16 - We Will Always Be On The Same Side.

'I want Jungkook to be my partner.'

Multiple reactions to that simple statement could be heard from everywhere. Jimin opened his mouth, and kept it open for a few seconds, before closing it again. Hoseok snorted, but managed to pass it off as a cough.

"Mr Jeon? But-" Soobin looked back and forth at the two with little confused eyes. "Are you sure, Mr Kim? Wouldn't it be better to pair up with someone you know well? Maybe Mr Park?"

Taehyung gave a soft laugh at that. "Yes, it would be good to pair up with a well acquainted person. But this game is more about understanding the style."

"Style?"

"Yep. When Jungkook was having his turn, I realised that his style is almost the same as mine. So, in theory, I should be able to guess how his mind works."

It was evident that both Soobin and Yeonjun were still skeptical about it but the proposal regarding the free Jet ski rides seemed too good to pass.

"Oh.. I suppose we will see, Mr Kim. Good luck."

Everyone was excited for the rematch. And as expected, the current winners did a wonderful job. They managed to get 14 correct answers within the 2 minutes timeline.

When Jungkook stood up to take his turn, Taehyung gave a reassuring nod, and the former had to put some effort to stop himself from rolling his eyes. Of course they got this. It'll be a piece of cake for them. The difficult part may be to not look overly successful to the point of suspicion.

Taehyung sat on the chair facing Jungkook while Soobin stood behind him with the boards.

"Ready when you are, Mr Jeon."

Jungkook took a deep breath and gave a confident nod.

At the sound of Yeonjun's excited 'start!', Soobin revealed the first name.

Jungkook made a gesture of a short distance with his thumb and forefinger, and then touched his hair with both hands.

"IT!!"

Jungkook held up 3 fingers, making Taehyung quickly respond. "Okay, 3 words."

Then Jungkook knelt on the sand on one leg and pretended to sing.

"The wedding singer!!"

Jungkook squatted and held both of his hands over his face in a cylinder shape. Taehyung raised his eyebrows a bit in a questioning manner. Jungkook thought for a mere second before getting up and cheered silently with both his hands stretched towards the sky.

Taehyung chuckled. "King Rob. I mean, The Minions."

Jungkook gave a relieved smile for a second before focusing on the next one.

Jungkook held something in front of his face and pretended like he's reading something, all the while slowly swirling with sort of an airy grace. It took less than one second for Taehyung to guess.

"Beauty and the beast!!

The next board made Jungkook let out a snort. He chuckled a bit before making a show of slow dancing, and switching to silently howling in the next second. He looked like a proper goofball and everyone had to let out giggles or chuckles. Taehyung was no exception.

"Not the way one might describe that movie but it's Dancing with wolves."

Soobin turned the other board but the timer in Yeonjun's hand went off, confirming that the two minutes were over. He looked at Soobin with a questioning gaze as the latter seemed to have his mouth slightly parted with shock after counting the boards on the successful attempts side.

"S-seventeen."

Yeonjun blinked in confusion. "I'm sorry, I must have heard incorrectly. Can you tell the count again?"

"Uhh..." Soobin recounted the boards before looking back at Yeonjun. "Seventeen. Mr Kim had successfully guessed seventeen movie titles."

The whole crowd erupted into loud cheers, with many people trying to congratulate Jungkook and Taehyung. Jimin was screaming like a maniac. Hoseok had a little more poise but he was still as loud as others.

And Jungkook.. he just gave a smiling nod, and Taehyung responded with a slight chuckle of his own.

To be on the same side, publicly, regardless of how small or insignificant the circumstances are, has been something neither of them had ever thought possible in the foreseeable future.

It was definitely a pleasurable moment.

Taehyung was talking with the two organisers when Yoongi and Jimin walked to them.

"That was amazing, Tae." Yoongi said as he extended his hand for a shake. "I honestly didn't think it'd work. Well done."

Taehyung gave a soft chuckle. "Thanks, hyung."

"It was unbelievable! Too bad that we didn't get to have our free jet ski rides though." Soobin said in a whining voice and Yeonjun nodded his head with a pout too.

A sound of a very familiar giggle reached Taehyung's ears and he instinctively looked in that direction. With his head thrown back, eyes twinkling, Jungkook was laughing at something Hoseok was saying.

"You know what," Taehyung looked back at the two organisers. "I'll pay for them anyway."

When Soobin announced it with a screaming voice, Jungkook couldn't help but feel proud of his boyfriend. He watched with a small smile as Taehyung accepted people's thanks and their finger hearts.

The barbecue that followed was a huge success. Yeonjun and Soobin had already made arrangements to have people man the grills and so the group only had to sit around the bonfire and enjoy the night.

Jungkook and Hoseok were sitting on the sand near the bonfire, when Taehyung sat on Hoseok's other side.

"Hey.." Taehyung said in a greeting as he gave the 2nd beer bottle in his hand to Hoseok.

"Uhhh.." Hoseok looked confused for a second. "Is it.. uhhh.. do you want me to pass it to Jungkook?"

Hoseok had already extended his hand towards Jungkook but the latter just gave a soft smile and shook his head.

"He doesn't like this brand. It's for you."

"Oh-" Hoseok let out a nervous chuckle. "Thanks."

All three of them sat silently, watching the laughter and merry chatter. The food was great, the night was neither too hot nor too chilly. The weather was perfect for a night out in the open.

"Mr Jeon!" Jungkook snapped his head at that sound to see Soobin calling him across the bonfire.

"Yeah?"

"I've been meaning to ask. When you had the movie Behind the enemy lines to show, what was that move you did?"

"Uhh.. something from the movie?" Jungkook squinted his eyes as he tried to remember what he did.

"I've watched that movie many times but I don't remember any scene like that. You sort of hit your head and moved it in a circular motion."

'Oh..' Jungkook instinctively glanced at Taehyung, who seemed to be drinking his beer with a nonchalant aura.

Of course Soobin hasn't seen that part in the movie, because it is not in the movie. It was an inside joke, something that had happened at one of Jungkook's and Taehyung's movie dates.

"And Mr Kim guessed it in two seconds too!"

Taehyung looked up from his beer can and gave a shrug to the other. "Just said the first thing that came to my mind."

"How is that even possible-"

"It's in the movie." Hoseok cut right across Soobin's words. "I don't remember where exactly, but it's there."

"But-"

"Now now-" Yoongi raised his voice this time. "Why are you pestering them about something that's already done? Let's just enjoy the night. Soobin-ah, any chance of getting some upbeat music here?"

That request effectively drove all other thoughts out of the two organisers' minds, as they scrambled to make the necessary arrangements.

Soon, the beach was filled with fast paced music, which was ideal for dancing and burning all the extra calories obtained through the barbecue.

People immediately started to get up from the sand and dance, especially the younger crowd. Jimin was one of the starting crowd, and his moves were phenomenal. Good enough to be an idol himself. After staring with an open mouth for a few seconds, Hoseok joined him too.

Two of them combined held all the attention from everyone present there so no one really saw when Taehyung slowly moved closer to Jungkook. The idol was also looking at Hoseok with a fond gaze so he didn't notice their close proximity until his shoulder slightly brushed with Taehyung's.

"Hey.." Taehyung turned his head slightly towards the other and whispered directly into Jungkook's ear.

Jungkook pressed his lips into a thin line to stop the bashful smile. "Careful."

"No one's looking at us, Koo." Taehyung held his beer can in front of his mouth to prevent others from seeing his lips move. "They're all busy looking at those two."

And sure enough, no one was paying any attention to them.

After another few seconds of silence, Jungkook spoke up. "Do you think we overdid it?"

"Possibly." Taehyung turned to give a smirk to the other. "But I think we pulled it off."

"Hmm.. it felt good to be on your team."

"Baby, we will always be on the same side."

"Yeah." Jungkook gave a little smile in return. "I had lots of fun."

They watched as the crowd collectively lost their heads when Hoseok and Jimin danced together for a popular dance act by two male idols and no one was able to take their eyes off of them.

Later that night, when everyone was nicely tucked in the warmth of their own comfortable beds, Taehyung spoke up.

"Thank you, Hoseok."

Hoseok didn't answer for a few seconds and Taehyung was beginning to wonder whether the other was already asleep.

"I'm glad Kookie got to have fun." Hoseok's voice was heavy with sleep. "You both deserve a break from all of this."

"I don't know whether I had a chance to convey this before but I really appreciate you looking out for him. You were there with him from the beginning and it makes me much less worried about the ugly parts of his glamorous life with you by his side. Thank you, Hoseok."

Hoseok coughed in an attempt to hide his flustered state. It's not everyday you get such a sincere appreciation by the nation's heartthrob.

"Uhh... y-you're welcome."

"Good night, Hoseok."

"Good night, Taehyung."
