Chapter 60 - The Grand Exit
Four days after Jang Mi had woken up, she was due to be released from the hospital. Since the early mornings of this day, reporters were crowding outside after hearing her release date. Containing the hospital staff's mouth to keep Jang Mi's release date on the down low was like Jang Mi putting her trust back into her mom, both were never going to happen. Which was why they expected this much. An idol was shot, they all knew that Jang Mi was going to get bombarded with paparazzi upon leaving the hospital. Everyone wanted to know the exact reason behind the shooting.
After a whole hour of arguing with Choi Seung-Hyun about whether Jang Mi needed to be in in a wheelchair while exiting the hospital or not, they were ready to go. By walking. She wasn't being pushed in a wheelchair like Choi Seung-Hyun had wanted her to do because she didn't need it. She was walking with skinny jeans a white t-shirt, big shades over her eyes and Choi Seung-Hyun's coat hanging off of her shoulders, she was ready to leave. She had her arm hooked with Choi Seung-Hyun's arms while his other arm carried whatever teddy bears and flowers that Ji Hoon hadn't gotten around to taking home, along with Jang Mi's bag and belongings.
Ji Hoon had arrived in the early hours of the morning with some of his teammates who also fight MMA, all dressed in black suits and ties. Even Ji Soo who was the smallest of the bunch was there in a suit and tie. They were happy to do anything for Jang Mi. Ji Hoon was annoyed with their consistent questions about the whereabouts of his sister and when exactly she was going to visit and buy them food. It was quite an honor to get food from a teammate's family member but it was a plus that she was famous. They were more than happy to be there to help protect Jang Mi from the paparazzi that awaited for her grand exit at the entrance of the hospital. Jang Mi was nervous about being bombarded by people with photos and mics. Choi Seung-Hyun was constantly talking to her to help calm her nerves.
"Don't worry. Your brother and his friends are here." Choi Seung-Hyun said pulling Jang Mi into his side as he wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "And I'm here too. They won't be able to get a single look at you, let alone a picture of you."
Jang Mi smiled. "Thank you." She said leaning up to peck his lips.
"Remember guys, triangle formation. I'll be the tip point. Jang Mi will be holding onto me while I push people out of the way. Seung-Hyun will be protecting her from behind. Ji Soo will be covering Choi Seung-Hyun's back. Everyone else needs to stay on the side of my sister and her boyfriend. When we reach the van, Manager Kim will be waiting for us. The guys on the side are going to create a wall and I'm going to hop into the van followed by Jang Mi, Seung-Hyun and Ji Soo." Ji Hoon said as they all exited the elevators with nods. "And protect the kid." He whispered as he nodded towards Ji Soo.
They were in position as they made their way to the exit. Jang Mi gripped her brother's coat with her free hand as they walked in the formation of a triangle. Choi Seung-Hyun made sure her arm that was hooked with his, didn't go loose. He reached over to place his coat's hood over Jang Mi's head for a better chance at hiding her face. Ji Soo was walking closely behind Choi Seung-Hyun while the other guys were covering them from the side. Jang Mi couldn't see anything past Ji Hoon or the guys to the side of her, but she could see the camera flashes lighting up the corridor at the entrance of the hospital, as it reflected off the hospital's tiled floor.
The sliding door for the hospital slid open and the noise of all the reporters outside could be heard as it echoed off the walls and down the corridor. Jang Mi's heart started beating fast and her breaths started to get heavy. Ji Hoon continued walking and walked head first into the crowds of reporters. Jang Mi could instantly feel the pushes the reporters were doing against her brother and the men standing to the side of her as the bodies were slowly starting to tighten around her. Jang Mi could hear the reporters shouting questions towards both Jang Mi and Choi Seung-Hyun who easily ignored every single one. Yet, they didn't break and kept the same tight formation. After sometime with the pushing and the shouting, they made it all the way to the black van where Manager Kim was waiting for them.
Manager Kim watched as the crowd of reporters moved away from the hospital while walking backwards, sideways and jumping to get at least a small glimpse of Jang Mi. Manager Kim couldn't see Jang Mi but he could see Ji Hoon and his teammates walking forward despite having all the reporters surrounding them. The men dressed in black suit and ties made their way to Manager Kim, while still pushing the prying bodies away from them. When Ji Hoon approached Manager Kim while trying to push the persistent reporters off of him, he jumped inside, taking along with him Jang Mi, Choi Seung-Hyun and Ji Soo inside with him. The moment the four of them were in, Manager Kim shut the door and jumped into the front seat next to Manager Park who had the car on the whole time. He drove out of the hospital parking lot with Ji Hoon's teammates left behind, making sure none of the reporters got hurt from the van leaving.
Ji Soo and Ji Hoon sat in the two single seats in the middle. They both sighed as they relaxed into the leather seats. Ji Soo couldn't believe how crazy that was. He wasn't expecting that much people to come and bother Jang Mi. He couldn't understand why so much people would bother Jang Mi when her health wasn't good. Ji Hoon on the other hand was loosening the tie around his neck. The crowd he just marched through made him feel stuffy and the suit around his big body was tight enough.
Choi Seung-Hyun sat Jang Mi down. He reached over and pulled the seat belt out of the side of the chair and brought it over Jang Mi's body and buckled it. While he concentrated on doing that, Jang Mi kept her eyes watching him with so much admiration that anyone with eyes Although it seemed like Choi Seung-Hyun was just simply putting a seat belt over Jang Mi, it didn't feel like that to her. He also inspected the buckle by pulling on it even after it clicked, just to see if it was placed in tightly and made sure it didn't come out with a little force. That made Jang Mi smile more. The seat belt was a regular seat belt and Choi Seung-Hyun was her regular protective boyfriend, however, he put the belt on her. It made Jang Mi's heart swell up with love at seeing exactly how much he cared for her. He wanted Jang Mi safe no matter what. The seat belt was a gesture and a sign for how much Choi Seung-Hyun cared for Jang Mi's well being. She knew she would feel stupid if she said her feelings about the seat belt out there, so she kept it to herself with a simple smile playing on her lips.
"Thank you.....jakiya." Jang Mi smirked at Choi Seung-Hyun's expression.
"We just got into the van. Could you two stop with all the lovey dovy stuff? Especially in front of the kid." Ji Hoon complained.
"I'm not a kid." Ji Soo replied.
"You are to me. I'm much older than you are. Plus you're still going to school. High school." Ji Hoon said turning to face Ji Soo in his seat.
Ji Soo scoffed. "Hyung, that doesn't make me a kid. That makes you an old ahjussi." Ji Soo said shrugging.
"This old ahjussi could knock you out!" Ji Hoon threatened with a fist lifted.
"Oh so you're okay with punching a kid unconscious?"
"Guys!" Jang Mi said stopping the argument. "Can we just have a silent ride back home. The pain medication is starting to wear off and it's pissing me off how much it's starting to hurt." Jang Mi snapped.
"Jang Mi-ah, are you okay? Does your shoulder hurt? What about your chest?" Choi Seung-Hyun asked with worry dripping out of his mouth. "We can turn around and go back to the hospital."
Jang Mi reached for his right cheek and cupped it. "I'm fine my love. Thank you." She said watching his shoulders slump in relief. Jang Mi turned back to Ji Soo and Ji Hoon who sat in front of her as she easily eyed them. "If you guys don't keep it quiet, we're going to be back in that hospital but for two more patients."
After hearing that, Ji Hoon turned forward too afraid to mess with his grouchy sister at the moment while Ji Soo faced forward because he was afraid of his favorite actress. Jang Mi just sighed in contentment as she leaned back into Choi Seung-Hyun's left side. Choi Seung-Hyun just smiled while shaking his head. He wrapped an arm around Jang Mi to the best of his abilities since the seat belts were stopping him from hugging her completely. Although she threatened the two in the front with their life, she was cute doing it. He was just worried that she was in pain and she wasn't saying anything.
