Chapter Nineteen- CTRL A

'Our championship Rosewood Sharks are running a little behind but they'll be here any minute' Came the announcement. I stood with my sister and Spencer, talking about meeting with this guy that gave his phone number to Ali.

"Where are they?" Spencer wondered

"I told our Mom we'd be at the library so that's covered." Aria told Spencer.

"Good." she nodded. I bit my lip, she wasn't taking the news well that her father had cheated on her mother. The Jason was her brother she seemed to be handling okay but not the former.

"Are you sure you want to do this tonight?" I ask

"Yeah are you kidding? We have to find out what this guy knows about Ali." Spencer replied

"And why his number was in Ali's....Vivian's coat." Aria added

"And we finally got this meeting set so it's gotta be tonight. Erica we're gonna have your back the whole time."

"I know. I just, this is a little daunting with everything that's been going on lately."

"I can always take your place you know." Aria offered "No one would blame you, you are recovering from...." I cut her off

"No, I need to do this, just be ready with pepper spray and other forms of defence, okay." I shuffled slightly

"So our Mom talked to your Mom." Aria stated "I mean it wasn't just one sleepover. It's been a whole week. Mom just wants to know why you're not going home." she sighed

"I just, I can't deal with my family right now." She sighed

"Can we help?" I wondered. Spencer didn't reply because the Sharks arrived and everyone started cheering. I cheered as well as we saw Emily, we made our way over to her. She was talking with Maya.

"Way to go champ." Spencer cheered

"Yay Em!" I laughed. "Hi Maya."

"Hi."

"Em, my mom said that we can have the team party at my house." Hanna told her.

"That's great." The moment was short lived as we saw the police arrive, they made their way past us. Hanna followed them and a few minutes later they left. Hanna came back

"What Happened?" Emily wondered

"Garrett took Caleb's computer. Court Order." Our phones went off and and I pulled it out of my sling, it was a good easy place to put it. Don't judge.

Now it's Caleb's turn -A

"Great the bitch is back."

----------------------

"Do you want the apples, or the pears?" Jason asked me as we were picking up some fruit. I was going to guide him to making a pie using a family recipe. We were doing a little shopping after school.

"Apples." I say.

"Hi, Erica." I saw Maya and smiled.

"Hi Maya." i greeted and saw Jason waiting "Oh, Maya this is Jason Dilaurentis, Jason this is Maya St Germain. The two of you lived in the same house."

"Hi." they shook hands "Nice to finally meet you." Jason nodded

"You too, I was hoping to reach out to you. My family packed some of your sisters things that we found by accident. Would it be okay If I dropped them off?"

"Yeah of course. If I'm not in you can drop it off on the back porch." Jason agreed

"Cool I'll do that. Bye." we said our goodbyes and went back to what we're doing. I picked up and apple and handed it to the grocer. Jason cleared his throat. I looked at him and he was looking at Spencer.

"i've been looking for you. You're office is closed." I went back to picking more fruit

"Yeah I only work a couple hours a day. Getting the place up and running again. Did your father send you?" I paid for the fruit and was was handed the bag.

"You still don't believe it." Jason replied taking the bag off me as I was handed the change.

"I believe it, that's why I haven't talked to him." She replied. "I haven't talked to anyone apart from Erica about this." Jase took my arm in his

"Well you better talk to your Dad about this." he began to lead us away

"No, I'm talking to you!" she snapped at him.

"Jase, talk to her. I have to be somewhere anyway." I left them too it. Later on I was sat in the cafe, drinking some coffee. I was waiting for this guy to show up. I had the Lolita book placed on the table and my friends were in the booth behind me.

"So your Ri, a friend of Vivian's?" I looked up a man in about his late thirties early forties stood in front of me.

"Yes." I placed my cup down.

"You look pretty banged up." he commented as he sat himself across from me

"Are we here to comment on my looks or about Vivian?" I questioned. He smirked

"So how much money does she owe you?" He wondered, okay now I was extremely confused

"Vivian owes you money?" I inquired taking another sip.

"She owes me a lot more than money. She owes me a job and she almost owes me a girlfriend thats to you calling that number."

"You said she cost you a job. Let's start with that, what did she do?" he sighed

"I worked at Allegheny Cellular, Human resources. Your friend came in asking for a job, but she didn't want a job. She wanted information and she said she'd pay for it."

"Hum. What kind of information?" he smirked

"I get it, you're Alison."

"Vivian told you about Alison?" he seemed taken a back by that, figuring out I wasn't her.

"She said she had a friend name Alison who was getting texts from somebody. The number was blocked and she wanted to know where they were coming from. She'd pay to find out." he informed me

"Did you find out?"

"Yeah. I found out. The I made the mistake of telling your pal before I had the money in my hand. She dropped of the map, I got fired for accessing restricted information." he informed me as things became more clearer into the life of my dead friend.

"So, what did you find out about the person sending those texts?" I wondered wanting the rest of the information, a name to the mysterious texts.

"Are you listening? I didn't get paid. I want what she owes me."

"How much does she owe you?" I questioned

"Two thousand." I coughed up my coffee

"Two thousand dollars?"

"That's the price today. But it could go up depending on market conditions." He grabbed a napkin and wrote on it

"Don't ever call that number again. If you want to do business, call me here." he slid it over and got up.

"And who do I ask for when I call?"

"Tell them you want to talk to Jonah." he replied them walked away.  I ordered a slice of pecan pie then I moved tables to sit with the others.

"He think I'm Ali, that means he doesn't know she's dead and if he finds out there won't be enough money of him to talk." I told them

"If this Jonah had real information, Ali might have know who A was. And that's why she was killed." Em replied

"We have to find out what he told her." Spencer states

"What are we supposed to do? Throw a bikini car wash. Even if we talked Prudence Finn into a tube top, we wouldn't raise enough money." My slice of pie came and I thanked the waitress.

"Spencer?" Aria questioned

"My account has been on lockdown since we got arrested." She responded

"So where are we gonna get the money then?" Em questioned. That was the big question that we needed to answer.

------

The next day School went by as normal. Jason came over after and I was teaching him how to make my grandma's famous apple pie.

"No, Jase you got to be gentle, you're to heavy handed." I giggled.

"Sounds like someone's having fun in here." Dad came in

"Jason doesn't know the meaning of gentle, this poor pastry." I laugh

"It's pastry it doesn't have feelings." Jason retorted

"Then it will be on your head when it tastes horrible. What was it Grandma used to say, dad." Ask beam at him, he smiles a little.

"It tastes so sweet, because of the love and gentleness I make it with." he quoted

"Yes, so be gentle. Have you got any plans for tonight?" I asked

"Yes, you?"

"Well I'll be going to sharks party later, show my love for the team." I grin, "and keep an eye on Jason."

"Will you be back by 10, I don't want you over doing it. You're still recovering." I sigh

"Dad I'm fine."

"Would it make you feel any better if I picked her up and stayed with her till you or Ella come home." Jason wonders

"Jase. I'm not a baby."

"In fact that would make me feel better. I don't know how long I'm going to be out."

"Men?" i huff

-----------

Later on I entered the Marin house and the party was in full swing. I found Emily and Hanna.

"Hi!" I gave them a hug "Where's Spencer." they glanced at each other and pulled me to one side.

"Do you remember when we told you how, Spencer and us went to the morgue?" Em questioned

"Yeah, Hanna wouldn't stop complaining about the dead people." I nodded

"Whatever, turns out security camera caught us outside the morgue. Wilden pulled me in and asked me questions."

"Just you?"

"Yeah."

"Ugh, that sleeze, what did you tell him?" I asked. She sighed and folded her arms

"I didn't say anything to him. But I told my Mom we did it as a joke, of course she didn't believe me, I swore that we never took page five. Any of them because apparently there are cops and they're all gone."

"Shit." I shook my head "Well there is nothing we can do now. You never said where Spencer was."

"She left to try and get the money. But she never said where from and she hasn't spoken to us since."

"OK." I'm at the party when Hanna runs over to me.

"Come with me now." She took me upstairs to her room and she the door.

"Please tell me you know how to hack computers." She pleaded.

"No, this is why we have Caleb."

"Well, Caleb is at the police station right now, cooperating with this whole investigation. Unless we figure out how to hack into his hard drive and delete all the files A planted he's screwed."

"OK, well do you at least know his password?" I sat down next to her

"I did."

"Why do you mean you did, Hanna!" I complained

"I'm stressed, I forget when I'm stressed"

"Well de stress and quick. It has to be something smart but important. We're humans and we have a default, but then it's Caleb so...."

"yes. Okay, it's the first initials of every city he's ever lived in. Seattle, Willamette, Salt Lake, Denver, Allentown, Rosewood."

"That all of them?" I ask writing messily with my weak hand

"Yes and he alternated between capital and small letters." I underlined each one

"Reminds me I need to update my password. Any punctuation?" I inquire writing it down first

"Yes, after the last four numbers."

"Four numbers?! Okay what are they?"

"I don't know." she took the paper and tried any way and the attempts were going down before we reached the last attempt.

"Well what else could it be?" I asked

"I don't know but we only have one more try until we're locked out of the system." she stressed

"Just think."

"I am thinking this is me thinking and melting" she twirled her hair nervously.

"you said 11 something 5" I kept repeating the numbers

"That is not helping."

"Is it a code, date, part of a phone number, birthday or anniversary.." something clicked on the last one. She sat down and typed in the password. it loaded and we were in

"Yes! Yes we did it."

"Hanna, what do we do now?" I questioned feeling the stress coming on.

"Oh, right. We find A's file." she opened his folders

"There are so many files and folders." she commented.

"This is what Caleb brian looks like. It's scary and messy." we scrolled through the folders.

"Which one is it. wait Hefty that's gotta be it. That bitch." she clicked open the folder "This is it. Social security numbers, credit card information...."

"student record?"

"How much is on here?"

"Enough to get Caleb out of their way, for a very long time. Delete them." she started to but it wasn't fast enough

"This is taking too long, just control A."

"I'm going as fast as i can." she snapped

"Not fast enough. Control A"

"Erica!" she whined

"On the keyboard. Hit Control A" she had an Oh face and hit the two buttons. we watched as the files started to delete themselves. I let out a sigh of relief .

"I need to lie down in a dark room." my phone buzzed

I'm outside -J

"Jason's here, you owe me chocolate peanuts for this, freaking me out. Han." I tell her

"I will totally do that. Thank you for being here." I left and Jason took me home, even though it was literally across the road.

"I am exhausted. I think I'm just gonna crash."

"I will stay as promised." he kissed my head. I changed and got into bed, we watched a movie but I fell asleep before it finished
