Sorry for almost quitting this!!!!

a/n: I'ma just jump right into this, have fun

Piper POV:

It was a foggy day in Montauk, and far away from the Dracnae-infested forest.

Percy, Will, and I exited the thrift stores with some new clothes because of a teensy weensy explosion burning our stuff.

Montauk is a small, peaceful town, but every time we went to a city I almost always heard them. Rumors.

"Wait, isn't that Tristan Mclean's freak daughter?" I heard someone say.

"And she's with that ex-criminal, Percy Jackson! Honestly, I'm not surprised they hang out." Another said.

"Ugh do you see her expression? She's so privileged and hardly cares about anyone doesn't she?"

"Like, why did that girl steal? She has everything!"

"For more attention, obvi!"

"She's just a trainwreck." My steps became faster and more defiant. "She thinks she's sooo pretty and different with that ridiculous hair." I kept my eyes glued ahead. "She's so fake! I can see it." I resisted speaking a single word. "I'd be sorry for any guy that dates her!" I tried blocking it out, but lost myself in a trance of words and thoughts. "No, she probably just leads them on then switches to a new guy. You know what those rich b****** are like." I couldn't feel Will tapping my shoulder. "She knows nothing of what some people go through! She's too absorbed in herself. Like, she knows nothing about pain."

I broke out of my thoughts to the sound a loud and sharp clap. "Piper!" My vision cleared and I saw the person in front of me to be Will.

"Huh, what?" I shook my head and blinked a few times. "What is it?"

"Are you ok?" He asked.

"Yea- Yeah. I'm good. Uh, where to next?" I shoved the feelings of annoyance, anger, and fight down and smiled again.

Percy jogged up to us. "There's a ferry going with one in between stop leaving in an hour."

"Sounds good." I pulled my new (-ish since it's thrift) jacket on. I looked up to the building we were at. It was a small pastel store with simple windows. Clothes for babies and kids decorated the display windows. Just a kids clothing store.

So why had nausea and unease fill my chest?

. . .

We arrived at the ticket booth for the ferry. I read the pictures on the sign. Oh dear, one small problem, you needed to book a spot a week in advance.

The ferry left in ten minutes.

"Any ideas?" Will asked.

I saw the look Percy shot me and I had a feeling of what we needed to do. Plan C, my least favourite.

I turned to face the demigod, my hands raised for rock paper scissors.

He raised his hands in position as Will watched with a lost expression.

"Out of three," Percy said. I nodded and we began.

On the third round I pulled gun while he did rock. He groaned in response.

"You're doing it today," I stated.

"Doing what??!!!" Will exclaimed. Percy ran a hand through his hair.

"Who is going to get us access," Percy said, annoyance filled his voice.

I led him to the entrance where a young female guard stood, most likely a part time job. Her auburn hair was tight back in a tight bun. She seemed to be just over sixteen years old.

"Why does this plan exist??" Percy complained.

"Because it works. Now go on." I tapped him forwards. Will furrowed his eyebrows but watched.

Random guard lady POV:

The question is, why do they hire people just looking for a weekend job as a guard? I have no clue, I have hardly any skills.

I was thinking about dinner when the most fine person I had every laid my eyes on approached me. His naturally tussled, black hair blew in the wind like a movie. The water reflected in those sea-green eyes. He looked like a dark aesthetic model became a beach guy, and I was very ok with that. I lightly tugged on the collar of my shirt.

When he came closer my legs felt WEAK. He leaned against the door, a calming look in his eyes.

"Hey, there's seemed to be a mistake. We booked quiet a while ago, but there was a glitch...-" He started. His voice sounded like salt water, and that's a good thing.

"No worries!" I cut in. "Are these two with you? I'm sure we have spots just for you!"

Hey, seeing him was a honor.

Piper POV:

I cringed while watching Percy's elbow slip twice when trying to lean against the door.

Don't let her thoughts fool you, this is actually what he said.

"Heyyy, so I think that like a glitch happeneddd? Like we had spots but...-" Percy attempted.

That was what happens when he doesn't even flirt, but just has that effect on most.

She ended up letting us through so a win is a win.
