an old friend who you two haven't spoken in nearly a decade due to a falling out. But you two never really resolved things in person that was why you're really nervous.
You hear a knock on the door and immediately stand up, you see your boss and the client walk in.
"Miss Y/N, Y/L/N. Mr Eric Dorian is here." Your boss announces.
Eric steps in and you shake his hand, he gives you a small smile and you do the same back.
"I'll leave you both to it." Your boss says before leaving.
You sit down and Eric sits on the opposite side, you look down at your notes briefly before clearing your throat.
"Mr Dorian. It's lovely to see you here today and thank you for coming." You say.
"I'm happy to be here, Y/N." Eric says.
You start to get nervous, you were hoping this was just going to be professional but he's already calling you by your first name.
"So, this firm offers complete confidentiality of all your information and all your affairs will be kept private. We will do everything we can to help you in any way possible with your business and investments, everyone here would be very loyal to you." You explain.
You look up at Eric and he's staring at you, you furrow your brows.
"Did...did you hear what I said, Mr Dorian?" You ask.
"Yes, I heard everything. Y/N, all of that sounds appealing, but I want to talk about you." He says.
"Me? What about me?" You ask.
"Well, we were friends since high school, we stopped over something and here we are." He says.
Oh no, do we have to do this here?
"Eric, do we have to?" You ask.
"Yes we have to. Y/N...we never got to talk, you blew me off." He says.
"You mean, I went and lived my life after you judged my life choices?" You corrected him.
You looked at him and he looks down at his hands on the table.
"What happened to us?" He asks.
"We were completely fine, until you judged me on my love life." You say.
He looks up at you.
"We were best friends, we were inseparable. Hell we even lived together! We did everything together, Y/N." He says.
"Yeah, we were. And then I met my husband, you told me I was making a bad choice by dating Prince, because of the person that he was. And that he was going to leave me after a little while and move onto the next woman." You shot back.
Eric stands up and looks down at you angrily.
"I only said those things because I care about you and I love you. I didn't want you to get hurt." He sighs.
You flash your left hand at him showing your engagement and wedding ring at him.
"Does it look like he hurt me?" You ask.
Eric stares at your hand.
"You two got married..." He says.
"Exactly. If you came here to argue I'd rather leave. Are you coming with the firm or not?" You snap.
"With that tone and unprofessionalism? No." He says.
You scoff, you grab your briefcase and walk to the door. You look back at him.
"And to think I actually missed you." You say before leaving.
You head downstairs and your boss stops you on your way.
"How did it go?" He asks.
You ignored him and continued on to your car, you got in and let the tears fall. The nerve Eric had showing up to just come here to be an ass like that got to you, costing you your job too. You decided to come back tomorrow for your things, you arrived back home at Paisley Park.
You went inside and didn't even care at this point, you tossed your keys and purse on the table near the door. Prince walks in and looks at you.
"Baby, what happened? Your boss called and said you just stormed out." He asks.
"I don't want to talk about it." You say softly, walking past him.
Prince grabs your wrist.
"Talk to me." He says.
"The client...the client was Eric." You admit.
Prince clenches his jaw and wrist, yeah...not a fan.
"Eric? As in Eric Dorian? The one who told you to stay away from me because I'm 'bad' for you and will use you?" Prince asks.
"Yes that one. I got fed up arguing and left, kissed my job goodbye and let it slap my ass on my way out the door." You sigh as you sit down on the couch.
Prince looks down at you, he sits beside you. He wraps his arm around you and pulls you into him.
"I'm so sorry baby." He whispers.
"Why are you sorry? He's the one who put fifteen years of friendship to waste over his judgemental shit." You ask.
Jerome struts into the room, he furrows his brows.
"Y/N, what's the frowning for? People usually have smiles on their faces when they get promotions." He says.
You shoot him a glare.
"Not today, Jerome!" You yell.
Prince glares at Jerome as well, as if to tell him to buzz off.
"I'm serious...your boss called asking for you. I told him you weren't up to talking at the moment, so he just wanted me to tell you congratulations on getting the client and that you're promoted to senior." He confesses.
Your eyes light up, Prince's jaw drops.
"What? That's...there must be a mistake." You stutter.
One of Prince's guard walks into the room.
"There's a Mr Dorian here to see you, Miss Y/L/N." He announces.
Eric walks into the room, he gives you all a small smile.
"Y/N." He simply says.
"Eric...why did you do that?" You ask.
"Because, you deserve all the happiness in the world. I made a deal with your boss." He says.
You raise your eyebrow.
"What kind of deal?" You ask.
"I told him I would be with the firm if...you represent me. Your boss then explains how you haven't gone that far into that field yet with the investment portfolios but then he quickly said he'll promote you." Eric says.
You gasp, you couldn't believe what you were hearing. You run over to him and hug him, he laughs and hugs you back.
"You're welcome." He says, letting you go.
"Thank you." You say.
Eric walks over to Prince, Prince just stares at him. Here we go.
"I was wrong. You're perfect for her, I'm so grateful for you. I guess I was the one that was insecure, I'm the one that couldn't live without her." Eric admits.
Prince continues looking at him, but then he smiles, sort of.
"I understand man. I would be the same way with someone as amazing as her." Prince says, then shakes Eric's hand. Eric shakes his back.
Jerome cheers.
"Yay! Happy families!" He says.
You all turn to look at Jerome and he looks between the three of you.
"What?" He asks.
"Jerome. If you interrupt one more time I swear I'll kick you in the jewels so hard you'll be choking on them." You threaten.
He looks at you.
"She will you know, she's done it to me...I almost spat mine out after coughing for ten minutes." Eric confirms.
Prince breaks out into laughter. You laugh as well then sigh, everything is looking up. You got a promotion, have the most amazing husband...your best friend back and a new pet...correction, Jerome.
