⚜️28⚜️ - Flurry of Feelings
⊱Il y a un blizzard dans mon coeur⊰
There is a blizzard in my heart
┏━━━━━━༻♔༺━━━━━━┓
Months and eventually years passed in merely a couple of days.
At some point, I had started working at aunt's kindergarten. Father was still working tirelessly and had become the head of Snowberry. In between that, I kept telling him to focus on his health and enjoy life. Time was not waiting for me most of the times.
If not talking with my father, whether on the phone or rarely in person, I often found myself with Jimin in practice rooms, in our apartments, or somewhere random. Sometimes the both of us found him taking care of me whenever I got sick. When those times happened, father would scold him to come back to work and ask my aunt or Aerin to go to me. Aerin was busy, too. After starting work at Snowberry as a makeup artist, she had little time to spare.
The time of Jimin's hospitalization was nearing. In a year or so, the news would shake the public and that would be the end of everything. Father was yet to commit something immoral, but I was more and more on edge every time skip.
I lifted my head up to watch the tiny sparkles floating in the air as my breaths left my lips in white fogs. Bringing my hand up, I tried to catch the snowflakes that endlessly fell from the obsidian night sky.
"You're here already?"
I followed the voice and saw Jimin jogging up to me.
"You know, I'm wondering how we're not in a scandal yet," I thought out loud, making him snicker.
"Your dad's the head of Snowberry."
I paused. "Ah."
"Are you disappointed?"
My eyebrows knotted. "What?"
"There's no articles about us," he said, mischievous glint dancing in his eyes. As if I would want to be involved in any drama with him. He was full of himself but what was new?
"I'd rather shave my eyebrows than be in a dating rumor with you," I bit back.
"I'm not bad and- Hey! You're my fan!"
"You approached me first! You're my fan!" I retaliated but cringed when it made no sense.
"Why would I be your fan?" He giggled, his voice twinkling like the stars in the night sky.
"I don't know. Because I skate amazing!"
"Okay okay." He laughed louder, squeaking in between. "I'll be your fan. Happy?"
"Psh." I whirled around, trying to hide my embarrassment.
"Look! Your relatives."
When I turned back to him, surprised, he was extending his hand with tiny snowflakes melting on it. I hit him.
"That's abuse," he teased, nudging my shoulder with his, and I wondered what had gotten into him.
"If you don't stop with the snowflake, I'll show you what real abuse is," I deadpanned but he was still gleeful.
"Kinky?"
My face turned disgusted.
"Are you cold?" He suddenly took off his wool scarf and wrapped it around me. "Let's go inside." He changed the topic and led us into his car to drive back home. When my father and I moved to a more luxurious apartment, Jimin moved to the next door and I was half annoyed, but half relieved. I was going crazy.
He opened the car door for me to get in and jogged to the other side to sit on the driver's seat. A buzz sounded in his coat pocket and he took out his phone before shock crossed his features, freezing him.
"W-What is it?" I asked, affected as well.
"I..." he whispered, staring at his phone. "I forgot about this."
"What?"
"Dating scandal. I'm in one now and... I remember getting so much threats and my offers being cancelled," he shakily said, hands trembling slightly.
"What?"
He took a deep breath before explaining, "The company asked me if I accept this organized scandal. This isn't the only scandal that'll happen. You might remember. They asked me but I refused. Still, it happened again."
I remembered. The scandal that put a huge dent in his career. So Jimin refused but they still went on with it?
I whipped out my phone and tapped on my father's contact. After a few rings, his voice appeared and I gritted my teeth.
"Dad. Did you do it?"
"What?" He sounded tired and I would have ended the call any other time but not now. "Sae, be more clear."
"Did you get Jimin into a scandal?" I raised my voice unintentionally, my heart was growing heavier.
He sighed. "It's not your concern."
"Dad! You did it?! Why?!"
"You won't understand. It's business. It's best if you just ignore this. Jimin won't be affected much. It's just a few articles."
"That's a blatant lie! He refused! You ignored that?! He's a human with feelings! Didn't you think about what he'll be through? He's my friend!"
My words echoed in my mind.
"He'll bounce back," he dismissed. "He's famous enough to recover. This was needed. Don't be so emotional over nothing."
"Dad!"
The line went dead, making me still.
"D-Dad!"
I shoved the car door open and rushed to get out but Jimin tugged my hand back, asking with a panicked voice, "What are you gonna do?"
"I'll stop this," I huffed out.
"You can't do anything. They didn't listen to me, how can they listen to you?"
I paused for a moment and looked at the snow logo on the company building, contemplating, but it wasn't the time to tolerate what was happening. I wordlessly ran out. I had to try at least. With a burning heart, I ran up the building and slammed the door to my father's office open.
"Dad, don't do this!"
He frowned at me, definitely not expecting to actually come see him for that. "You don't know anything. All the people working here. They need money to take care of their family, their children. Why are you so against something that benefits many? Benefits us?"
"Jimin is a human too," I whimpered, not believing what I was hearing.
"It's just a dating scandal!" He boomed, making my weak heart jump but I stood my ground. I had to.
"It's a scandal nonetheless! And I know you won't stop there!" My power surged through my being and his eyes shone white. "Don't treat him like an object that's just there make you money."
"Are you... in love with him?"
I widened my eyes. "W... Why would you...? I'm not. This has nothing to do with that! Whether or not I have feelings for him, you shouldn't do that!"
"Stay out of this, Sae," he strictly said and his eyes dulled back to their normal color. I was warned but my power had become weaker than I thought.
My father stomped past me and I helplessly watched him leave. This wasn't what I imagined. The thought of my father doing something wrong was not so unbelievable now. But when that happened, what could I do?
"Let's go home, Sae."
I snapped out of my daze to see Jimin standing at the doorway. He was visibly shaken, something I thought I wouldn't see, but then again, I didn't know what actually happened in his life. It was all gold and glamour in the public's eyes.
Nodding, I walked over to him and he drove me to our apartments without mentioning anything about the scandal. From the side, his once full cheeks were hollowed and his eyes were surrounded with dark spots under them. Recently, he released new songs and videos and was preparing for live performances.
"Christmas is nearing soon," I slipped a comment in between the silence. "Right?"
"I think so. But I'll only be busier." His tone had a hint of sorrow that made me question him.
"Don't you like your job?"
He stayed silent for a while. I didn't mean to sound so accusing. It was like I was probing into his privacy so I stopped expecting an answer. But he talked to me.
"I do. I love dancing and performing. I can't imagine doing something else in my life. When I debuted and exposed myself to the public, I was too excited. You don't know how much I enjoy being in the spotlight and being loved by others."
Listening to him, I watched the snow falling softly on the windshield. It didn't seem real how he chose to tell me his feelings. But I listened attentively.
"As time went by, I wanted more and more. I pushed myself past my limit. It was all I could think about. How much I wanted more. More love, more fame, more performances, more luxury. I cared about nothing else."
He parked the car and I realized we already arrived. He turned off the engine but didn't make any move to get out.
"And you got what you wanted... right...?"
His eyes lowered to the wheels and he nibbled on his plump lower lip. "Perhaps, yes... But I can't say. Did I do the right thing..."
"Jimin," I whispered, hesitantly placing my hand on his arm. "I'm sorry..."
He glanced at my hand and placed his on mine before taking it off himself. "Let's go in."
He opened the door to get out and my heart constricted. The snow was falling softly outside but there was a painful blizzard in my heart.
