❁Chapter 3❁

Chapter 3

"I'm so bored I could probably jump off the astronomy tower and have a good time," Bea groaned, throwing her head back whilst Remus couldn't help but laugh from where he sat across from her, spread across the couch decorated in red.

"I think that's a little extreme, Bea," Remus scoffed, watching as she lifted her head to glare at him, furiously shaking no as she done so.

"It's not, really," Bea mumbled, "are we just going to sit here all day?!"

"Well I was planning to," Remus smirked, seeing her annoyance was always highly amusing.

"This dress is too lovely to sit about in!" Bea huffed, pushing herself up before grabbing Remus' hand, "come on, we're going somewhere!"

"Where?"

"On a mission to find fun!" Bea grinned, pulling a reluctant Remus towards the door.

"Woah, Woah, Woah," Bea almost groaned as she turned her head, seeing the three boys known as Remus' friends making their way down the stairs from the boy's dormitory, "where do you think you're going with our moony?!" asked Sirius, watching Bea raise her eyebrow.

"My brother and I are going on an adventure," Bea huffed, "and if any of you were invited it'd be Peter."

"What fancy him or something?" Sirius asked, nudging James who couldn't help but roll his eyes.

"No," she scoffed, "no offence, Peter, but he is the only tolerable one out of you three when you're together," she added, a quick glance at James who managed to catch it.

"Right in the heart," Sirius gasped, clutching at his chest.

"Don't you have some girl to flirt with?" Bea grumbled.

"I'm looking at her."

"I will end your life, Black," she snapped, grabbing Remus' wrist and pulling him out of the common room, irritation running through her when she realised that the boys were following them.

"So, done any pranks lately," Bea asked, trying her best to ignore the three followers trailing behind them, turning to Remus who looked down at her with his eyebrow raised.

"You're interested?"

"Course I am," Bea grinned, "doesn't mean I approve, though, but I like to know what my big brother is up to."

"Well we did prank this one guy, it was a bit random though," Remus shrugged, "funny, though, in your year as well."

"What's his name?" asked Bea, frowning as she done so.

"Anthony," Remus spoke after a few minutes of pondering, "James' idea, wasn't it?!"

Bea couldn't help but turn her head, her eyes catching James who finally nodded, "yeah, it was," James mumbled, shrugging his shoulders but evidently brightening when he saw the small smile wide on Bea's lips.

"Good choice," Bea commented, quickening her pace and gesturing for the four boys to follow her.

"So, you want our company now?" asked Sirius, his eyebrow raised as he threw his arm around her, watching the glare in her eye as she roughly elbowed him, pushing his arm off her and quickly moving so that she was walking next to James instead.

"You are still free to leave," she snapped, "y'know, Sirius, I'd actually tolerate you if you weren't so bloody annoying!"

"How nice," Sirius muttered, "where are we going?"

"Hogsmeade," she replied simply, shrugging, "I need some more jelly slugs."

"You're going to turn into a jelly slug," Remus scoffed, rolling his eyes as he turned to her, eyeing James quickly who had turned to stare at her but soon did Remus' eyes trail to her, seeing the grin on her lips.

"So?" Bea giggled, "that doesn't sound all bad."

"You'd probably turn into a literal bumble bee before you turned into a jelly slug," James piped in, laughing with the boys until he saw her, completely silent but still did she nod her head.

"Yeah, I don't think that would ever happen," she mumbled, scoffing, she pushed herself in front of the boys, feeling the slightly cold air blowing through the dress she wore and with a grin did she grab Remus' hand, pulling him along and down the hill.

"Did you get a letter from dad yet?" asked Remus as he walked beside her, watching as his friends surrounded them.

"Not yet, did you?" she asked, turning to look at him.

"Yes, I uh, got it last week," Remus mumbled, scratching the back of his neck whilst Bea sucked in a breath, nodding all the same.

"Maybe it just got lost or something," she whispered, clasping her hands together before forcing a smile, "anyway, how much chocolate do you have?"

"Why?"

"I want some," Bea said, looking at his cardigan pocket, almost about to grab the chocolate that was bound to be inside before Remus jumped back suddenly, resulting in Bea stumbling forward, and if it weren't for James beside her who grabbed her arm quickly, steadying her balance, then the girl would've been on the ground.

"Sorry, Bea," Remus grinned sheepishly, watching Bea throw him a glare before turning to smile at James.

"So, James," Bea clapped her hands, "how is your progress with Lily Evans?"

"Non-existent," Sirius piped in, squeezing between Remus and Bea and smirking when Bea turned to glare at him.

"That's not going to help him," Bea exclaimed, nudging him roughly, "come on, just have a little faith!"

"You seem really interested in James' love life, Bea," Sirius nudged her teasingly, watching as she rolled her eyes.

"Oh, shove off, Sirius," she glared, "at least he has a love life."

"He really doesn't," Sirius scoffed, "but you could give me one?"

"No thank you," she shook her head, rolling her eyes, "do you not know when to quit?"

"Just ignore him, Bea," Remus sighed, shaking his head with a roll of his eyes, "Padfoot leave her alone!"

"I don't understand these names," Bea exclaimed her arms flailing around as she looked at the four of them, "Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs, it's all so stupid!"

"It is not stupid," Sirius gasped, "It's genius!"

"What like Bumble?" she scoffed, earning a gentle nudge from James.

"Hey!"

"I'm just saying, I get that Moony because of the moon, but-"

"See, baby moony gets it!" Sirius exclaimed, earning a cold glare as she whipped her head around.

"Don't you dare, Sirius Black," she grumbled, "I'd take Bumble over that."

"Bumble it is, then," Sirius smirked.

"Hey, no," James piped in, "that's mine, get your own!"

-

"You left me!" Violet exclaimed as she lay on Bea's bed, a dramatic gasp leaving her lips whilst Bea couldn't help but roll her eyes.

"I was spending time with Remus," Bea laughed, crossing her legs and offering Violet a jelly slug which she smacked away from her.

"Without me?!"

"Oh, shut up, Violet," Bea groaned, "not my brother, that's like me going out with any of his friends and that's wrong!"

"Well you have another date with James tonight," Violet wiggled her eyebrows, earning a groan from Bea who fell back onto her bed.

"It's not a date!" she exclaimed, "Sprout was the one that asked me to do this!"

"Doesn't mean it couldn't be a date," Violet winked, "come on, Bea, he's cute, you're both single, what's the worst that could happen?"

"I barely even know James, Vi, he's Remus' friend, not mine!" she huffed, pushing herself off of her bed and to her trunk where she brought out one of Remus' jumpers that she had stolen.

She quickly changed from the blue dress to the jumper, looking around the room for any trousers before deciding that her tights would have to do, which wasn't all bad, seeing as the knitted jumper fitted her like a dress anyway.

"You do know that's not a dress, right?" Violet asked, her eyebrow raised as she watched Bea nod.

"Of course, I do," she chuckled, "but it fits like one and it's comfortable."

"Whose, is it?" asked Vi, her eyebrow raised as she watched Bea check herself in the mirror.

"Remus', want one? It's crazy comfy!" Bea grinned, rummaging through her trunk before handing an old one to Violet.

"Are you sure you want me around anything to do with Remus?" Violet teased, seeing Bea's eyes narrow as she moved to grab the jumper, but Violet stepped out of reach, "just kidding!"

"Mhmm," she grumbled, packing her things quickly into her bag which she then placed on her shoulder, "please don't trash my room, we don't all have the luxury to an empty dorm!"

"You think too lowly of me," Violet tutted in disappointment, shaking her head.

"Bye," Bea giggled, waving as she exited the room, "love you!"

"Love you too!"

"Please tell me you studied those notes?" Bea asked as she fell onto the chair across from James, watching him look up from the familiar notebook that rested on the desk.

"I did," James grinned, nodding his head as he done so, "I even prepared questions."

"Questions?" she repeated, her eyebrow raised, "on?"

"Well, on things I didn't quite understand that I need you to elaborate on," Bea couldn't help but smile as she nodded, pulling out her notes from her backpack, it was a relief that James was taking this seriously, seeing as it could've gone one of two ways and helping him with herbology could've been the worst idea in the world.

But thankfully, he was actually trying.

"Okay, so what's the first question?" she asked, her chin in her hand as she watched him nod, flipping through the multiple notes until he seemed to come across the one he needed.

"How do you pronounce um," he glanced up at her quickly, watching her gesture for him to continue, "her-herbi-"

"Oh, Herbivicus!" Bea nodded, smiling as she did so, "do you know what it does?"

"It helps plants to bloom," James spoke, as though he had recited it and Bea's grin widened when she noticed he hadn't looked at the notebook.

"What is the light that shines from it?"

"A crackling ball of gre- emerald-green light!" James nodded, correcting himself whilst Bea nodded her head enthusiastically, "bloody hell, Bumble, you've taught me more in a few tutoring sessions than Sprout has in five years."

"Don't blame Sprout," she scoffed, "what are the bets that you just don't pay attention?!"

"Fine, but still," James shrugged, "I now have a great tutor!"

"Oh, you do? Maybe I know them!" Bea replied sarcastically, earning a quiet laugh from James.

"Yeah, looks a bit like you, actually," James commented, both of them laughing loudly, suddenly forgetting that they were in the library.

Which of course leads to them getting kicked out.

"That was so your fault," Bea grumbled, turning to a smirking James whose hands were stuffed in his pockets as he shook his head.

"That was all on you, bumble," he tutted, shaking his head whilst she merely glared at him.

"You were laughing louder," she huffed, "where can we go?!"

"Common room?"

"No, it's always too bloody crowded we'd never get anything done!" she sighed, running a hand through her hair.

"Well, why don't we go to my dorm then?" James laughed, "I'd say yours but that'd be a slight problem."

"Will Sirius be there?" she asked, her eyebrow raised whilst he stared at her curiously.

"No," he trailed off, "well I don't think so."

"Okay, let's go then," she nodded, pulling his arm in the direction of the tower.

"What's wrong with Sirius?" he exclaimed, watching the amused smile attack her lips.

"Sorry, I didn't realise you got protective over your boyfriend," she giggled, "and nothing's wrong with him, I'm just sick of his flirting."

"Oh really? I thought you enjoyed it," James teased, earning yet another glare from her.

"Shove off, James," she chuckled, "or should I say Prongs, what is that about?"

"Just nicknames," he shrugged, his hands in his pockets as he looked away.

"But why prongs?" she laughed, she knew of course that it had to do with his animagus, but she hadn't the faintest idea what his animagus was.

"Why not?" he smirked, turning to look at the look she was giving him.

He recited the password to the common room when they arrived, slightly relieved that she had dropped the subject and finally did they enter the tower.

"You're back early," a voice commented from the couch, and the two looked up to see Violet with one of her other friends, a smirk capturing her lips whilst Bea couldn't help but roll her eyes.

"Someone got us kicked out of the library," Bea huffed, nudging to James whose eyes widened in disbelief.

"Yes, that someone being you!" he exclaimed, turning to face her and watching her lips twitch as she tried her best to hide her amusement.

"So, we're going to study in James' dorm," Bea shrugged.

"Use protection!" Violet called with a smirk as Bea and James took off towards the stairs.

"I wish your parents did!" Bea shrieked back, turning to glare at Violet who couldn't keep her laugh in.
