MAEVE COOPER WAS WHAT most would consider an ordinary teenage girl. Living in a regular suburban town with her ordinary (dysfunctional) family of five, she went to an ordinary (trashy) high school where she had ordinary (boring) friends and got ordinary (failing) grades. She was okay with where she was in life, but to say she was happy would be an outright lie.

Maeve Cooper craved adventure; a dash of adrenaline with a pinch of action and a hint of danger on the side. Sure, she never expected to get that and more when she moved to the outskirts of La Push, but she wasn't about to complain. And yes, that side of danger may have been more than she bargained for (having ravenous, bloodsucking vampires on the loose wasn't the highlight of Mae's year) but she'd take what she could get.

At the end of the day, her pretty ordinary world had never seen so much excitement.
