Trentaotto ~ Pretty Things
Iris ~
The woman in the next stall looked at her. Her stall door wide open as she gasped at Iris. Her blue eyes cold, and brown hair dull. Her long neck, and plump body made her seem like wither a giraffe, or some sort of pigeon. Neither of which were very flattering to the skin tight, neon green and orange dress she had on.
Iris tried to ignore her eyes, Nico walking behind her. His arms filled with several dresses, skirts, shirts, and things alike.
Nico, noticing the woman's stares, glared at her. "What's up with you? Never seen a boyfriend help his girlfriend shop before?" He spat angrily. The woman gave him a venomous look, then looked back at Iris. Iris saw her, and froze. Her eyes seemed to pierce into Iris's soul, making Iris shudder.
"What do you thi-think?" Iris asked Nico, trying to get over the lady. Nico looked up and down her body twice, grinning.
"You look beautiful." He answered, no doubt in his voice.
Iris smiled softly, looking in the mirror.
The dress itself was beautiful, it had a navy blue color. Fitting her non-existent hips, and hugging her from her flat chest to her upper thighs. Biting her lip, her mind immediately went to her body. How there was no curve, no shape, no chest. Sighing quietly, she ignored it. She ignored the voices in her head taunting her and telling her how her body would never match how she was on the inside.
She shook away those thoughts momentarily, running her hands over the dress's smooth fabric. The dress had white, but some how clear-ish lace on it. Making different swirls and patterns in the dress, the swirls wrapping from the forearm length sleeves, to the bottom.
Although the price tag was glaring at her from the side of her hair, having being pressed down by her hairs weight, she didn't bother to try to hide it. She could cut it off later. The dress sagged a little in the front, but Iris didn't mind. She would just have to wear a tank top underneath.
"I like it." Iris found herself saying, turning to face Nico.
"You look ridiculous!" The woman sneered. "All because this is a public changing room, and both genders are aloud, does not mean you can come out of that stall, in clothes neither meant or made for you, smiling like its the best day of your life! Look at yourself, yo-you freak!" The volume of her voice quickly changed from a pathetic roll-your-eyes tone, to a full on scream of anger.
The last part hurt the most.
Iris blinked back tears, trying to hold herself together as she glanced at Nico. His face was blank, eyes staring at the woman.
The room seemed cold, other people coming out of their stalls to see what was happening.
"How dare you." Nico whispered, everyone was quiet. Iris could see the ground start to shake momentarily, everyone but her seemed to ignore it. "How dare you!" He screamed at her, voice angry, and face gathering red color from his emotions.
"How dare you judge this sweet, amazing teenage girl! She looks like a super model you unimportant piece of pigeon!" He attacked, his eyes following her, even seeming to look through her as his hands started to move. With each word he spoke, there were larger and larger hand motions.
"What makes you think you can even think she's a freak!? What the Hades possesses you to think that she isn't beautiful?! Cause let me tell you, she is much more beautiful that you are! BY at least a thousand!"
A man in a crisp white suite, and a light green dress shirt, came up next to Nico. "He's right!" He exclaimed, causing the lady to have an uproar. Shouting even more harsh words at Iris as Iris finally let some tears fall down her cheek.
Placing a hand on her shoulder, another man looked at her with misty dark eyes. "It's okay, don't let anyone tell you that you are any less than a woman." Iris looked up to him, his thumb rubbing her shoulder for a few seconds, before taking his hand off of her. "I'm Wilfred by the way." He introduced, Iris eyed him. "Iris." She stated, glancing back at the woman.
"I'm sorry for my wife. She's close minded." He apologized, Iris nodded mutely. Wilfred, leaving Iris, put his hand on the woman's arm. "Donna, I think it's time we leave. Get dressed." He ordered, his voice calm.
Donna eyed him, huffing as she stomped into the dressing room she had came out of. Sending one last glare at Iris before closing the door.
Nico then went over to Iris, his arm placed around her shoulders. Forehead to her temple, he whispered in her ear, "You're such a beautiful girl, I don't know how you can be this beautiful. Even when you cry."
Iris gave a small giggle, hugging him. "I love you." She murmured into his neck. "I love you too." Nico breathed.
