What is a Human greatest enemy? Some would say nature, others still say technology. Really it's neither... no, in fact, the greatest enemy of a man; is, in fact, a man.

(This outfit is what she is wearing)
Slipping the small notebook that she recorded her life into her jeans pocket, she nearly jumped up and down like a giddy little girl from excitement. Glancing at her bedside clock, she saw that it's almost time for her to meet her friend. Rushing to get ready she threw a nice shirt and jacket on. She found herself smiling while she braided her curly brunette hair. Once done, she almost fell down the stairs as she tugged on her shoes. Grabbing the door the girl stopped in her tracks as she cautiously made her way into the living room. A small frown found itself on her face as she saw her father once again, drunk, sitting on his chair watching tv. The girl took a deep breath, almost too afraid to breathe. Slowly she made her way past her father to her parent's bedroom, where her mother lay sick. Quietly she opened the door, once inside she instantly goes to her mother's side. "Hey mom, " she softly greeted as if she raised her voice her mother would break like thin, delicate glass.
"Hey, sweety, " she croaked out with a gentle smile plastered upon her face. The girl's mother gripped her hand softly in her own withered one.
Smiling meekly she gently squeezed the other woman's hand. " I just wanted to say bye before I left to go watch fireworks with my friends." All the girl could do was hold back tears as she saw the woman's failing form lay in front of her.
"Alright, sweety, happy birthday. Stay safe, okay?" she softly breathed harder from the exertion.
Voice cracking from sadness she simply replied, "I will mom. I love you, see ya in a bit." She then let go of her mom's hand and nearly ran out of the room so her mom wouldn't see her forming tears. She ran past her father not caring what would happen when she got home because of it. Once she was out of the house she ran to the park she was to meet her friend, shaking off her sadness. Soon she saw her friend on her phone on a nearby bench. "Hey! Sorry, I'm late!"
"Hey, Amelia! What's up!" Amelia's friend, Amanda, greeted as she looked around nervously; as if looking for someone, or making sure someone else wasn't. Her leg jumped up and down and her smile seemed strained, and her eyes were dark.
"Nothing much, you?" Amelia inquires. She smiled at her friend filled with excitement, oblivious to the small changes in her friend.
Unfortunately for the girl, she was too excited to notice her friend's odd behavior.
