Chapter 47 - A Stump In The Road

Bae Jang Mi was pacing the floor of President Yang's office. Kwon Ji Yong sat on one of the sofas in the office with President Yang sitting at the head of the coffee table. It's been two days and the noise of Jang Mi cheating on Choi Seung-Hyun hadn't gone quiet like everyone had hoped. Choi Seung-Hyun hadn't stopped pestering Jang Mi or Kwon Ji Yong for the reason behind their hug. Jang Mi was ready for anything she had to do to shut the loud rumors from people who think they know it all. Even President Yang had went but only chuckled when asked of the question. He hadn't given a forward response which was why the noise hadn't died down. The only option that was available, was for Jang Mi to hold a private interview with one of the most gruesome interviewer ever, Oh Hong Doon. He wasn't afraid of asking the hard questions. The questions that could make or break an idol's career. That's what she was thinking about so hard. She didn't know if she should do it or not.

Jang Mi stopped. "Alright. I'll do it." President Yang and Ji Yong looked at her waiting for her to continue. "I'll do the interview. I don't care if he's the meanest one. I didn't do anything wrong and neither did Ji Yong."

Ji Yong smiled skeptically as she tried to convince herself. He has been interviewed by him before and he wasn't all that nice. He had this weird way of getting to someone. He held himself confidently. When he looked you in the eye, it almost felt like he knew all of your secrets. It's what made him such a popular reporter for entertainment news. He was a respected by other junior reporters because he would get straight to the point. He believed that idols are in the spotlight and if they hide stuff, the light will soon shine upon even their darkest of secrets. Oh Hong Doon believed he was the one in charge of shifting the lights around the idols. Idols feared him. Ji Yong thought Jang Mi was crazy for easily agreeing to him.

"Are you sure? He's not..."

Jang Mi cut off Ji Yong's protests. "No! I need to do this. Like I said, I have nothing to hide."

3 hours later

"Why am I so nervous?" Manger Kim shook his head at Jang Mi who couldn't stay still. "He wouldn't eat me alive right? Because there are rumors amongst idols that Reporter Oh eats idols for breakfast."

"Jang Mi-ah, relax." Manager Kim held a firm grip on her shoulder to keep her still. "Take a sip of your hot cocoa. Don't let Reporter Oh into your mind because you didn't do anything wrong. Americans hug all the time."

Jang Mi nodded and sighed. "I can do this." She said encouraging herself.

"Good because he's here." President Yang said walking in. "Jang Mi-ah, this is Reporter Oh."

President Yang said stepping aside to show a man wearing a black trench coat and a suit and tie under it. His hair is sleek black and done up in a way that most Korean men with high paying jobs did. He came in confidently like Ji Yong said he would. Just like all the rumors, he looked like he knew Jang Mi's deepest darkest secret. Jang Mi had to mentally remind herself that he didn't know anything. Nobody knew of the time Jang Mi had stolen her neighbor's dog when she used to live in America and that she failed to return the dog back to it's rightful owners because it had gotten hit by a car on her way to returning it. It gotten hit by a car two blocks over. Noboby knew! She promised to take that to her grave which she will. Mr. Oh can't know about that. Unless he's the dog. Jang Mi reminded herself to keep herself confident.

Jang Mi stood up and did a full bow. "It's nice to meet the famous Reporter Oh."

Reporter Oh chuckled. "So you know I'm well known as a Reporter, so you must know what all the idols say about me." Jang Mi straightened her back and smiled. "All good I hope."

Jang Mi smiled. "Nothing you haven't heard before." She said in a positive tone but Reporter Oh knew it had a negative meaning.

"Please sit. Let's start." Jang Mi followed his lead and sat. He took out a notepad and a pen. "The cameras are rolling right?"

"Yes. Of course. It's just the two of us." Jang Mi smiled.

"Good." Reporter Oh said in a cocky tone. "Please introduce yourself and explain why it is that I and you are here for this interview." Reporter Oh said pointing to the camera.

Jang Mi stood up and did a full bow, surprising Reporter Oh. "Hello! My name is Bae Jang Mi." She said and then came up from the bow. "I am here alongside Reporter Oh to help clear the accusations of my side relationship with Kwon Ji Yong while still being in a relationship with Choi Seung-Hyun." She stated then having a seat. Jang Mi crossed her leg over the other and held her hands in her lap cooly.

Reporter Oh smirked. "Bae Jang Mi-ssi, it hasn't yet been confirmed by the company to the public of your relationship with Choi Seung-Hyun, am I correct?" Jang Mi nodded. "Why? Was it because Choi Seung-Hyun didn't want to or was it because you didn't want to?"

Jang Mi bit her bottom lip but nodded. "I didn't want to say anything." She smiled. "I didn't want the public to know about my relationship with Choi Seung-Hyun since the relationship was still new. I gave myself about six months before the decision of telling the public about my relationship with him. However, that bad guy kept sneaking kisses with me in public. By the sixth month, a lot of magazines had published our constant make outs in public. I didn't feel the need to confirm it since the public basically had an idea that was correct. I don't just go around kissing guys who aren't my boyfriend." Jang Mi shrugged.

"If you're relationship is so well with Choi Seung-Hyun than, why did you cheat on him?" Reporter Oh asked raising a brow.

Jang Mi tilted her head. "I never once agreed to those accusations."

"Yes, but you also didn't agree or disagree to your relationship with Choi Seung-Hyun. How do we know you're not lying right now?" Reporter Oh questioned. "Could it be because the public already knows of the picture between yourself and Kwon Ji Yong? So you didn't feel the need to explain it since photos of you two are out in magazines and websites?"

Jang Mi nodded out of shock from his question. "I guess it's fair for you to use the words that came out of my mouth." Jang Mi looked at Reporter Oh. "So I'll explain things in a way that everyone will understand." Jang Mi said to both the camera and to Reporter Oh. "I never confirmed my good relationship with Min Hyo Rin in public. Never once made out with her in public. But there are pictures of Min Hyo Rin and I hugging in public and hooking arms together. Does that mean I'm dating her? Suddenly I'm a cheating lesbian? No! To me, hugging is showing affection to someone you care about not in just a way of love between a man and a women who shares the same deep feelings. Min Hyo Rin is my best friend and I love her. That's why I hug her a lot. Since dating Choi Seung-Hyun, I've became good friends with  his other band mates. I hug them every time I see them. So I'm dating the whole band now? I understand a lot of people aren't used to women being good friends with men but these men and I are all under the same company. We're not just friends but we're also family. A family who doesn't hug each other isn't a family at all." Jang Mi raised a brow at Reporter Oh who sat patiently. "So the question that everyone is asking is if I am cheating on Choi Seung-Hyun with Kwon Ji Yong? I'll explain my answer. The answer is no. Everyone wants to know why I hugged Ji Yong oppa? Ji Yong oppa is not only a good friend or a oppa of mines. He's also a sunbae. I asked him for advice and he gave me advice. I returned it with a hug. Nothing sexual or nothing that leaves the conclusion of me cheating on Choi Seung-Hyun with Kwon Ji Yong."

"So you're saying you're innocent and the pictures were taken wrongly?"

"The pictures were taken without Kwon Ji Yong's permission. It was also taken without my permission too but the photo is correct. I'm hugging Kwon Ji Yong." Jang Mi stated.

"If you're so strongly going with the fact that you hugged Kwon Ji Yong-ssi because he gave you advice, do you mind telling us what you asked him about?"

Jang Mi thought for a few seconds before finally answering. "For my own personal reason, I can't say what it was I needed advice for only the fact that it is work related. I will however say Kwon Ji Yong oppa's response."

Reporter Oh nodded. "Please explain."

"Kwon Ji Yong said to me as a sunbae, 'Do what you want to do and don't hold back. Don't have any doubts in yourself. The moment you doubt yourself and your decisions, it's going to show and you're going to lack the most important thing you need, confidence! The moment you lack confidence, it will show in everything you do and you will not perform to the best of your abilities.'" Jang Mi said with a small smile. "It was the best advice anyone could receive from a sunbae and I wasn't about to give him a thumbs up for good, heart warming advice. Ji Yong oppa deserved a hug and I gave him one."

Reporter Oh nodded. "Than that's all there is to this stroy?"

Jang Mi smiled. "Yes. That's everything about this hug that everyone's so badly freaked out about."

Reporter Oh stood up and Jang Mi stood up with him. "Thank you for being truthful through out the whole interview." He stuck his hand out.

Jang Mi shrugged. "I have nothing to hide about this matter." She said placing her hands in his as he shook it. "Thank you for coming and doing this on such a busy day."

Reporter Oh nodded then left. The moment he closed the door, Jang Mi fell back onto the sofa and sighed loudly. She was so scared of Reporter Oh. She was shaking now that he had finally left. She let her nerves show as she sat on the couch, relieved that the situation was explained to the best of her abilities. Jang Mi hoped that this would be enough to get over this big stump in the road. Jang Mi's body stood up and responded to the door opening in hopes that it wasn't Reporter Oh. Instead Ji Yong, President Yang and manager Kim all walked in.

Jang Mi sighed a breath of relief. "Thank god! I thought that spawn from hell was coming back."

Everyone chuckled. "You did good." Ji Yong said which Jang Mi turned and gave him a hug.

"I can hug you when ever I want because you're my sunbae and oppa. Right?" She said after pulling away.

Ji Yong chuckled. "Yes Jang Mi. When ever you want a hug, I, myself and the other members of Big Bang will be ready with open arms."

Jang Mi went to President Yang and hugged him. "I can hug you because you're Papa YG and you're the father of this company!" Jang Mi smiled.

President Yang fixed his tie awkwardly. "Yes Jang Mi-ah. My office is available whenever you want a hug." He sighed. "Not like you cared to knock anyway." He said under his breath.

Jang Mi pouted. "And my manager! My poor manager has to deal with someone like me. I will hug you whenever I need to!" She said pulling him into a warm hug.

The three men in the room stood there shocked by such a person. Bae Jang Mi, was weird and nobody could change her.
