016. - "Heirs of the Dragon"
KINGSLANDING, 44 AC
Shortly after Jaehaera finally returned from her trip in Pentos, she went into labour, which must not have been pleasant for her. However, it was even less pleasant for the people around her, especially Lady Selyse.
Coincidentally (or maybe because Maegor enjoyed humiliating her) Selyses room was right next to the birthing chamber of Jaehaera.
"LADY CAN YOU JUST SHUT UP FOR ONCE." Selyse screamed, tired of Jaehaeras screams that have been violating her ears for the past six hours.
Just to Selyses luck, the walls were oddly thin.
"HOW ABOUT YOU TRY TO PUSH A MASSIVE ASS BABY OUT OF YOUR PARTS LADY." Jaehaera snapped back, quickly getting shushed by Kathryn, whom was also present.
"Jaehaera, don't even give her any attention, focus on your breath-" Kathryn tried to comfort her, but quickly got interrupted.
"ALSO IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT, MAYBE SAY IT WITH YOUR CHEST, WHORE." Jaehaera screamed, heavily panting.
Selyse eventually stormed in. "DONT CALL ME LADY, I DID THIS FOUR TIMES BEFORE, WHO ARE YOU TO TELL ME THAT I DONT KNOW ANYTHING?!"
"OH FOR FUCKS SAKE." Kathryn cursed out. "GET OUT, BOTH OF Y- I MEAN SELYSE, GET OUT, GO BED AND DO WHATEVER YOU DO."
Selyse stormed out, enraged.
Meanwhile, Maegor was having a good time with his new hand, Lord Vicatrion Westerling, the son of the late lord of the Crag and the husband of Lady Joanna Blackwood.
"You know what I'm looking for on this trip, Victarion, find me the White Hart, we are going to hunt in the Kingswood. You better be fast enough or you will be the one the Hart will feast on." Maegor said, clearly pissed off that this was taking so long.
He chuckled. "Of course. Hopefully you'll have a new heir or two by the time we get back."
"Yes, hopefully she gives me a son, I don't want my reign to be full of daughters who will grow up to be like their mother." He looked Victarion in the eyes. "I bet you wouldn't want that either, so stay fast and catch that hart and bring it back to me, understood?"
"I have a daughter and I have to say, she delights me everyday." He smiled, sharing his experience.
"Daughters are nothing but a hindrance, they are worthless and have no use other than being married off to some lord and being used for their claims. I have no use for daughters, I just want sons." He said. "Let us hurry up with this hunt though, it is not every day I go hunting, and I would rather have that White Hart's head on my wall than another boring daughter."
"My daughter Jadwiga hunts just as well as the boys could, she is my little angel, but I get what you mean." Victarion said with a smile.
This made Maegor curious. "Hmm, what does your wife say about your daughter? Surely she would want her to behave like a proper lady, rather than a boy."
"Joanna never stopped her from following her dreams." He said. Ever since they first met, Victarion had been passionately in love with his wife, Lady Joanna Blackwood.
"Joanna must be a poor mother if she allows such a thing to happen. She is going to look down on you for having a daughter who is more of a boy than a girl. I bet your wife will even tell others that she wishes for a son." Maegor sighed.
"Nope, Joanna almost died giving birth to her, we're not having that again." He chuckled, walking deeper into the Kingswood.
"That is no excuse. If your wife is unable to carry another child, then you get a new wife, one who has good hips and knows how to give birth to children. Do you think it is wise to have only one child when others are having three or even five of them?" He argued.
"I love Joanna too much. I've known her since I was a boy squiring for your father." He admitted.
Maegor took a deep breath, looking away for a second, but his face stayed cold.
"Well, that is your problem I suppose, I hope for your daughter to end up with a nice lord, but not too high or she will try to have the claim for herself, but be careful for she has been trained to fight like a man and will think she actually has power."
"She knows her place." He smiled. "Enough of me, how are your daughters? I heard your eldest hunted a white stag recently."
"Rhaella has the same foolish beliefs as your daughter, she goes around with one of my guards and thinks she is doing something good and brave, and not that she could get attacked by a boar and die from her wounds. The White Hart should go to me, and no one else, but now that my daughter has caught it, I have been forced to call her my favorite, even though she is still a worthless girl." Maegor sighed.
"I've meet your daughter before, she is very polite, I have to say. Jadwiga enjoys spending time with her." Victarion smiled.
Maegor narrowed his eyes and looked away. "She is a polite girl when she has to be, with that being said, she still has her childish ideas, which is dangerous. It is my duty to set her straight."
"Weren't you just the same? Full of crazy ideas?" He chuckled. "I've known you since I was a boy, Maegor, that girl is just like you, more of a man than your son even."
Maegor frowned at Victarion, his expression stayed cold and he said nothing for a moment. "Are you suggesting that my daughter has what it takes to rule like I do?"
"Yes. Your son, the prince Maegor, is a drunken fool. More interested in cats than his duty.. but Rhaella? She is a woman with the heart of a man." Victarion explained.
Maegor was surprised to hear Victarion say this, and he narrowed his eyes even further. "You think that Rhaella could rule like I do? You think that I should treat her the same as I treat Maegor and call her my heir to the throne?"
"Yes. She is far more capable."
Maegor looked away from Victarion, still silent for a moment. He was thinking about what his friend was saying. "Hmm, it is true that Rhaella is competent and has more courage than Maegor, but does that mean she deserves to inherit the throne? Is it wise?"
"In my opinion, it is." He smiled.
"Hmm," He stayed quiet for a moment and then moved on from that, he did not want to talk about Rhaella that much again.
They kept walking until they saw a large animal in the far distance. "Is that a white stag? If it is, I saw this first, so it is mine."
Meanwhile in Kingslanding..
After spending the last ten hours of her life in pain, Jaehaera was finally relieved from her agony. She had not delivered one, but three healthy children, two sons and a daughter.
Messengers were immediately send to the Kingswood, under them was Dorian Hightower, the lead.
When they arrived, Maegor looked at the Dorian with a raised eyebrow, he wondered what could have been so important for this messenger to come out and find them.
When he got the news, Maegor froze for a second and stared at Dorian in shock. After recovering from the news, his face lit up and he began laughing. "You truly are not joking with me? She has given birth to three kids? Three?"
"I am in no way tampering with the information given to me." He chuckled.
Maegor was stunned, he had not expected this, but this was good news, he had sons, at last, this was worth celebrating. "Thank you for this news, how is my wife doing?"
"Fine, obviously exhausted, bless that poor woman." He chuckled.
"Three babies? I am glad she is fine, I need to see my children as soon as I can. I do have one question, how does my wife look?" Maegor asked.
"Why would that matter?" Victarion chimed in.
"It matters quite a lot, she just gave birth to three babies, so I would like to know if she looks tired or not."
Dorian took back word. "Obviously she looks tired.
"Hmm, well that is to be expected from a woman who gives birth to three children, is she in a lot of pain? Are her wounds healing properly?" Maegor asked with worry.
"I am no Maester or midwife, sire."
"I understand that you are no maester, but surely you must know some of her well being, you are the one who brought me the news after all. Is my wife happy with her children? Is she excited to see me?" He responded.
"She asked for you, so I believe she is." Dorian replied.
"And you will take me to her then, right?" He said, already excited about seeing his new children.
"Right." He responded.
Maegor was eager to see his wife and children, so he hurried along with Dorian and Victarion. When they got back to the Red Keep, he rushed to the apartments where he knew his wife would be.
Jaehaera just laid in bed, exhausted but yet happy to see him.
Maegor immediately ran over to her side and kneeled beside her bed to see her and his children. His face was filled with joy and relief, he looked at her and saw that she was just as exhausted as he had imagined she would be.
"Are you alright? Were the children born without complications and did the midwives say everything is alright with them?"
"Everything is Fine, don't you even worry dear." Jaehaera replied with a yawn.
He looked at her and smiled, she was still looking so tired, but even with that, she was beautiful to him. He looked over at the children's nursemaid who was holding the two boys up in the air and playing with them before laying down the baby girl, who was already asleep.
"I have three children, three beautiful children. They all look so strong, but what about their names? Have we decided on anything for them?"
"I dont think we did." She sighed.
"Well, we should figure that out, it would be bad for them to have no names for long. The boys and the girl, what should we call them?" He asked.
Jaehaera didn't think long. "Maybe one of them could be called Aegon, we have no Aegon yet."
"That sounds like a good choice for one of our sons. And after that what about the others? This choice is a bit difficult." Maegor pondered.
"What would you suggest, love?" She smiled again.
"I see the girl sleeping peacefully there, maybe she should have a lovely and calm name, one that makes her sound like a sweet and innocent girl. Maybe we could call her Daenerys or Rhaenyra?" He suggested.
"Hmm.." Jaehaera paused, "Which one would you like the most?"
"I am not sure to be honest, both names fit perfectly for her, but if I had to choose, I would go for Rhaenyra." He shrugged.
"Perfect, and for the second son?" Jaehaera smiled contented.
"Hmm, that is a tough one. We already have an Aegon, so I would not like to use that name again. Do you have any suggestions for the second son?"
"Maybe Aelyx?" She asked.
"That sounds like a beautiful name that would suit our son, does it mean anything?" Maegor inquired.
"No, I just made it up." Jaehaera shrugged.
He chuckled, he was not expecting that she would make up the name.
"Alright then, his name shall be Aelyx, we will have Aegon, Rhaenyra and Aelyx. Does that sound good?"
"Indeed it does, now we have the names set, we have to wait for a bit before you fully recover and that is all. I can't wait to show them off around court." Maegor smiled happily.
"Neither can I." Responded Jaehaera.
