Chapter Forty Nine
Primadonna
CHRISTMAS WAS SYDNEY'S favorite holiday. She loved decorating her house with the Christmas tree and ornaments and she loved getting to buy and wrap presents. Her parents would also be home for the holiday which only made her more excited. The Benoist house was decorated in white christmas decorations with a large white tree sat in the corner of the living room.
Sydney sat in the living room with her parents as they discussed the Christmas party they were going to tonight. "Will you be okay here tonight, Syd?" Her mom asked.
Sydney almost laughed out loud. "I'll be okay, mum. I'll probably invite everyone over for a movie night,"
"No parties," her dad pointed at her. "These decorations were expensive. I don't need your hooligan friends destroying them,"
"Please," she rolled her eyes. "Demetri would probably walk behind them and clean up their mess,"
"Well then he's my favorite." Alexander grinned.
"I'm just so happy you've made all these new friends," Caroline beamed. "They seem like great kids."
"They are," Sydney nodded with a hint of a smile. "Some of them are kinda dorky but they mean well. They kind of keep me in line, y'know?"
Caroline and Alexander smiled at each other.
Sydney checked her phone. "I gotta go pick up Miguel. I'll probably be back before you guys leave,"
"If you're not then we'll call you," her father said. "Have fun."
"Love you guys!" She said over her shoulder and walked out of her house.
"Did you know what Mr. Larusso was from Receda?" Miguel asked when he got in her car.
Sydney nodded. "Yeah, he told me the story when I was little. Insane, huh? He works so hard for everything they have,"
Miguel nodded. "I know. And did you know Johnny was a rich kid?"
Sydney snorted. "Johnny Lawrence? Our Johnny? The man that mixes his shampoo and conditioner with water when it runs out? The man that rewears the same pants five days in a row?"
"No, the other one."
She glared at him.
Miguel grinned. "Sorry. But yes, that Johnny. Mr. Larusso told me that sensei used to bully him in high school,"
Sydney flicked her brows upward. "I can believe it. Does it shock you?"
Miguel shrugged. "I mean, sorta kinda. Not really? I'm not sure,"
Sydney took her eyes off the road for a second and looked at him. "Teenage boys are assholes, Mig. They were young and stupid. I mean sometimes they're still stupid but people change. Johnny's a good guy."
Miguel nodded silently. "I know. It still kinda hard to hear though."
She nodded and grabbed him hand. "Will a hot chocolate and pretzel from the mall cheer you up?"
"It always does."
Sydney and Miguel spent nearly all day at the mall Christmas shopping. She kept her eye on the things that he lingered on the most, making mental notes in her head on what to get him for the holiday. This would be the first Christmas they were celebrating as a couple.
"You sure you don't need help carrying those?" Miguel asked, motioning to the multiple bags she was carrying.
She gave him a look. "No because I don't want you to peek inside. Some of these are for you,"
He rolled his eyes playfully. "Syd, you don't have to get me anything,"
"Syd, you don't have to get me anything," she mocked. "Shut the hell up."
"I'm serious!" He exclaimed with a laugh. "You being with me is a present itself."
She rolled her eyes. "Be cute all you want. I'm still giving you presents,"
They got to her car and she opened her to trunk to put the bags inside. When she was done, she cupped his face. "You're my boyfriend and this is our first Christmas together. No matter what you say, I'm spoiling you. got it?"
Miguel pouted and then huffed in her face. "Okay."
She smirked and kissed him. Her phone started to ring and Sam's name popped up on the screen. She quickly answered. "Sam?"
"Syd, I have a plan to get Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang to come together. I need yours and Miguel's help. You in?"
Sydney's eyes flickered to Miguel. "We're in."
After saying goodbye to her parents and telling them to have fun at the party, Miguel and Sydney picked up the boys from Eagle Gang and drove to Sam's house.
"Your car is so clean." Mitch gasped when he looked around Sydney's car.
"It is now," she said and glared at Miguel. "I had to clean up someone's food crumbs in my floor board."
He pointed at her. "At least I helped,"
"I don't feel worthy enough to sit in these seats." Bert commented with wide eyes while shifting in his seat.
"Wanna sit up front with me on the way back?" She asked and looked at him through the mirror.
He gasped. "Totally!"
Miguel pulled a face. "No!"
When they arrived at Sam's house, Miguel rang the door bell and Sam opened the door, allowing them in.
"Oh dude," she heard Chris say.
The boys jumped up from the couch as soon as they saw them. "Oh, hell no! You gotta be kidding me." Chris said in disbelief.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Mitch sneered and glared at Miguel and Sydney. "This isn't a keg party,"
"No shit, no one at a keg party where's that outfit," Sydney said and looked at his christmas sweater and hat.
Miguel pinched her side.
"Wait, you parent trapped us? Why?" Demetri asked.
"Lok, I know we haven't always gotten along, but Cobra Kai is the bigger threat now," Sam explained. "To all of us."
"We think we'd stand a better chance against them if we joined forces," Miguel added.
Sydney nodded. "Two dojos are stronger than one."
"Nice," Miguel whispered.
The others objected in disagreement. "Look, I know we've all done shitty things," Miguel started again.
"Yeah, like breaking Demetri's arm," Chris shot at Mitch.
"You guys started that fight." Mitch argued.
"After you almost got me fired!"
"God, I hate your stupid face so much," Bert sneered at Nate.
"If you died, I wouldn't even attend your funeral."
Sydney gasped. "Damn, I'm not even that mean."
"This isn't gonna work," Miguel muttered.
"It has to." Sam insisted.
"There's too much bad blood. What makes us think we're going to bring them all together in one night?" Sydney questioned.
"We have one more chance to make things right," Sam said to all of them. "Alone, we're nothing. But if we work together we have a shot. If we can't get over the past the fighting will never end. We have to confront our enemies. This rivalry has to stop one way or another."
"You think this will work?" Miguel asked.
Sydney chewed her bottom lip. "Not sure. Worst case scenario, we lock them all in a closet together till they agree to team up."
He furrowed his brows. "I feel like that would make things worse."
She smirked and shrugged. "Maybe, but it would be fun."
They're literally the definition of he fell first but she fell harder.
OMG we're coming to the end of season 3!!😭😭😭
