It was common knowledge that the annual performances the academy had previously hosted were in different hot spots around their home country, South Korea. This year however, the head directors of the ballet academy had pulled a few strings here and there. It was about time the company could do with some extra publicity so why not perform in Busan where one of the richest families would be living there?
Ah right, a piece of crucial information was missed. The academy had actually gotten that exact family to host the event this year. It was none other than the Jeons.
The family had been working in the entertainment industry for generations and are rather infamous for their hospitality towards uprising ballerinas. It only made sense if they were the ones presenting the whole ordeal. After all, who wouldn't want a good looking family to boost the academy's reputation?
There is a teensy-tiny little problem though. The sole heir of the jeons' company, Jeon Jeongguk, absolutely despises such events. The boy would rather spend his time working on his short films or finishing his left-over school work(business sucks, but he didn't tell you that).
Despite his displeasure, his friend Park Jimin would generally accompany him to yearly galas or parties. His friend's family are actually the current leaders of the fishing industry in their home town, Busan. The family would generally be invited alongside the Jeons and usually provide the caterer. Jeongguk was lucky enough that Jimin had actually agreed to come with him to the event this year. He really didn't want to watch a bunch of ballet dancers move their bodies for hours on end, so having a friend next to him was reassuring.
Jeongguk was currently trying to tie his tie (a tongue twister, I know) but he was miserably failing at the moment. "Ugh for gods sake, will this stupid tie just tie itself already!" He angrily grumbled. The boy only had around 45 minutes to be ready and he had barely even fully buttoned his shirt. He was supposed to be wearing black slacks, a long-sleeved white button up and a plain black blazer with the aforementioned tie. After a few minutes of struggle, he decided to give up. "So much for looking formal this year.." Jeongguk muttered in defeat.
Without much of a second thought, the 20 year old man child hurriedly slid off his clothes and switched them for some others that were up to par with his taste. Yep, a leather jacket, a black t-shirt, black skinny jeans and a belt that accentuated his small waist. His sleeve tattoo was slightly showing and he softly smiled at the nirvana lyrics that were inked on his arm. His family never liked his tattoos, but who cares about what they think. It's his body and his decision about what he does with it. End of.
Hastily, he reached over for his phone and quickly ran to his car. His parents were already waiting for him at the venue since he told them he'd take a bit longer so it was alright if they'd go before him. He used his finger print to open his phone and quickly pressed on Jimin's contact number whilst turning the car in reverse.
One ring, two rings, three rings..
"Hey chim, I'm on my way now! Can you tell eomma and appa to start the performances in half an hour?" Jeongguk exclaimed.
"Sure thing kooks. Drive safely and don't kill your self on the way please," Jimin jokingly said.
"Yeah yeah, whatever," Jeongguk frowned at the mocking words.
He soon arrived at the venue and halted to car to park it properly. Jeongguk jumped out of the car and jogged towards the front of the building to see his parents and friend. He spotted them in just a few seconds as he walked down the hallways and closer to the people he called home. "Hey eomma, appa," he said softly with no intent to startle his parents.
"Oh honey, what took you so long!" His mother, Jeon Soyeon, scolded. "If you hadn't arrived right now, we would've started the event without you"
Jeongguk awkwardly stood there as his mother carried on rambling about his timing. Mean while, he was also under his fathers scrutinising gaze. "Jeongguk, what are you wearing?.." His father, Jeon Jaehyun, asked. The younger knew he didn't mean any harm in asking since he was genuinely curious as to why Jeongguk wasn't wearing a suit but it still made him tense up.
"Uh-" He stuttered. With that, his father just sighed and dismissed his thoughts with a waving hand as a reply.
"It's almost time for the performances. Why don't you go sit down next to Jimin in the theatre," Jaehyun suggested. Jeongguk held two thumbs-up as a way of saying 'yes thank you!' and ran off to find Jimin's seat.
It took a little over 5 minutes but he finally found where his friend was seated and loudly plopped down onto his allocated chair (which by the way, was cushioned). The loud noise must've startled the other boy because Jimin jumped in his seat all while suddenly turned his head around to look at him in one swift movement. "Jesus, what took you so lo-" Jimin was about to ask but squinted his eyes at the boys attire, "..The hell are you wearing Jeon?"
"Well uh you see-" He sheepishly replied. However, he didn't get enough time to talk to Jimin because the directors of the academy stepped forward on the gargantuas stage and tapped on the microphones.
"Hello ladies and gentlemen, it is time we start the performances! We will start with solo stages, couples and then the main event for today. Please enjoy!" The head director announced.
'Oh god, this is going to be a very long day..' Jeongguk sluggishly thought.
