Chapter 4
Virgil sighed. He never wanted to go back there ever again. And he was going to rescue Princey. It was a lose, lose situation. He felt Thomas Summoning the Side and sighed before sinking out.
"What's up, Tho-" Virgil knew something was wrong as soon as he popped up. "Thomas, what's going on?"
Thomas didn't say anything. Logan sighed and handed a note to Virgil. "Can you make any sense of this?"
Virgil's blood ran cold. "I'd thought he'd forgotten." He whispered before looking up at the other Sides, crumpling the note in his hand. "It's a code me and my brother used to use. He says 'I know about your name, Virgil. You lied to me. Now we aren't happy. Make sure we don't take it out on Princey'."
"You've got a brother, Virgil?"
Virgil nodded. "He's a lot younger than me. Insecurities. He likes to lurk in your mind at night, Thomas."
"Oh. And all that time, I thought it was you." Thomas shook his head. "Well, what are we going to do?"
"Well, the only logical thing to do is continue with our original plan."
Virgil shook his head. "No. The Dark Sides are too clever for this. They would never just send us a threat without there being a catch. Something's off about this."
"Kiddo," Patton said gently, "this is the only plan we've got."
Virgil shook his head. This wasn't right. Something was off.
"We should try rescuing Roman tomorrow. Thomas cannot function without Creativity for long."
Thomas sighed. "You're right, Logan."
The Sides sank out, Virgil getting an idea. It was a stupid idea but he needed to find out what Janus was planning.

Virgil walked down the Dark Sides corridor, hating every second of it.
"Who's there?" A voice asked. Virgil smiled slightly.
"Hi Anger."
Anger growled. "What are you doing here?"
"I wanted to see my little brother."
Anger lept at Virgil and twisted his hands behind his back. "I don't believe you."
Virgil shrugged. "Okay. I'm telling the truth. Are you going to unhand me or...?"
Anger growled and pushed Virgil into the Dark Sides Common Room. "Look at what I found, Jan." She growled. Virgil looked around. Janus, Remus, Guilt, Insecurities and... Roman were staring at him. Virgil glared at Roman, telling him not to say anything.
"Well, well, well. What are you doing here, Virge?" Janus asked as Insecurities shrank back against Guilt.
"I wanted to see my little brother."
Janus laughed quietly. "You can't fool us, Virgil." He hit Virgil on the head. "Now, why don't you tell us why you're actually here."
Virgil smirked slightly. "Would you believe me if I said that I wanted to re-join you guys?"
Janus burst out into humourless laughter. "Don't lie." He hissed.
"Ah, didn't think you would. Then I going to stick with my first story. I came to see Insecurities."
"I don't want to see you." Insecurities mumbled. "You didn't trust me with your name so I can't trust you. Why didn't you? Was I not good enough?" He asked, tears coming to his eyes.
"Oh, no, no, no, no." Virgil said, immediately worried about his younger brother. "It wasn't you. I wasn't ready to tell anyone. It took me forever to tell just four people. You were the best brother."
Insecurities glared at Virgil, shrinking further back into the shadows. "I don't trust you." He said. "You can't fool me anymore, Anxiety."
Virgil sighed, a little disappointed.
"Now that you've seen your brother," Janus hissed angrily. "Get. Out."
Virgil nodded and turned on his heel, leaving.
"Well, I got what I wanted." He thought bitterly.
