❁Chapter 36❁

Chapter 36

Blue skies painted with the colours of hot burning fire, a sunset loomed over the two coursing through the jungle beneath the blue. Streaks of gold painted a canvas and blue was the background with waves of orange and dashes of pinks and reds and purples all exploding into the masterpiece that was the sunset.

It was a beautiful sight and the young woman stopped her adventure to look up at it, they had been travelling for days and months, years too, really, and sights like the one above was a sight she could always get used to. It was a perfect job for her, to travel far and wide in jungles and forests and foreign lands to her in order to find undiscovered species of plants not yet factual within the information already documented.

She loved her job and loved that the man she called her husband accompanied her on her adventures on occasion. The black hair was messier than usual as it swept in the night's wind, with the black framed glasses he never seemed to grow out of almost falling off of his face as he turned in awe to capture the scenery of everything around them both.

It was a hazy, beautiful sight for the two to share together.

"Ten years," he whispered, voice faint and slightly wavered but she heard it loud and clear, like an echo in her mind and the pride he felt was heard in his tone, "...amazing."

"I think the fact that you haven't screamed at the sight of a tiny lizard is rather amazing," the woman teased, turning to her husband with an amused smile and crinkling eyes filled with delight and love.

"Well that is always amazing, but at least I have my incredibly brave wife to help me out when that time comes," he smirked, using his wand to part the twists of roots and trunks in order to reach her.

"You'll always have me," she smiled, patting his cheek and leaning to kiss him.

She turned on her heel, bringing out the water bottle from the buckle around her ankle and jugging drop after drop of water in order to regain her energy for the trail ahead. Creatures crawled over her as though she was a friend, she posed no real threat and she knew the way to handle the life of the places she went to.

Her husband, on the other hand, creatures scurried out of the way of his large footsteps stomping down on the ground, stumbling around trying not to disrupt anything and even muttering sorry when he saw a few bugs hurry away.

He was always there to cheer his wife on, always there to help her or be there to make sure he could keep an eye on her. She had grown into a fearless young woman, who had no real knowledge of what was too much, the last adventure they travelled together, she almost slipped off the edge of a cliff trying to figure out how it was possible for such a small species of flower to grow within the rocks of the cliffside.

Her husband had her by the ankle and screamed curse words up and down at how unsafe it was.

Her books were a masterpiece, loved by many and even found themselves in the curriculum at Hogwarts for herbology, she was internationally adored as the most fearless adventurer to grace the newly recovered wizarding world from the war they won and defeated the dark lord.

"Bea, be careful, will you?" James asked, hurrying to catch up and turning around a strangely large tree to find her climbing up it, "Bea!"

"Look at this," she whispered, hand trailing over the small flowers that sprouted from the trunk. She had never seen anything like it, flowers of all different kinds, daisies, roses, violets, even singing flowers she couldn't name sprouted from the trunk of the large tree, "...incredible."

"How?"

"I'm not sure," she whispered.

"Maybe you should climb higher, Bea."

"Bea."

"Bea!"

"Bea?!"

"If this isn't important I swear to Merlin-"

"It's time to wake up, love," James laughed softly, his voice deep in the morning time from just waking up and soon was a kiss pressed to her forehead as she groaned and grumbled angrily, "come here."

She shuffled closer to him, wrapping her arm around his stomach whilst he pulled her into him. She had stayed the night in the boy's dormitory after the five of them got into a heated discussion about muggle sweets being better than wizard sweets, and of course, only Bea and Remus could vouch for the muggle side.

"Good dream?" asked James. They were the only two awake and Bea had made specific instructions the night before to wake her if he woke before her because she needed to catch Professor Sprout before class.

"The best dream," she sighed sadly. She had been having multiple dreams about her life, past experiences and memories with James, and the one of her travelling was truly like a dream she wished to come true.

"Tell me about it...please?" he asked, watching with a small smile as she moved her head to stare at him, seeing the smile shining even in the morning, she couldn't help but smile back.

"We were travelling the world. We were in a forest and I was this famous traveller herbologist...person with famous books and so much experience. It was crazy! We were married and you came along with me on adventures and we found this huge tree and it grew flowers out of the trunk and it was mental!" she exclaimed, "and it felt...so - so real! Like I could feel the warmth of the sun, and can still picture the sight of the sunset, and it was beautiful!"

James was smiling from ear to ear just listening to her talking, having her beside him in the morning made the start of the day so much better and he knew he could've laid there all day, "that sounds brilliant Bea," he whispered, lifting up her chin and pressing a kiss to her lips, "so was that just a glimpse into the future then? I'm glad this ring worked, seeing as we were married."

She laughed softly, snuggling closer to him, "It was so perfect, James."

"You do realise, Bea, that that will be you," he smiled, "you're so incredibly talented, so gifted and amazing and you don't realise that you could be anything you want and say what? Ten years from now you are going to be known by everyone and you're gonna create a storm for the wizarding world.

Everyone is going to know your name."

"Oh, Merlin I love you," she whispered. She pushed herself up, pressing one last kiss to his lips before pushing herself out of the bed, "unfortunately for us, I have to work to create that dream come true, so I need to get dressed and go see Sprout."

"Oh, please you have at least five minutes to spare!" James exclaimed, cringing when he heard a groan coming from Peter's bed and throwing a sheepish smile in Bea's direction. She always had spare clothes lying around the boy's room that she brought in case of spontaneous nights to sleep over, so getting an outfit ready for the day ahead wasn't hard.

"I'm actually very busy today," she sighed, "Sprout really wanted to talk to me about a few of my essays and you know...class."

"Who needs that?" James smirked, wiggling his eyebrows, "you only need Herbology and you don't have that today so we could lie in bed all day!"

"James..." Bea trailed off, laughing softly, "you know I can't, I can barely pass classes when I go!"

"That's not true! I know you're looking up in transfigurations because I've been bloody helping you and Lily has offered to help you with Potions. You're alright with Charms but if you need more help, then just ask Remus, and you're brilliant in Care of Magical Creatures! You can skip one day, are you seriously going to go your full school life not skipping one class?" he asked, "come on, Bea, live a little!"

She groaned, squeezing his hand that he had reached out to her with and when she attempted to let go, he pulled her hand to bring her down onto the bed once more, "you deserve a rest."

"You are the worst influence," she grumbled, "you love school and don't lie and say you don't because I have caught you reading transfiguration textbooks!"

"I won't lie," he trailed off, "I like Transfigurations, but that's it. It's like you with Herbology, except less dedicated!"

"Well I know that you're very dedicated to Quidditch so if we are really not going to class then we are doing something productive!" she huffed, "you can practice flying a bit and then I'll help you study for your herbology O.W.L which very soon."

"Don't remind me."

"You're going to do great," she beamed, patting his cheek, "I really do need to see Sprout but I'll come right back."

"Promise?" he asked."

"Promise. I mean, you can always come with me?"

"Alright."

The two set off half an hour later just after everyone started to wake up, Bea was carrying some textbooks she was going to return to the library as well as another essay that she had written for Professor Sprout on the Orchideous jinks.

Sprout had a rather knowing smirk when the two walked into her classroom though she didn't think to say anything about it, and James spent twenty minutes nodding along and laughing quietly as the two talked about plants he couldn't even name again if he was asked to, though it was great for him to see Bea in her element, she was so happy talking about the subject, and standing there as she talked was just amazing to listen to her.

They had to sneak back to the Gryffindor tower after going to the Quidditch pitch for James - and Bea - to fly around, spending almost three hours with James on his broom flying around and Bea zooming after them, both trying to see who was faster.

And as much as Bea didn't like the thought of skipping school, even just spending time alone with James for the full day was enough for it to slip her mind. It was wonderful to just be with him, they didn't need to be romantic all the time for it to be them, he was her best friend as well as the boy she loved and having him in her life was simply lovely.

"Okay, herbology!" Bea beamed as they ended up back in the boy's dormitory.

"You know we could cuddle instead of studying," James smirked, his hand slipping around her waist whilst she scoffed.

"Nice try James. It's a very tempting offer James, I must admit, but our deal was that we don't go to class, but we be productive," she leaned down to kiss him quickly, and soon guided him to sit up.

She pushed herself between his legs, leaning against his chest whilst his head fell onto her shoulder, moving the hair out of the way in order to see, but it was very clear that Herbology was the last thing on his mind when she felt his lips brush against her neck more than once.

"That's not studying," she breathed out, tapping her fingers on the book and trying her best not to seem bothered.

"We can study later," he whispered, pressing kisses to her skin and soon pulling her closer to him to attack her face with quick kisses, "I promise."

"James," she trailed off, whispering empty protests whilst he turned her around.

"Bea, we have been very productive today, please just relax for a bit," her head rested in his hands and he was staring at her very intently.

"But we will study later?" she asked, a frown on her lips which was quickly wiped away when he leaned in to kiss her.

"I promise."

"Oh yeah you're really bloody good at keeping promises," she teased, squealing when he flipped them over so that he was hovering over her.

"Well I promise to love you forever," he whispered, stealing a kiss from her, "and that's a promise I'd never break."
