Chapter 14 - I can dance too

After Jang Mi's schedule had finished, she went home to shower and get ready to visit Seung-Hyun at his home. She arrived about an hour later to his house with a box of chicken she saved for him and a few other things. She wasn't sure if he liked chicken or not. He was bound to eat it regardless of him wanting to or not. Jang Mi rang the doorbell that sat on its own by Seung-Hyun's gate.

"Jang Mi-ah, you're here?" Seung-Hyun's deep voice said on the other end.

Jang Mi smiled into the camera while holding up the bag with chicken in it. She walked in after hearing the buzz. Just like before, she was amazed by Seung-Hyun's house. The courtyard is just as beautiful at night as it is in the day. It wasn't as dark due to the lanterns that lit up alongside the stone pathway that leads to Seung-Hyun's house. She smiled as she saw Seung-Hyun's tall figure waiting smoothly at the other end. He had his normal hard look but it softened with a small smirk that pulled at the corner of his mouth. Jang Mi couldn't believe what he wore. Casual home clothing fit him so well and it actually made him even more handsome. He wore grey sweats that hung loosely around his hips. He also wore a white long sleeve that clung to him like a second skin. His hair fell down his forehead since it wasn't up in a due. Jang Mi felt bad about the dark circles under his eyes.

"Seung-Hyun!" Jang Mi walked on the stone path to him.

Seung-Hyun waved happily at her. He took in her casual attire she wore to come to his house. She wore an oversized white sweater that stopped mid-thigh. Unlike the one Seung-Hyun saw her wearing the last time, her collarbone wasn't exposed but she still exposed her legs. Her height given a boost due to her wedges. No makeup and hair in a messy bun. She looked like she created casual.

Despite the way she dressed down from most times he has seen her, she didn't look any different. He didn't mind her bare face at all either. She looked extremely tired but smiled brightly at him. She almost made it across the yard without tripping. Her shoe hit a corner of the stone making her stumble and she fought for balance. When she regained her balance, she stood up straight and smiled again.

"Jang Mi-ah, you should be more careful." Seung-Hyun went over to her and grabbed the bags in her hand. "What is all this?" He asked.

"I wasn't able to bring you anything the last time I came because I had no money. So surprise!" Jang Mi laughed as Seung-Hyun joined along.

They both entered the warmth of Seung-Hyun's house. Seung-Hyun had bought Jang Mi new house slippers. They were puppy ones that made her smile when she first saw them. Jang Mi saw the ladybug slipper sitting on the floor and smiled remembering the last time she wore them. She was trapped inside a closet for a while. She remembers how cramped her body was staying in the same position too long. Just the thought of it, Jang Mi stretched out her limbs that were tired from the work she did that day.

Seung-Hyun watched Jang Mi's wandering eyes as it moved around his house. Just like it did last time. He was tired but if they were to become a couple, they needed to know things about each other. Seung-Hyun found it more difficult because he knew Jang Mi was hiding something from him. His mind couldn't even imagine what it was. He knows it has something to do with her family. No matter how much research he did, all he knew was she has an older brother and was raised in America. However, there was no information on where her parents were or what happened to them. He couldn't find what her brother's occupation was either. She was too confusing for him. Seung-Hyun worried that if she hid her past too long, it'll explode into the public like most idols who try to protect their nasty past.

"You brought chicken?" Seung-Hyun asked as he led the way to the living room.

"Yes. It's really good." Jang Mi sat in a chair that looked most comfortable to her. "You like chicken right?"

He nodded in reply. "I have beer. Are you okay to drink?" He asked still standing.

"Yes. I think I'll be alright for my scheduling tomorrow." Jang Mi smiled.

The two sat together on the floor when the beers arrived. For a few minutes they did nothing but sit in a quiet state. It wasn't so awkward where it made them both uncomfortable but they didn't know what to say to each other. Especially since they barely know each other. Seung-Hyun knew that Jang Mi wasn't raised in Korea but in America. And Jang Mi knew that Seung-Hyun is an amazing actor and rapper. However, they never said anything. Even the chicken was left untouched. Mostly because Jang Mi was full and Seung-Hyun didn't want to make noise. So they sat there.

Seung-Hyun's eyes continued to dart at Jang Mi as she took small sips of beer. Seung-Hyun knew the can was slowly getting empty. He felt a little inferior towards her for not saying anything. Jang Mi's lips pulled at the corner showing a shallow dimple on her cheeks. Seung-Hyun's head tilted as he observed her. He didn't understand why she was smiling in this quietness. Other thoughts played on his mind as well. Like, what was she thinking about? What was she smiling about? Who is she smiling about? Who made her able to smile while sitting silently in a room?

"Seung-Hyun?" Jang Mi whispered before looking at him.

"Hm?" He said like a deer caught in the headlights.

"Why are you so quiet?" She paused. "Nothing bad happened right?"

He chuckled a low chuckle. "Nothing unusual. So you met with Bangtan?"

Jang Mi smiled brightly. "Yes! They're amazing." She laughed. "Have you ever had a sasaeng fan?"

Seung-Hyun was surprised by the question. "Well Big Bang in general. I only know Kwon Ji Young has crazy sasaeng fans along with Young but never me." He paused and looked at her. "Did you?" He asked appalled.

She chuckled. "Yeah. It was a teenage boy who snuck into my van while I was asleep and my managers were gathering things. He took pictures of me sleeping and claimed I was sleeping with a minor." She explained. "Kim Nam Joon had asked and I didn't even remember it. It happened two years ago when I first started and I took care of it so it's alright. I guess."

Seung-Hyun was quiet for a moment before finally speaking. "Did it ever happen again?"

Jang Mi tried to remember if it ever happened again. She did remember once when she left a set, a van was following her van. She thought it was her mom at that time but it turned out to be a group of young men trying to kidnap her. She paused when it finally hit her. It worried Seung-Hyun when the look on her face became unpleasant. He thought something bad must have happened and he shouldn't had asked but before he said anything to comfort her in anyway, she spoke.

"I remember." She started and took a gulp of beer. "My manager had dropped me off from a shoot once. This van had been following us since we left and when I was walking up the stairs, that's when they grabbed me and tried taking me into their car."

Seung-Hyun was shocked to hear this. "I've never heard these anywhere. How did you get out of that?"

Jang Mi laughed. "I fought them."

Again he was shocked. "Fought them?"

Jang Mi looked at him and cocked her head to the right in confusion. "Yeah. You didn't know? I've learned taekwondo, kickboxing, and other mixed martial arts since I was seven." Jang Mi paused. "It's why I want to do more action acting instead of romance. Maybe even both?"

Seung-Hyun's mouth gaped wide open at her. "So you're telling me, you fought sasaengs?" She nodded. "I don't believe you."

"It's okay, nobody does." She scoffed. "But when I tell everyone I can dance, that's when they start believing?"

"You can dance? Not just simple dancing like Park Bom does right? Because Bom Noona thinks she can dance."

Jang Mi chuckled. "I've always wanted to meet her. What is she like?"

"For one, she's very weird. Then again, she is 2ne1's alien. She also cherishes food over friends. If anyone gives her food, she'll become good friends with them and betray her other good friends. She's also emotional but other then that, she has a good heart."

"Wow." Jang Mi smiled. "What's it like being so close to other musical artists? It must be different when seeing other people from other companies."

"It's good being close with them. We take care of each other like family. Big Bang was there for 2ne1's debut, when Lee Hi entered the company along with the siblings of Akdong. Then winner and Ikon. And even great rappers like Epik High and good duos like Jinusean. We're all close like family. But some leave like Se7en which I was sad about." Seung-Hyun nodded then continued his rant. "It must be hard for actors who never see each other. Especially when they are filming a movie or drama." Jang Mi nodded in agreement. "The only time they see each other is at the end of the year celebration for the company."

Jang Mi scoffed. "You're an actor too. It must be hard."

Jang Mi and Seung-Hyun continued to drink beer. None of them seemed to be getting closed to drunk. Seung-Hyun had finally digged into the chicken, eating most of it. Jang Mi smiled watching him eat. They both began to feel buzzed but not to an extent where they were going to do something stupid. Jang Mi had continuously told Seung-Hyun that she can fight and dance. He didn't believe her. He thought she was crazy. Who raises a daughter to fight at seven? Seung-Hyun sure knew he didn't want any of that at the age of seven.
However, when they slowly go into their drunk state, Jang Mi stood up and told Seung-Hyun to sing Ringa Linga and she'll do the dance for it. He couldn't get the song done correctly. Jang Mi made the moves as perfect as drunk person can. When she danced as perfect as possible, Seung-Hyun stood up and told her she's doing it wrong and started showing her how the dance went. Jang Mi laughed at his long body trying to imitate Dong Young Bae's dance. Seung-Hyun the rapper of Big Bang, well known actor, can not dance to save his life. Jang Mi heard of stories about Seung-Hyun not being able to dance but this was ridiculous. It made Jang Mi laughed really hard and it's been awhile since she had laughed this hard. She was sincerely thankful towards him for making her laugh.
