Pressure
Dancing High had been an opportunity that excited Jisung.
A competition for dancers with many different styles, with a lot of them being around his age?
He had been thrilled to participate.
When he told his members about it they were very happy for him, they also thought it would be a good opportunity to show off his dancing and good publicity.
Of course, he couldn’t help but feel nervous when the news that he was going to participate in the show surfaced, but because of his members’ encouragement, he calmed down his excitement just a little.
When the day of the filming came, he almost thought his nerves would explode right then and there, especially when he saw the number of people that were already in the studio.
Trying hard not to succumb to his nervousness, Jisung sat down on a vacant seat and awaited the start of the show.
Because the MC knew him, Jisung was thrown off guard by a few questions directed at him not long after, however, as long as that specific moment felt to him, in reality it was over rather quickly.
It wasn’t long until the performances started, he was astonished by how well everyone portrayed their styles and how different and unique every performance was.
Jisung didn’t know how much time passed, then it was suddenly his turn.
Everything went so fast, he didn’t have much time to get lost in his nervousness, then he was already on the stage.
He felt everyone’s eyes on him whilst he took a deep breath before the music started.
Once the track had begun playing, Jisung fell into his routine, step after step, move after move, he became one with the stage.
Forgetting about the eyes on him, Jisung danced like he always did, full of passion and without any remorse, without any regrets.
Then suddenly it was over, the music stopped, Jisung stilling in his last, final pose.
With the sound of clapping, Jisung returned to the here and now, the here and now where he felt glaring eyes thrown upon him by the other participants.
The judges were pleased by his performance and the other participants gave him a decently high score as well, but he wasn’t able to ignore the stares he felt now and then.
After that, Jisung was happy to say that he got a pretty high overall score and got to choose the team he wanted to be a part of.
When he went home after the filming he delivered the good news to his hyungs, who praised him and let him choose what he wanted to eat.
The weeks went on and Jisungs’ Team, Team Hoya, delivered one spectacular performance after the other.
Jisung felt a bit sorry in regards to his team, as he often either couldn’t join them in practice or arrived really late, because of his schedule as an idol.
Every time he brought it up, the others told him it was okay and that he didn’t have to worry about it, but Jisung couldn’t help but think they said other things when he wasn’t around, he also felt their gazes on him when they thought he wasn’t looking.
When the finals of the show came near, Jisung grew increasingly nervous, worried that he would mess up, seeing that he was also performing a solo rendition of one of their groups’ songs ‘The 7th Sense’.
His members reassured him that he would do well, and through them, he gained confidence.
The final filming of Dancing High passed by in a flash after Jisung was done with all his performances, he thought he had done alright, but it could’ve been better.
He was just hoping for the best.
When the final rankings were announced, Jisung was a bit down.
Had he not done well enough?
Should he have practiced more?
Was it too late to say sorry to Team Hoya, who had trusted him enough to grant him a solo performance?
Jisung felt defeated when he left the venue afterward.
Before he could step into the car his agency had provided for him to get back to the dorms with, he was stopped by the other members of his team, excluding their coach.
Jisung already knew what they were going to say so he let it rain down on him, it was his fault, he deserved that.
The others told him that it was his fault.
That he should have practiced more.
That he could have done better if he tried.
That they could’ve won if it hadn’t been for him.
And Jisung agreed.
Jisung knew.
