005. - "We all have our Reasons."

THE KINGS CHAMBERS, 42 AC.

"Well, well husband, I'm sorry for you and your whores loss." Jaehaera uttered without a second thought. Her kindness was completely gone ever since she discovered Maegors and Kathryn's late-night endeavors.

Maegor turned sharply to see his wife, Maegor was never kind to Jaehaera, and always neglected her, never showing any love or affection for her or their children. His face was cold.

"Are you saying that in a sympathetic or mocking tone, wife?" He said, his tone hardened. Kathryn's miscarriage has been hard on him, especially since the discovery that it wasn't natural, but man-made.

"Why would I be sympathetic? Her bastard deserved to die, I would never wish a miscarriage upon anyone, but she deserves it." Jaehaera scoffed while giggling.

She knew who caused it, and she wasn't ashamed of it.

The coldness of Maegor's eyes was palpable. He stared at her, his jaw clenched in anger.

"Watch your tongue, wife."

"Why should I. Bastardy is a sin, the gods did her a favour by taking that bastard out of her womb." Jaehaera counterargued, her voice was as cold as ice.

"Her baby died, Jaehaera."

Maegor said it so simply and plainly that Jaehaera might have felt her stomach roil in pity and guilt.

"I'm not saying what happened was wrong... but she still deserves sympathy."

"Sympathy for sleeping with my husband? Never. May all her sons die out."

The bitterness in Jaehaera's eyes was no mystery to Maegor, yet her comments still surprised him.

A look of rage built up in the King's eyes, his jaw clenched.

"I have been your husband since you were fourteen years old and I will not take such disrespect from one who's still a child. Your opinion is of little importance, child bride."

"So is yours, child groom." Jaehaera countered sharply. She truly didn't care anymore.

Maegor's face reddened in anger, the blood vessels on his temples bulged. Jaehaera knew this was the last thing she wanted to see.

"Your place, for now at least, is on the Dragonstone and not by my side unless I call for you."

Maegor grabbed the girl by her sliver hair, pulling her closer.

"Gladly." She responded coldly.

"Good."

Maegor released the girl, looking down on her as if she were a bug, then turned away.

Jaehaera seemed completely unscathed, she felt like she was in the right.

A FEW DAYS LATER, DRAGONSTONE, 42 AC

Maegor summoned Jaehaera to Dragonstone, to speak to her about an important matter, and when the young queen eventually arrives, she is met with her husbands cold and stoic expression.

"You're late." Maegor said it bluntly, his expression not changing as he motioned for Jaehaera to take a seat.

She was quick to take a seat. "Hello, husband." She spoke in indifference.

Maegor waited until Jaehaera sat so he could finally speak.

"Do you know what the matter of today's meeting is regarding?" He said blankly, not looking at her.

"Is it because I made fun of Kathryn miscarrying her bastard you two conceived?"

Maegor's gaze finally shifted in her direction. The look he gave was colder than the North and the anger built up in his face was unrivaled.

"Yes."

"Great, i can defend myself now."

Maegor sighed before speaking.

"Speak."

"First of, who does she think she is? The fucking queen? Second, what made her think her bastard would inherit over my TRUEBORN daughters with you. Third, I poisoned her tea. The miscarriage was entirely my fault and I am not ashamed."

Jaehaera smiled at him, coldly and calculated.

Maegors face stayed just as cold as it was before, but his eyes lit up and his jaw twitched when he heard that.

"You did what?" He asked it bluntly, the anger boiling beneath the surface.

"You heard me, I had my reasons." Jaehaera spoke coldly and sounded genuinely upset.

"What reasons, Jaehaera? What reasons did you possibly have to kill your friends baby? You have no reason to have done such a thing." He was still cold, but something about the way he said it made him seem concerned, as if he was worried about his wife.

That's when Jaehaera completely lost it. She hid her face in her hands and sobbed bitterly.

"First this.. whore comes into my life and pretends to be my friend, Seven hells, she was even at my side when I gave birth to Rhaella.. and then she just sleeps with my husband and proudly carries a dirty bastard around with her, daring to try and challenge my daughters claims on their own inheritance. I couldn't bear it anymore."

Maegors face was one of confusion, he wasn't expecting such an emotional response from Jaehaera. He let her cry for a few seconds, watching her quietly in front of him.

"Do you think I love her?" He looked right into her eyes as he spoke.

"Of course you do, don't even deny it." Her eyes were red, her cheeks were wet with tears. She truly was a broken woman now.

A small smile curled on his lips as he looked into her red and wet eyes.

"I am not here to deny it, love."

Maegor walked towards her and put his hands on her shoulders as he sat in front of her.

"I am in love with her, Jaehaera."

"Then why don't you marry her." Jaehaera bluntly asked. She wasn't heartbroken, as there was no heart left for Maegor to break.

Maegor smirked, knowing Jaehaera was not expecting that response.

"Because I already have." He said it plainly, then paused, he wanted it to hurt.

"You're barren."

Jaehaera couldn't help but break out laughing at that sentence.

"I've given you two daughters, you dumb cunt. So I can't be barren, now can I."

Maegor looked at her, his face was stone-cold but a slight smile was forming on his lips as he looked at Jaehaera's face.

"Daughters, Jaehaera... I have a son with her."

He smirked, knowing the information he just dropped would hurt Jaehaera the most.

So, she just cried silently. Why couldn't she have one nice thing? Alyssa had everything, so why couldn't she?

"I have loved her since the moment I saw her, Jaehaera..."

Maegor took her chin in his hands and leaned in, smiling still.

"You're worthless, you know that? You never did anything I asked you to do."

In that very same moment, what looked like a grey blob descended from the sky.

It was their eldest daughter, Rhaella, on her dragon, Stormsong.

Maegors eyes widened in shock, his grip on Jaehaera's chin weakened. He looked up as he heard the wings of the dragon and saw their daughter Rhaella descending from the sky.

"What in seven hells?!" Maegeor stood up, letting go of his wife's face.

"Goodmorning father." Rhaella smiled at him, her golden locks slowly fell onto her face.

Maegors expression softened a little when he turned to look at Rhaella.

"Good morrow, Rhaella." His tone was completely different, much warmer than when he talked to Jaehaera.

He smiled at the girl, his eyes showing kindness.

"How have you been?" Rhaella smiled yet again.

Maegor's cold exterior melted away the moment he was talking to Rhaella, a father's love could never be denied.

"Oh, you know, nothing much. Just getting a small heart attack while you surprise me by arriving on a dragon."

"Then it's seems I've gotten exactly what I aimed for." Rhaella chuckled.

"Did you plan on giving your old man a heart attack, Rhaella?" Maegor laughed as well, his tone friendly when before it was cold.

"Oh no, gods. I don't want to be queen just yet." She laughed.

"You could never be queen, Rhaella..." Maegor smirked.

"I already have a queen. And she's perfect."

"Oh, who is the lucky lady?" Rhaella chuckled, fully expecting it to be her mothers name.

But that was all in vain..

Maegor looked at Rhaella, he could read his daughter's mind.

"Kathryn is my one true Queen, Rhaella."

Rhaella suddenly grew very quiet. She never got on well with Kathryn, infact she hated her.

Maegor noticed Rhaella's silence.

"...What is it?" He asked her curiously. "Did you not know? I've married her.."

"Oh.. that's.. uhm.. wonderful!" Rhaella gazed over to her mother, whom seemed visibly distraught.

That's when Maegor noticed Jaehaera's face, who had been crying the entire time.

"What is wrong with you, Jaehaera?" Maegeor said it in a stern tone as he looked from Rhaella, back to his wife.

"Nothing." She felt as if the jealousy and bitterness would eat her alive.

"Why are you crying then?" Maegor said it in a less stern tone.

He glanced over briefly at Rhaella, who was watching their conversation with great interest.

"Is it... because I married Kathryn?"

"YES OF COURSE ITS BECAUSE YOU MARRIED KATHRYN, DON'T YOU SEE THROUGH HER AND THAT TREACHEROUS DOG, DORIAN HIGHTOWER?! I TRULY THOUGHT YOU WERE SMART, MAEGOR. BUT I WAS WRONGED." Jaehaera snapped like a twig on the sidewalk.

Maegor was not expecting such a reaction, he quickly lost the smile on his face.

"What do you know about Dorian? Tell me." His tone was sharp and to the point, and he moved closer to Jaehaera.

His eyes were cold, he didn't care about her opinion, she deserved none of his respect after all the insolence she showed him.

"He's a treacherous dog who constantly oversteps his position. He acts like a co-king almost. And don't even get me started on your mistresses and his involvement." She scoffed.

"What involvement?" Maegor moved even closer to his wife, his hands still on her shoulders.

"Tell me everything you know about Dorian." His voice was quiet but sharp, but his eyes were blazing with anger.

He knew what his wife was implying, and he hated it, he never thought he would be hearing this from his wife, of all people.

"Do you think these young girls just appear out of thin air?"

"Are you telling me Dorian is supplying them?"

Maegor was starting to understand what Jaehaera was implying. If what his wife was saying was true, he would have to have words with Dorian. Soon. And it would not be pretty.

"Do you have any proof? Anything at all?"

"Ask him. He'll shamelessly admit to it."

Maegeor sighed.

"Very well. I will."

He looked right at Jaehaera, the eyes she hated so much that gave her such discomfort were now looking at her with a lot of rage.

"I think this meeting is over. Leave. Now."

And so, Maegor went off to find Dorian..

(A/N: I hope you don't mind this long chapter.. it was extremely fun to write for me!)
