Chapter 28 - Visiting Mom

Jang Mi felt nerves running through her body. She was furious because Choi Seung-Hyun hadn't told her ahead of time that he was taking her to meet his mom at her house. She couldn't mentally prepare herself for the wrath of Choi Seung-Hyun's mom for being inferior to her son. Jang Mi watched dramas, in fact she's acted in dramas. She knows how it feels, being a daughter-in-law to a family who doesn't want her in the family. She's been through it before.

"Don't be so nervous." Choi Seung-Hyun said letting one hand escape from the steering wheel to hold onto one of Jang Mi's hand. "My mom isn't scary like that." He squeezed her small hands in his.

"You still should have told me earlier." Jang Mi sighed, content with feeling the warmth from his hand.

"I know. I'm sorry. I also invited the other members of Big Bang if that makes you feel better. Young Bae will bring Min Hyo Rin for us to meet her formally too." Choi Seung-Hyun reassured her.

Jang Mi did feel a little better after he mentioned Min Hyo Rin's name. They have always been texting and visiting each other on each other's set. Jang Mi was happy to know she got a eonnie like Hyo Rin. Jang Mi was worried Hyo Rin wouldn't like her but instead they were pretty close. Like the older sister Hyo Rin was, she constantly called Jang Mi to see if she had eaten or if she was alright. Before Choi Seung-Hyun could even offer to buy his girl friend food, Hyo Rin would already be there with food. Choi Seung-Hyun despised their relationship since Jang Mi would leave him in a heart beat to go and join Hyo Rin. Even Young Bae was starting to get annoyed by it as well but couldn't say too much about it, knowing full well that it would anger Hyo Rin. Young Bae and Choi Seung-Hyun both had busy schedules and limited time in seeing their girlfriends yet the girls decide to hang out with each other instead of their boyfriends.

"Here we are." Choi Seung-Hyun said pulling into the apartment's parking lot. "Let's go."

Jang Mi got out of the car and waited till Choi Seung-Hyun came around to her side. "Did I dress properly? Your mom might hate what I'm wearing."

Choi Seung-Hyun looked at her up and down. Scanning her. Jang Mi wore a white dress that hugged her upper body and flowed out at her waist. The dressed had a heart neckline but covered by a see through fabric. Her hair curled at the ends and she held a small beige colored clutch. Choi Seung-Hyun scanned her face. Her makeup was done lightly as always. A layer of BB cream and then eyeliner to make her hazel brown eyes pop. Jang Mi wore white wedges to complete her look. In all honesty Choi Seung-Hyun didn't see a single flaw.

"Well..." Choi Seung-Hyun dragged.

"What? It's dumb right?" Jang Mi said covering her dress with her arms to the best of it's ability to do so. "Tell her I died or something. I'm not going." Jang Mi shook her head as she went for the car door.

Choi Seung-Hyun reached for her hand. "It's not that." He smiled. "You're too perfect. How can you be so perfect?" He whispered while kissing her forehead.

This caused Jang Mi to sigh in contentment. She forgave him in an instant. She felt like she could meet his mom and rule the world after. Jang Mi's self confidence shown through her stance. Choi Seung-Hyun smirked, amused by her sudden change of attitude. To think I was the one who was able to make her confident. Choi Seung-Hyun took hold of Jang Mi's hand and walked both of them into the building where his mother lived with his older sister.
The elevators took them up to the last floor of the building. The building looked too much like a hotel to Jang Mi. The floor tiles and clean walls were absolutely shining with a coat of wax of some sort. When Jang Mi thought about apartments, she thought about all the apartments she had to go through. There was one where barely anything worked properly and it leaked when it rained heavily. Jang Mi's current apartment couldn't hold heat during winter and got extremely hot during summer. However, the apartment Choi Seung-Hyun's mom lives in blew her away. They even had a small waiting chair and a coffee table in the hallway by the elevators.

"Hyung." Jang Mi and Choi Seung-Hyun looked up to see Young Bae, dressed in casual clothing. "We came just on time."

"Eonnie!" Jang Mi instantly squealed and ran to hug Min Hyo Rin. "Thank goodness you're here."

"No problem." She smiled brightly. "Choi Seung-Hyun, nice to see you again." Hyo Rin bowed.

"Nice to see you too." Choi Seung-Hyun had a tight smile. "Please return her so she can meet my mom." He smiled too brightly.

Min Hyo Rin shrugged off Choi Seung-Hyun's cold shoulder. "We're right behind you." Hyo Rin smiled to reassure Jang Mi as she went back to Young Bae's side.

The doorbell rang but Jang Mi couldn't hear it due to the loud pounding of her heart. It was overtaking any sound that her ears were trying to pick up. She was so nervous to see his mom and Choi Seung-Hyun felt it through her sweaty palms. Jang Mi had a feeling that his mom wasn't a mean person since she raised Choi Seung-Hyun but she knows how overprotective a mother can be with her children. She witnessed it all the time as an actress of the second lead. Even the presence of her friend Min Hyo Rin wasn't helping the nerves. The only thing that made her calm enough, were the small squeezes Choi Seung-Hyun did to her hands. He was reassuring her that she was doing fine.
The door opened to reveal Choi Seung-Hyun's mother. Jang Mi couldn't help but think how young she looked. She looked to be in her early/late thirties. She had wrinkles where here her eyes crinkled as she smiled brightly. Her short black hair curled around her thin face. Jang Mi couldn't believe how tiny she was. As she stood there and greeted her son with joy, Jang Mi was appalled by the beauty of the true women in front of her. She held a smile when her eyes fell on Jang Mi.

"You must be the one trying to steal away my son." She smiled causing Jang Mi to panic.
