---- she's adopted by the Roy family at the age of seventeen. Two months before she attends Welton

---- Neil becomes her tutor in poetry

---- she got the nickname 'chess girl' from Neil and basically everyone else because she doesn't tell her name to anyone except Mr. Keating, the new English teacher
