Dear Diary,

Today was odd. Very odd. One of the dwellers brought me some sort of book. It was on some sort of magic. Of course I read it and... it seemed interesting. It actually said that there's a myth that theres a species called a "shadow" that steals souls to gain power. The picture showed a purple blob with yellow eyes. That's weird, looks like me. The spells and magic inside also seemed powerful. Though I found something: blue fire. It looked like an easy spell to learn. Could be useful to melt ice. Well... I did try to use it. But the fire was very weak. But after a bit... I figured out why. Since this 'shadow' species needs souls for power, I would need some too. I don't really know how to get souls. It seemed cruel to just steal souls from innocent people.

I didn't know if the dwellers counted too. I wouldn't want to use them, though. I read more, and it showed how these 'shadows' steal souls. Of course it still says it's a silly myth, but I could try it out. Apparently they need other's permission to steal it. That was kind of stupid considering they steal souls, but that was how it worked....? I tried to think of something, but I remembered my old profession. I used to be a lawyer, you know. I could make contracts so they TECHNICALLY agree. I dunno. But the question is how im supposed to find someone in this forest. Maybe ill just set traps! That would do the job.

I know that believing a myth seems stupid, but it's worth a shot if I can melt the ice.
