Chapter Sixteen.

Chapter Sixteen
Primadonna

LATE LAST NIGHT after Miguel went home, Sydney did a lot of thinking. She was so proud of Miguel and his accomplishment that it got her thinking about what to do with her own free time. So she made the decision to get back into dance. She searched multiple dance studios in the area till she sound one that close to Miguel's studio. Rosemary's Studio of Dance.  After calling the owner,  she was able to let Sydney come in and observe.

"Are you excited?"  Miguel asked as Sydney drove him to the karate dojo.

The Brit lightly shrugged.  "I guess,  yeah.  I haven't danced in years.  I'm a little rusty."

"Well I think you're great."  He complimented and kissed her hand that wasn't on the steering wheel.  "I can't wait till you start competing so I can come watch them all."

Sydney glanced at him with wide eyes.  "All of them?"

"Pff,  are you kidding?"  Miguel scoffed.  "I'll be in the middle row with a bouquet of carnations ever time."

A light red brushed her cheeks and she rolled her lips back,  hiding a smile.  "You're so cheesy."

"Only for you,  honey."  He grinned.

They arrived at the dojo and she parked on the side.  The couple exited the car and Sydney grabbed Miguel's hand,  walking him to the dojo.  Hawk came zooming in on his electric scooter.  "What's up."  He greeted,  cooly.

Sydney snorted.  "Nice ride."

He gave her a look. "Don't make fun. I get my license next week. My mom's gonna give me her sentra. I'm thinking about putting a blue racing stripe down the middle, good to tail."

"Subtle. I like it." Miguel replied.

"They always say your car should match your personality." Sydney added.

Hawk furrowed his brows. "What does your say about you?"

"I drive a BMW m240 I."

Miguel smirked.  "Expensive,  classy,  and gorgeous."

"Thanks baby."  She grinned and grabbed the other side of his face,  pulling him toward her and kissing his cheek.

Hawk faked a gag.  They walked around the corner and halted when they saw people lining up at the door. "Looks like we got some new students." Miguel declared.

Sydney pulled a face.  "Great,  more nerds."

The boys glanced at her simultaneously.

"Besides you two,  of course."  She smiled sweetly.  "Anywho,  I better get going."

"Have fun today.  I'll see you after?"  Miguel asked,  hopeful.

"Of course."  She answered and cupped his face,  bringing him down and kissed his lips.  "Wish me luck.  Au revior."

They watched her walk back to her car and Miguel sighed lovingly.  "I love it when she does that."

Hawk faked another gag.

A bell on top of the door went off when Sydney entered to the dance studio.  Multiple heads turned in her direction.  A woman with light blonde hair wrapped in a low,  tight bun made her way over to her,  smiling.  "You must be Sydney?"

Sydney grinned.  "Yes ma'am,  Sydney Beniost."

"Welcome to my studio.  My name is Rosemary Everette.  Please,  come have a seat."  Rosemary instructed kindly.  "Just leave your shoes at the door."

Sydney kicked off her high heels,  which made her drop about a foot or two,  and awkwardly sat on the wooden floor.  The multiple girls looked her up and down,  some looking intimated.

"Girls,  we have a new student.  This is Sydney Beniost."  Rosemary introduced.  "Sydney,  why don't you tell us about yourself."

Sydney glanced at the other girls and cleared her throat. "Hi,  my name is Sydney and I got to West Valley High."

Some of the girls laughed at how nervous she was and they started to whisper.  Sydney glared at them and straightened her shoulders back.  "I started dancing when I was eleven years old. I've won six national titles,  won first place every single competition, I've won first place in all my ballet solos, jazz solos, and lyrical solos, and I was named dancer of the year at Star Power dance competition when I was thirteen."

Everyone was silent and their jaws were slacked open. The girls that were talking about her stared with wide eyes, unable to say anything. A girl that was sitting across from her smirked at her and nodded her head in approval. Rosemary blinked rapidly before laughing. "That's amazing! Oh my gosh, I'm so excited to have you! Let's give her a hand, ladies."

Most of them slow clapped in jealousy but others clapped quickly and congratulated her.  Rosemary ordered for the students to start warming up so they could begin class.

"Sydney,  if you want to just observe today,  that'll be just fine."

Sydney grinned at the dance teacher.  "Yes ma'am."

The girl that smirked at her came and stood beside her.  "That was impress what you said.  I'm sailor."  She introduced and held her hand out.

Sydney shook it.  "Sydney,  nice to meet you."

"Nice accent."  Sailor smirked.  "I've never met a Brit before."

"I get that a lot."  Sydney grinned and flipped her hair.  "How long have you been here?"

"About three years but I've been competing since I was twelve."  Sailor answered.  She leaned forward and whispered so no one could hear.  "Don't pay attention to these bitches.  They're only here so they can tell people at their schools they're prima ballerinas."

Sydney grinned in understanding.  "Ahh,  I get it.  I can't wait to start.  You any good?"

"Watch and learn,  Brit."  Sailor smirked and walked off to join the other girls.

Sydney quirked a smile.

After the class ended,  Sydney drove back to the karate dojo to pick up Miguel.  She shuffled through the music on her phone till she heard her car door open and Miguel slid in angrily.

"Hey,  love,  how was class?"  She asked kindly.

"Sucked."  He answered.  "Sensei Lawrence is pissed at Hawk and I cause of what happened at the All Valley.  Said we  'cheated'."

"Well,  Hawk I can see but you?  No way."  Sydney shook her head.

"Thank you!"  He exasperated.  "God,  I don't know what his problem is."

"Did you ask?"

"Of course I did."  Miguel snapped.

She gave him a look.  "Don't snap at me.  I'm the girlfriend."

He glanced at her.  "Say kiss."

"Kiss."

They leaned forward and met in the middle,  pecking each other's lips.  "I'm sorry." He apologized.

"It's okay."  She nodded.  "Will Taylor Swift make it better?"

"She always does."

Sydney beamed and played Enchanted by Taylor Swift.  "Wanna go out for pizza?"

"Can we get milkshakes too?"  Miguel asked.

"Apple pie?"

"You know me so well."

"Wait,  so your dad opened his own karate dojo?"  Sydney asked as she followed Sam into her backyard.

"Yeah,  he opened last night."  Sam nodded.  "He's really excited about it."

"Aww,  I'm sure he is.  I love that man."  Sydney smiled happily.  "Are you the only student?"

Sam shook her head. "No, Robby's here too."

"Ohh,  I see." Sydney nodded. "Speaking of karate, have you and Charlie talked any?"

Sam blushed. "Oh, he might have dm'd me after the All Valley Tournament."

"That's my girl." Sydney slapped her arm gently. "Has he asked you out?"

"We just started talking, Syd."

"So what? What's the point on life if you don't go for what you want? Look at me." Sydney said and flipped her hair. "I got Miguel."

"And you two are adorable." Sam nodded. "But I'm not as bold as you."

"Every girl is bold, Sammy. It just takes the right motivation to bring it out."

The girls entered the backyard to see Robby hitting the punching bag. "Robby, nice to see you." Sydney smirked.

Robby stopped with the punching and grinned. "Hey Sydney, Sam."

"Hey guys." Daniel greeted when he crossed the bridge. He beamed at the sight of Sydney. "Syd, you joining to?"

"Not quite yet, Mr. Larusso," she shook her head. "But I don't mind being a cheerleader."

He chuckled. "Okay."

"So, what's our first lesson?" Sam asked.

"You'll see. Follow me." Her father ordered.

The three teens followed the man to the sandy area and watched him pour a bag of sand around into a large circle.

"I'm getting sand in my shoes." Sydney cringed and shuffled her feet that were covered by her Louboutin heels.

"If we're gonna play in the sand, can't we just go to the beach?" Sam suggested.

"No, not today." Daniel denied. "It's been a long time since this dojo's had more than one student, and you figure with two people you have twice the defense, right?"

Robby and Sam shrugged.

"Wrong. One of the cornerstones of Miyagi-Do Karate is always moving in a circle." Daniel explained and made a circle motion with his hands. "And with the wheel technique, you'll soon see that two people can be as strong as twenty."

"Very inspirational." The Brit nodded.

"Now, are you ready?"

"Yes, Mr. Larusso." Robby nodded.

"Let's do this." Sam agreed.

"All right, get in the circle." Daniel instructed and him and Sydney stood on the sideline as Robby and Sam walked into the circle. "Face me, bow. Face each other, bow."

Robby and Sam began doing their techniques and Sydney watched with interest. It was almost like dancing.

"Now show me the wheel."

The two of them began doing their moves with their backs to each other.

"No no no, you have to be perfectly in sync. Otherwise technique doesn't work." daniel objected.

"'Technique'? This feels more like a dance." Robby stated.

Sydney held up a finger. "A beautiful dance, might I add."

"Yeah, at what point do we do the hokey pokey and turn ourselves around?" Sam added in amusement.

"Hey, as a dancer I find that offense." Sydney stated.

"Okay guys, trust me. You both master this, no one's gonna mess with you." Daniel assured. "Come on. Let's try it again."

Sam and Robby listened and got back into their positions. They began doing their moves again.

"No no no, at the same time." Daniel objected again.

"How are we supposed to when we can't see each other?" Robby asked, pointing between him and sam.

"You need to sense what your partner is doing, even if you can't see them." Daniel explained.

"How exactly are we supposed to do that?" Sam asked, still not understanding. "The force?"

Daniel's phone went off and he checked it, sighing. "Shoot, I gotta go help your mom with something. Just-Just feel it all right? Sydney, can you help them?"

Sydney cocked her head back. "You want me to teach them?"

"Syd, you've been with me since you were eight. I believe you can do it." He nodded. "I'll be back as soon as I can."

He quickly left and left the three teenagers to themselves. Sydney smirked. "Ooh, I like being in charge."

"Do you even know what you're doing?" Sam asked with a raised brow.

"No clue but at least I look good trying to learn."

Sam and Robby laughed.

After gaining more knowledge on Miyagi-Do and helping Sam and Robby, Sydney met Miguel at a sushi restaurant down town. She beamed when she saw him already sitting at a table. "Hey, love."

Miguel grinned. "I will never get tired of hearing you say that."

"Good," she smirked and cupped his face, kissing him quickly before sitting in the chair across from him.

"I ordered us two hot mama rolls and I ordered you a sweet tea." He informed.

"Ugh, my favorite. Thank you." she grinned and sipped her sweet tea. "How was your day?"

He sighed. "It was good till sensei's old sensei showed up. We were goofing off and it embarrassed sensei, I guess and now we have to wake up at five AM tomorrow."

"Five AM? Jesus." She shook her head in disbelief. "What's his problem?"

"I think he wants to prove to his old sensei that he's teaching us well and we kind of blew it." Miguel shrugged sadly.

Sydney grabbed his hand across the table. "Hey, you're the All Valley champion. If that's not enough to prove his teaching skills than I don't know what will."

The boy grinned. "Thanks, Syd."

"I really should be a motivational speaker." She nodded.

The waiter brought them their sushi and they thanked him before digging in.

"How was your day?" Miguel asked his girlfriend and stuffed a sushi roll in his mouth.

"It was great, actually. I went to Sam's house and observed their karate lesson. It was actually really interesting." Sydney explained.

Miguel paused and furrowed his brows. "Wait, you're learning Miyagi-Do karate?"

She breathed out a laugh. "Mig, I've known the Larusso's since I was a kid. I know all about Miyagi-Do karate."

"Well yeah, but, are you joining them?" He asked like he was getting offended.

She frowned slightly. "No, I was just watching. What's wrong with that?"

Miguel went quiet and licked his lips before shaking his head. "Nothing, nothing, I'm sorry. It's just if you ever do decide you want to join karate, I would love for it to be with me."

"Believe me, when that day comes, you'll be the first person who knows." She assured and grabbed his hand again, squeezing it.

He grinned. "Good. I hope so."

They continued to talk about their day while eating a bunch of more sushi and enjoying each other's company.
