Chapter One
Yoongi's POV
I pursed my lips into a thin line and stared up at the building in front of me. I shook my head and laughed a dreadful laugh. The building was white and it had Christmas lights on the outside of it. There was a Christmas tree on the outside of it and it had purple ornaments.
I looked at the sign above the door and squinted. It said 'Jin's Restaurant' and it was a pastel pink color, covered with the lights.
You have got to be kidding me..
I sighed and walked up to the pastel yellow door and opened it, making a bell go off.
"Hi, Welcome to J- Wait, do I know you?" I heard once I walked in. I finally took my eyes off of the decorations everywhere and I looked at the man speaking to me. I squinted at the person and tilted my head. They know me?
The guy looked very familiar and I couldn't quite see him because he had a mask on his face and a hat covering his head. He saw how I was looking at him and he came to stand next to me with a happy aura.
"It's me, Taehyung." He said brightly.
My eyes widened at the name and I double checked him. He started taking off his hat and mask so I could see him clearer. Sure enough, it was him. Kim Taehyung from high school.
"Holy hell, it's been forever since I've seen you." I said in shock. Me and Tae used to be close to one another through mutuals.
We were in the same friend group and we were introduced to each other by Seokjin. Soon after, we became pretty good friends.
The three of us were inseparable.
"Are you here to see Jin?" Taehyung put his arm around my shoulder and smiled. I nodded my head and my lips curved upward.
"Yeah, he actually told me he had an opening so I came to check it out." I shrugged. "I've been struggling with money lately. I'm surprised I'm not homeless yet." I chuckled.
Tae grinned at me and led me to the counter. "Well our roommate actually just moved out, maybe once you meet Jimin, he'll consider letting you stay with us." He smiled.
My eyes widened and my shock was more intense than ever. I hadn't seen Taehyung in months- maybe a year, and he's already offering me a place to stay if I need it..?
I always remembered him as the type of person to be so nice, though. He would cheer someone up in a heartbeat- whether it be his closest friend to a person he never met.
"Who?" I asked, referring to 'Jimin'.
Tae shook his head and opened the door to the back of the restaurant. "Park Jimin. He's my friend, and I'm sure he'll like you." He smiled just as Seokjin walked up to us.
"Yoongi!" Jin said excitedly. He wrapped his arms around me and then squeezed the life out. "Oh my god, it's like old times having the three of us here! It's been since graduation!"
I smiled as Taehyung joined the hug and I felt at home. They were the only people that I had ever opened up to, and it's been forever since I've talked to either of them.
A sudden smell of something burning went up my nostrils and I furrowed my eyebrows as they both pulled away from the hug. Jin looked back at one of the workers with wide eyes.
"Baby, I told you I was going to cook the steak!" Jin ran up to the man and started waving the little bit of smoke away.
The man frowned and his shoulder dropped dramatically. "You left it over here and it started burning. I didn't burn it, you did." He pouted as Jin poked his lips out.
"I'm sorry, it's been a long time since I've been with my friend." Jin said as he took the steak and threw it in the trash. "Meet Yoongi."
I stood there awkwardly as Jin pointed at me. The guy smiled at me, showing his dimples. "Hello Yoongi, I'm Namjoon. I've actually heard about you I think." He said.
Taehyung rushed up next to me and bounced. "Namjoon is Jin's boyfriend." He said eagerly.
"Tae! I told you to stop telling everyone my business, you brat!" Jin scoffed at him. Tae merely shrugged and started putting his hat back on as I stood there alone. "Anyways, I'll just get you started Yoongi. Do you mind working with others?" Jin asked me.
I looked around and only saw two other workers. They both had dark brown hair and had smiled on their faces. The two boys looked nice, so I just shrugged. "I don't mind."
Jin smiled and directed me over to both of the boys who were working fast and talking to each other. They both stopped once Jin walked up.
"Hey, Jinnie." One boy said as he gave a receipt to a customer. He put the change in the register and turned around. "And.. person."
I smiled awkwardly as Jin rolled his eyes. "Jungkook, this is Yoongi. I need you and Hoseok to teach him the basics of this place." Jin said. He turned around and smiled at me. "Oh yeah- when Jimin gets back, tell him to teach Yoongi the waiter role." He said.
I wanted to groan at the thought of being a waiter, but I saved it because I knew that Jin wouldn't hesitate to smack my head.
"Be nice to Yoongi, but not too nice." Jin laughed lightly. "If you know what I mean."
Jungkook's face turned red once he glanced at me and he looked behind me. I turned to see what he was looking at and saw a person.
"But he's cute though," the person pouted slightly. "Why can't we have fun?" He asked.
I furrowed my eyebrows and turned to him. I took a step back and looked at him, observing him. He had brown hair like Jungkook, and his eyes were brown as well. He was smiling down at me, which caused me to look at him weirdly as I observed him.
"Fun?" I repeated after him. "I don't know what type of fun you're implying, but-"
"He's just joking," Jungkook finally muttered as he backed the guy away from me. "This is Hoseok, he will teach you about making the food. I'll show you how to work the register and when Jimin gets back, he'll show you how to do all the waiter duties. Got it?" He asked.
He spat out random names and jobs, so I just nodded my head to agree. I wasn't sure which job Jin wanted me to do, but I guess they just take turns here. I still dreaded being a waiter or working at the register to be nice to people.
It's very hard to be nice to people who you don't even know. For all I know, they could be a serial killer or anything.
So why am I obliged to be nice to them?
——
After a long day of listening to Jungkook and Hoseok ramble on about how to do things the "correct way," I was tired and I had a headache.
Jin would occasionally walk by and hit their arms, telling them to teach me instead of arguing about which utensil goes where. Taehyung came by a few times to ask me how everything was going and we went on break together. He had even bought me lunch.
We told the Namjoon guy to make us a big juicy hamburger or else we'd go to the website and leave a one star review on his work.
That's how I ended up stuffing my face with a pretty damn good hamburger and fries.
I sighed as I walked into my apartment. It was dirty on the outside of the building and on the inside. There were only stairs to get up to my floor, and the stairs were wore out and old.
The elevator that used to be there was broken, so they took it out and was supposed to get another to replace it, but they never did.
My apartment was really small. My kitchen and living room were in one room, only separated by a half wall. My bathroom occasionally needs work done to it because my plumbing is apparently not good, and my bedroom is a decent size. But the only bed I could afford was a little twin sized one and my neck hurts every single morning from it.
Needless to say, I'm really trying to move.
I would've went to college if my family and I weren't so broken that we could barely afford noodles, and the only reason that I even got a job was because Jin is an old friend.
Every other place I went to declined me because they would piss me off the moment I met them, so I was rude to them.
Whoops..?
I mean- they were willing to give me a job that other men do for a lot of money, but they were going to pay me a lot less than them.
When I finally got the job at Jin's restaurant, he offered me much more than they did and I already liked him because he was a friend, so I finally hit jackpot on that deal.
But it was nothing that I had expected.
-
The next day, I woke up from my bed and slammed my hand into the alarm on my phone. I groaned as I got ready for another day at work. Hopefully this time, the famous "Jimin" will help me besides give me a headache like the other two had done.
I slumped as I walked to the restaurant, not even minding to fix my long black hair or take it away from my eyes. I knew that Jin would probably scold me for not bringing a hat, but I know he'll give me an ugly hairnet anyways.
I opened the door and walked into the restaurant. I was greeted by Taehyung once again, his smile annoyingly making me actually enjoy being here this early in the morning.
When he wrapped his arm around me and dragged me to the back, I wasn't paying attention to anything he was saying.
The only thing that I was paying attention to was the boy serving a warm breakfast to the couple in the middle of the restaurant.
His hair was blonde and shiny and he was about my height- or close to it at least. His smile was so bright that the light reflected off it it. His eyes were squinted up as he giggled to the customers and they smiled back.
Who wouldn't?
His smile was one to make others smile back anyways. And his face was perfectly shaped.. He was a pretty boy.. Beautiful, in my opinion.
Holy hell, is that the guy I had been hearing about all this time? That's Park Jimin?
