8- Out of all

It's been almost two weeks since I've last seen Elijah. I think he was done with me, since he never visited or anything. But I had other things in mind anyways.

In those two weeks, I've already had two job interviews and one of them was successful. Next week I'll start working as a teacher in the local elementary school. I can't wait.

I've always known that I wanted to be a teacher, just like my grandmother. Children always liked me for some reason and I enjoyed tutoring in high school, even though I was the youngest in my class. I always tutored my classmates back then, so I hoped teaching children wasn't something I couldn't handle.

It was Friday and I kind of regretted saying yes to coming along with Jason tonight. I had already stopped thinking about Elijah every second as I focused on other things. Like decorating my apartment and buying the last necessary things. It actually looks like a home now and I was planning on inviting my best friends for dinner on Sunday. Maybe my new neighbours too, so I'll finally get to know them.

Speaking of my two best friends, they seemed just as occupied as I was these past few days. I have no idea why, but I have a feeling something happened that night when they went out together. We all know drunk Stacey. And Jason wouldn't reject her if she offered, so they most likely had sex and were trying to forget about it. No one told me yet and I wasn't sure how to feel about that. They also never even talked about that night at the club, so something definitely happened.

I sighed as I prepared my late lunch. Jason was coming over in two hours and I still had to pick up an outfit and shower. I ate my freshly cooked wild rice with vegetables while watching some t.v. It was already dark outside and I felt cold. Winter is coming fast this year. I wrapped myself in a warm blanket before eating up. When I finished washing the dishes, I hopped into the shower.

I just finished getting clothed when my doorbell rung. I opened it to see my smiling brother.
"Hey you." I said, quickly running back to get my purse. I looked myself over in the mirror, before checking the purse for the money I prepared. If someone was going to rob me tonight, they'd get a jackpot.

"Ready?" Jason asked and I nodded, before pulling my coat on. I closed the door and walked towards his car, Jason opened the door for me. He backed out of my driveway and we were on our way.

"So." Jason started and I looked at him.
"You're going to see him again. Are you nervous?" I rolled my eyes at his ridiculous question.
"He's not a royalty, Jason. So no, I'm good." I answered and he chuckled.

"Besides, I'm just coming because I want to give him his money back. He gave me way more than necessary." I stated.
"And there I thought you loved me." Jason joked. I shook my head in amusement.

I actually called Stacey earlier, trying to get her into replacing me. But of course she wasn't available tonight, saying something about a mission. I really worry about her these days. She always smiles and is in a good mood.

"How are you going to give it back to him though?" He asked the same question I kept asking myself. He would be so close tonight, but so far away too. I'd have to actually wait for him outside or something.

"I'm not sure yet." I said honestly.
"Well, we can go look for his changing room, if you want to. I once broke into a guy's cabin, just to get some information." He told me as if it wasn't a big deal.

"Did he catch you?" I asked.
"No, but almost. Anyways, we won't have to be as sneaky, since you do want him to see you." He said and I nodded, before thinking twice about it.
"Or I could just write him a note and lie the money on his clothes." I thought out loud.

"Sure. Then we do have to be sneaky." Jason observed and I nodded.

He was so close. His muscles flexed and he looked even more attractive than last time. Even though he was fighting I felt so relieved to see him. Ugh, my stupid hormones. He left me and clearly doesn't want anything to do with me.

When the announcer, another one than last time, announced his name, the crowd went even wilder than last time. And when Prince Charming came to stand next to the man, he didn't even glance at me. But I knew he knew I was there. He somehow always did.

"I'd suggest we go before the first round ends. This fight seems to last as long as last time. And the first round is over in a few minutes if he doesn't finish him earlier. Come on." Jason said and I nodded.

"Isn't it a little suspicious if we both leave? I mean, I don't know if he even noticed you before, but I doubt you leave just randomly." I say as we pass a few people and walk towards the direction of Elijah's changing room.

"It'll look like there was an emergency and there is no way I'll let you wander off alone. Remember my rules?" He reminded me and I nodded. We kept walking and I was surprised to see no bodyguards there.

"Why-"
"Stop talking and get inside." Jason hissed, looking around. I saw a huge grey door with Elijah's stage name on it and quickly walked inside. Jason followed and I sighed when he closed the door behind him, the loud screams from the crowd vanishing.

"Why aren't there any bodyguards?" I asked, looking for a light switch. I finally felt something on the wall and turned it on, only to have Jason hiss and turn the lights off again.

"Are you insane? Rule number one of breaking into a fighter's changing room, don't attract attention by turning on the lights." He whispered and I inwardly scowled at myself. Of course. I heard Jason shifting with his jacket, before a bright white light burned my eyes.

"You have a torch with you?" I asked, shielding my eyes with my hands.
"It's my phone, you dumbass." He chuckled and I rolled my eyes.

"Let's go." I heard and followed him towards a small bench that he was pointing towards. Behind that bench was a row of lockers and it reminded me so much of the changing rooms in high school. I saw a sticker on one of the doors of the lockers and decided to open it that one.

"Hurry up." Jason said as I opened the locker.
"Give me your phone." I held out my hand and he handed it to me.
I pointed at the inside of the locker, realizing this was indeed Elijah's locker. Before I even saw his leather jacket, I smelled his cologne. Ugh, why does he have to smell so good?

"What the fuck are you doing? Put the money inside and let's go." Jason said and I turned towards him.
"Why are you so scared?" I teased, pointing the light on his face and he groaned in annoyance.

"Because." He took a step closer.
"These guys don't need bodyguards. Due to the simple fact that no one would even dare stepping into their changing room and invading their privacy. And here we are invading Prince Charming's privacy. Out of all fighters, you had to fuck with this one!" Jason hissed and I glared at him for his last sentence.

"You're an ass." I said before turning around and fidgeting with my purse. I heard my brother sigh.
"I'm sorry, L. I just don't want him to beat me up." He said.

"He's not going to beat you up." I assured him, not really convinced though and he chuckled.
"Yeah, you sound very convinced by that." He snorted.

"You need help?" Finally he noticed me struggling to open my purse. Out of all the damn purses I had, I had to take the one with the damaged zipper.
"Yes, I can't open the zipper." I pointed at my purse.

"Out of all-"
"I get it, just help me." I interrupted him. We both struggled with the zipper and were so focused on my purse that we didn't even hear the wild crowd at first. But then we heard a door shut close and the lights turned on.

Jason and I froze. We heard heavy footsteps come our way, the person walked slow and unsure, before they stepped right behind us. Jason gulped and I mirrored his reaction.

"You're not supposed to be here." I felt relieved when I heard an unfamiliar voice. I turned around to look at a security guard. Jason was visibly relieved too and I realized how much he actually respected Elijah.

"Abort mission." My brother whispered in my ear and I gave him a dumbfounded look. No shit.
"You run left, I'll run right. On three." I nodded at that and watched the security guard glare at us.

"Don't even think about it." He growled and I looked at Jason.
"Three!" He yelled and started running. I panicked before running the other way. He didn't even count! I heard the guard hiss and soon heard his footsteps come closer. Of course he follows me.

"Jason!" I yelled when I saw him at the door, successfully opening it. He waited for me, but before I could reach him, I felt an arm sneak around my waist, pulling me into a hard body. Oh no. Jason's eyes widened and he let out a battle cry, before running towards us. I almost giggled at how serious he took this. But then I realized it was pretty serious.

"Get your filthy hands off my sister!" He yelled and jumped on the man. Literally, he jumped on him like a child. But it was efficient as I felt the security guard let me go. I stumbled away from him and fell on my bottom.

Jason was still hitting the security guard on his head when I felt a presence behind me. And then I heard his voice.

"What the fuck?!" He roared, freezing everybody in the room. I gulped.
