❁Chapter 27❁

Chapter 27

"You're going to do great, you always do!" Bea reassured, patting James' shoulder as she sat next to him at the Gryffindor table, though he looked entirely unconvinced. He had managed to get it into his head that the Gryffindor's were going to lose to the Ravenclaw's in today's game and no matter how many anyone told him differently, he didn't seem to listen, "and no matter how you do, if you win or lose, you will still be a winner to me."

"Here we go," Sirius groaned, his head falling onto an amused looking Remus. As the taller boy learned to accept that talking to his sister about boys and their relationships was much better than getting defensive and protective, he was seeing how amusing it was that Bea was so head over heels, especially when James was the exact same.

It was easy to tease the two rather than to hate them together and Remus had made it his job in the last three weeks to tease the two of them with Peter, Sirius and Violet too. Violet and Remus where closer than they possibly where before, appreciating each other's company much more when they didn't have to pretend to be something they weren't.

Remus, though, felt terrible to accept James and Bea whilst knowing of Violet's love for the girl, but Violet made sure to remind him countlessly that she was okay and regardless of her feelings for Bea, she was happy, perfectly happy.

"Vi, you know how that girl Rosa," Bea suddenly spoke, reaching for James' hand and turning to her best friend who she was partially leaning on, "the one with the blonde hair?"

"Oh yeah. Slytherin?"

"That's the one! Well I was talking to her coming out of charms a few days ago and I think she likes you," Bea wiggled her eyebrows, "course I know you're still getting over your completely tragic and heart-breaking breakup, but I mean, she's a catch!"

"Are you my wing woman, Bea?" Violet giggled as she turned to the Hufflepuff.

"I could be, and I would make a great wing woman!" Bea exclaimed, "course you don't need anyone if you don't want, I know you like to have fun, though."

"I do." Violet agreed, "I'm just not sure if that's the type of fun I want to have right now."

"You know what's fun?" Bea grinned, "reading!"

"Oh merlin," Sirius whispered, shaking his head as he pinched the bridge of his nose, "I swear me and Violet are the only sane ones here! Peter think's pigging out on Honeydukes and playing chess on a Friday, a Friday, is the funnest thing. James could play quidditch for days if he wanted to, little and big Lupin just love to read! And then there's me and Vi who are the only bloody normal ones here!"

"Define normal?" Bea glared, "reading is really fun, and Vi loves to read too so your argument is invalid, Black. Maybe Remus will teach you about the wondrous ways of reading."

"Oh, and you can't?"

"Excuse me, Sirius Black, but I am a happily taken girl!" Bea exclaimed, over dramatically throwing her arms around James beside her who was too busy worrying about the game to listen to the five's conversation.

"Wha-" the boy cut himself off, slowly wrapping his arm around an amused looking Bea whilst the rest of their friends started to bicker about what fun really was.

"You're going to do amazing, James," she whispered, resting her hand on his cheek whilst he merely sighed, unsure if her words where true or not, "I can't convince you but I can promise you that as much as I'm not the most educated quidditch fan I know a good player when I see one, and merlin you're an excellent player! You could outplay everyone on all teams combined. No- you could take on an entire team by yourself and still come out the winner cause you're brilliant.

And I know you want to win, and I know it's important to you to win but you don't need to prove to anyone of your ability. If you win then you win and if you don't then you try to improve for next time but being nervous about it won't help anything."

"It's the first game since we got back," he mumbled with a frown, his head resting on hers, "I don't think I've practiced enough."

"Are you kidding?!" she exclaimed, "James how many times have we almost been caught out after hours just so you could fly?"

"...A few," he trailed off, seeing her eyebrow raised, he finally spoke, "alright more than a few, bumble, but that doesn't show me if Gryffindor is going to win or not."

"You know if I could make sure you won then I would, babe," she giggled, pushing herself up to press a kiss to the corner of his lips, "but regardless of that, like I said, you are still and always will be a winner to me."

"Thank you, Bumble," he smiled softly, nuzzling his head into her own and pressing a kiss to her nose, "you know you are bloody great motivation. You will be cheering me on, right?"

"Of course, I will!" she nodded enthusiastically, "it could just be you flying about the pitch for five hours and I'd still be cheering you on."

James smiled as he cupped her cheek, not exactly caring about PDA as he pressed his lips to her own. She had a way of easing his nerves even when he thought the task would be impossible and most of the time he always seemed to wonder just how lucky he was.

"Alright. I'll see you at the game where I'll be cheering you on," she giggled, "I need to go find Bertie, though because he has my book and I don't think he wants to give it back, but he has too! it's a limited edition of one of my favourites and he's not getting away with it!"

James laughed as he pulled her down for one last kiss, "see you later, Bumble."

"Bye!" she grinned, patting Violet's hair as she passed by and almost stumbling when she swung her bag over her shoulder.

-

The nerves in James' stomach where growing with each passing second that he spent in the air. He had managed to miss two goals though it wasn't his fault seeing as he wasn't paying much attention. He wasn't sure if he should feel angry or hurt that the quidditch stalls where filled with his friends but very evidently missing his girlfriend.

He wondered what could've possibly been more important to her seeing as her words from breakfast previously seemed to make it positive that she would be there. Though he wondered where.

He swung by the goal, hurling the Quaffle at the keeper who swayed on her broom, sending a glare in James' direction when the crowd cheered at the Quaffle finally making it into the hoop. He felt a surge of victory for once in the entire game but he didn't have his girlfriend there to cheer him on, he didn't hear her voice with his friends.

But what he did hear was buzzing.

Buzzing very close to him.

And then he felt the softest tickle as though a slight fuzz was brushing against his neck. He was so close to slapping his neck when the realization clicked inside of him, and a wide grin made its way onto his face.

The small bee fluttered right beside him, spinning around him buzzing happily that he finally caught on to the fact that Bea was there with him, right beside him cheering him on in her own special way. Buzzing in his ear so that regardless of the loud voices of the crowd around them, he would hear her the loudest.

He was too caught up in his amusement that he almost fell off his broom curtsey of one of the Ravenclaw chasers. He gripped tightly, swinging from side to side and swooping down to reach for a Quaffle.

He was doing much better knowing that Bea was actually there with him, but before he could even question why he couldn't hear the faint buzzing clearly, the loud yelp of the chaser that had bumped into him caught his attention.

The boy was gripping his neck in pain at the sting that seemed to distract him from the game, cursing the small insect up and down as she buzzed back to James' side, knowing full well that she would smirking if she could be and even James was trying his best to keep himself together.

She was getting much too tired fluttering next to him, knowing that she would be in a lot of pain if she kept herself in the air for too long, even in her animagus she was still human and doing too much exercise that she shouldn't, like flying, wasn't exactly good for her.

She rested on James' shoulder, tucked under the fabric of his uniform whilst he flew around furiously, shooting goal after goal and confidently dodging chasers and other players who was trying to dampen his skills.

The buzzing in his ear was soothing to him, just like it was when they would go out with Remus it was lovely to know that it was Bea and that she was there with him. He loved it and he was still very amused with the fact that she was there with him, that she had thought to transform for him, he knew that if she had so much faith in his abilities then he should too.

Bea wasn't surprised when the Gryffindor's won, she knew that whoever one deserved it regardless but she couldn't deny that she was ecstatic to see the bright grin on James' features.

She transformed as quickly as she could, out of sight from everyone still cheering wildly and before anyone could stop her she had already ran onto the pitch with many other celebrators, making her way to James, she pounced on him as soon as he came into view, cheering and congratulating him loudly whilst he laughed.

"What did I tell you?!" she laughed loudly, her arms locked around his neck whilst he pulled her closer, kissing every inch of her face whilst her giggles filled the pitch.

"I thought you weren't here," he whispered, still trying his best to pull her closer but it wasn't exactly possible, "I thought something else had come up or something more important-"

"Hey," she held his face in between her hands, staring at him right in the eye whilst he clung to her, "if you are playing quidditch and I'm not there then you can assume that I'm bloody dead because I would never miss a game when you're playing. This is so important to you, you love it so bloody much and just for that I will always be here to cheer you on!"

"I am so fucking in love with you," he whispered, seeing her eyes widen and her lips part in shock and not a moment later had she pulled him into her, her hand on the back of his head tangled in his hair and her lips moving in sync with his, "I don't know how it's possible that just at the start of the school year was when I finally got to know you properly and now only a few months later I can say confidently that I'm in love with you, but it's true. Who cares if we're young, you're the love I know, you're the love I want and the fact that I have you makes me a winner any day."

She was smiling brightly, kissing him in between breaths and giggling with him as they stood among the Gryffindor team celebrating them around them, and with one last kiss to his lips, Bea whispered, "I am so in love with you too, James, forever and ever."
