Chapter 35 - Jang Mi's Best Friend
Jang Mi entered her manager's house in a panic. It's been more than five hours since she last texted Choi Seung-Hyun. He wasn't picking up any of her phone calls. She had caught the bus to the north of Seoul. She had been lost for awhile and her manager had to drive to where she was to pick her up.
Manager Kim was extremely worried for her. He's never seen her so upset since the three years he's known her. Her hiccups and sobs of cries made it hard for him to understand anything she was saying. He had to stop asking her questions cause it was pointless with her inaudible Korean. His mind wondered over to Choi Seung-Hyun. Jang Mi had promised to explain the situation about the two of them but like everything she ever promised, it slipped her mind. He knew all to well. He just wanted to make sure he wasn't jumping to conclusions about the two so he never brought it up.
Manager Kim sat her body on his sofa. Where she sat sobbing away. He went to his small kitchen to prepare her a cup of hot cocoa. He knew she never drank coffee so he wanted to prepare something that would warm her heart up. He saw Jang Mi as a little sister he's never had. It broke his heart seeing her break down when she was usually a ball of sunshine or a sleeping ball of sunshine. He couldn't stand seeing her like that.
"Jang Mi-ah." Manager Kim walked into the living room and sat next to her. "Jang Mi-ah, drink hot cocoa. You were probably lost around Seoul, crying in the cold." He tsked at her. "Why were you all the way up north of Seoul?" He patted her back.
It took Jang Mi awhile before finally controlling her loud sobs. "My mom.." she started before another loud sob came. "And...and...Choi Seung-Hyun..."
Jang Mi couldn't stop crying. She continued to wipe at the snot and the tears that constantly ran down her face. She was a mess and she want sure if Choi Seung-Hyun was okay. She couldn't hold herself together and she was embarrassed to be in front of her caring manager. He sat next to her silently while rubbing small circles on Jang Mi's back.
Jang Mi is in shock from having her mother in Korea. She usually had her brother to lean on but he was on a hiatus with his older brother duties due to his line of work. Choi Seung-Hyun was probably mad at her. She couldn't do anything and she didn't know what to do. She needed to get herself together and she knew that in order for that to happen she needed to let herself break. She's been holding it in for too long. She wanted her mom to greet her warmly not with a slap to the face. Of course Jang Mi could handle a simple sting from a small slap. However, the pain she hated wasn't from the impact but from her heart. Her heart ached the most whenever she thought about her mom. She just wanted a simple mother daughter relationship. She was envious of anyone who had that and she hated it.
"I'm here!" Jang Mi looked up to see Min Hyo Rin walking through the door wearing her pajamas and her hair tied up in a messy bun. "Thank you manager Kim for answering the phone."
Manager Kim bowed. "I'm sorry for having you come out all the way here but..."
"Nonsense! Manager Kim I was the one who called. All you did was tell me what was going on" She informed him. "I can handle this." She whispered. "You can go rest now."
Manager Kim left to his bedroom as Min Hyo Rin slowly walked to Jang Mi's side. She sat with snot running down her nose and tears flowing from her eyes. Her cheeks were red and swollen. Her eyes were bloodshot red and her hair was frizzy at the top. Hyo Rin didn't say anything. She just sat there and ever so slowly she wrapped her arms around Jang Mi and patter her.
When Jang Mi had finally put herself back together, Min Hyo Rin sat by her with a small smile. Hyo Rin knew that the only two reason a girl truly cries is because someone she loves passed away or someone she loves hurt her. Her automatic thought went to Choi Seung-Hyun however she couldn't fully blame him without even knowing the real reason for her nonstop sobs.
"You don't have to tell me. I just want you to know I'm here for you and that my shoulders are lean-able." Hyo Rin smiled.
Jang Mi smiled her swollen cheeks. "I'll tell you because I know you're a good friend."
****
Hyo Rin escaped to her car earlier, to retrieve snacks that she bought to mend a girl's broken heart. Rolls and rolls of kimbap, wine, chocolate, and most importantly packages of ramyeon. She was in the kitchen placing the pot of ramyeon onto the dining table when Jang Mi had finally finished her story.
"Wow! Your mom? Really?" Jang Mi sadly nodded. "I'm so sorry." Hyo Rin sighed. "I'm old enough to be your mom. I can adopt you."
Jang Mi cracked a smile. "First off, you're only a few years older than I am. I don't understand why people like you and Choi Seung-Hyun make a big deal about our age difference. Second off, I'm already registered in another family so I'm perfectly fine." Jang Mi shrugged. "I just have mommy issues."
Hyo Rin sat down with her chopsticks and spoon. "Alright." She sighed. "But if you change your mind about it, I'm up for it." She said pulling noodles out of the pot with her chopsticks and slurped it up. "What are you going to do about Choi Seung-Hyun?" She said mouth filled with noodles.
Jang Mi sighed. "I don't know. I still have to check up on him just in case." Jang Mi bad made up her mind. "I'm going to his house."
....
This chapter is really boring...but hey, Min Hyo Rin is in it! And I even put a picture of her up. *cries for an eternity because she is super pretty & because she's dating Taeyang*
