Chapter 32 - A Date
Choi Seung-Hyun was busy driving while Jang Mi was playing on her phone. Choi Seung-Hyun had a tendency to watch her from the corner of his eyes. The two were well on their way for a date. Choi Seung-Hyun wanted to surprise Jang Mi but Jang Mi hated surprises. She didn't like being left in the dark. Choi Seung-Hyun had a tough time not telling her where they were headed since she continuously pouted her bottom lip. He did hold his ground quite well.
"We're here." Choi Seung-Hyun announced as he put the car in park.
Jang Mi's eyes widen at the building. "Wow! Why is it so big?" Jang Mi looked closely at the signs around the building. "An art gallery?" She asked excitedly.
Jnag Mi jumped out of the car before Choi Seung-Hyun could get out. She stood in the front of the car jumping in her spot from the cold air. Choi Seung-Hyun watched her with amusement as her hair bounced along with her. Choi Seung-Hyun walked over her and glued her to his side. He wanted to make sure she'd be warm so he hugged her tight enough to ensure that. Jang Mi wrapped her arms around his waist as they both made their way into the building.
Jang Mi sighed as the warm air of the art gallery hit her. The art gallery had a smell that warmed Jang Mi's heart. It smelt like what she'd think a kindergarten classroom would smell like. It smelt like paint and canvas mixed with the heating of the room. Jang Mi's lips moved upwards as she smiled with excitement. Choi Seung-Hyun had been watching her the whole time.
"Let's go." He smiled as he took Jang Mi's hands into his.
Choi Seung-Hyun and Jang Mi walked around the art gallery hand in hand. Choi Seung-Hyun took out his phone to take pictures of the art that were displayed around the area. Jang Mi volunteered herself to take photos of Choi Seung-Hyun. While he was busy uploading the photos onto SNS, Jang Mi found wine. She took a glass and walked around.
The wine wasn't the best wine in the world but to Jang Mi, it was still wine. She continued to drink cup after cup, after she continuously passed men that passed it out. She wanted to feel a slight buzz while looking at art. However, she felt like the wine wasn't working because she drank a lot more than she could usually handle.
After Jang Mi's fourth attempt to feel a buzz, she came upon an art piece of a variety of different colored chairs stacked abnormally on top of each other. The few that caught her eye were chairs that were colored black that sat in the middle and the bottom of the stacked up chairs. She looked at it curiously trying to figure out what everything meant.
Choi Seung-Hyun had finished the upload but couldn't find his girlfriend. He began to walk around the art gallery without looking at any of the art pieces. He finally stumbled upon her. He stood still while watching her from a distance. Her eyes roamed the piece and her bottom lip was pulled into her mouth as she concentrated. So that's how she looks when she's in a deep thought. He continued to observe her like she was the best master piece in the art gallery.
"What's your thoughts on this piece?" Choice Seung-Hyun asked he approached her.
Jang Mi slightly flinched out of shock before finally answering his question. "I'm not good at art or translating it but I think I'm getting something out of this one." She continued to look at the piece when Choi Seung-Hyun came and wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "That black chair indicates something dark." Jang Mi said pointing to the black chair. "Since the chairs are all lined differently and in a messy pattern but it's going up, I think it represents something like a ladder. Not one we can physically climb."
"What type of ladder is it?" Choi Seung-Hyun untangled himself from her and stepped behind her. "Is it like a social ladder?" He wrapped his arms around her shoulders and pulled her closely to his chest.
"What are you doing?" Jang Mi asked she turned around in his arm and wrapped her arms around his waist.
"I wanted to see it from where you're standing." He chuckled and kissed her forehead. "So?"
Jang Mi blushed but continued. "It's almost like a time line. The black chairs at the bottom and the middle show a dark time that happened in the artist's life in time. But at the top it has the only light red colored chair in the stack. I'm guessing he or she is in a state of love. While the dark red seem like some type of anger that he or she showed." Jang Mi said shyly not to sure about her intake on the piece. "Something like that." Jang Mi said softly.
Choi Seung-Hyun looked at the piece of oddly stacked colored chairs and understood Jang Mi. How she thought each color meant something deeper to the artist. However, Choi Seung-Hyun was once told that art speaks to whom ever it speaks to and says whatever the person wants it to say. Basically a mirrorr. What does those black chairs indicate on Jang Mi's life? And does the light red indicate me? Choi Seung-Hyun was deep in his thoughts he hadn't noticed Jang Mi lightly stirring.
"Jang Mi-ah." He said looking at her closely. "Did you drink the wine that they offered?" He asked pulling her apart from him so he could take a good look at her. "How much did you drink? You're drunk." He sighed to himself.
"I only had one cup." Jang Mi lied. "But I lost it." She frowned.
Choi Seung-Hyun chuckled at her cuteness. Choi Seung-Hyun sighed and turned around. He bent down a little and told her to climb onto his back. After a few of her protests, she climbed on. Choi Seung-Hyun had now found where all the food she always ate went. She is much heavier than she looked and it didn't help him that she was squirming around on his back. He needed to take her out before she could cause some type of scene in the gallery.
...
Choi Seung-Hyun laid Jang Mi's sleeping body on his bed. He sighed a breath of disbelief at her. The whole car ride she begged for Choi Seung-Hyun to play his and the rest of the group's music. He had never thought that Jang Mi would rap out his whole Doom Dada rap in such an intoxicated state. She didn't sing but she rapped all their songs effortlessly along with their dances. He couldn't believe what he saw. He didn't want to start on how heavy she actually is despite her outer appearance.
"How can someone so small make so much noise?" Choi Seung-Hyun said loudly running a hand through his hair. "Why are you so heavy?" He said arching his aching back. "Who gets drunk off of cheap wine?" He sighed with his hands placed firmly at his hips.
Choi Seung-Hyun sat on his bed, next to Jang Mi's sleeping figure. He heard her small snores and he watched her sleep. Her long hair flew each and every way on his bed. She hugged his pillow as she slept. Choi Seung-Hyun couldn't imagine how the two of them had gotten to this point. He never would have expected to fall in love so easily. Yet, he sat on his bed watching Jang Mi sleep. He couldn't ever imagine anything more beautiful. Jang Mi slept away while Choi Seung-Hyun watched in amazement and utmost love. His heart warmed every time he thought about her. He couldn't imagine having it any other way.
